Jocelyn Hoffman had gotten little sleep the night before, arriving home about midnight after a full day of visiting east Las Vegas neighborhoods and encouraging people to register to vote.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
But there was more work to be done Sunday, the 19-year-old said, with early voting less than a week away. Sunday\u2019s goal: knock on 200 more doors.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is one of the most important Senate races that Nevada has ever seen,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
By 9 a.m., Hoffman was back in the Nevada State Democratic Party\u2019s pop-up office near Bonanza Road and Lamb Boulevard, an area with a large Hispanic population. Hoffman, along with about 20 other volunteers, was awaiting a visit from Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez and Vice Chair Rep. Grace Meng, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Steve Sisolak and Rep. Dina Titus.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The four had a day packed with events scheduled across the valley, with the goal of energizing Nevada voters and reaching out to minority communities ahead of early voting, which begins Saturday. Later Sunday, they were to be joined by Rep. Jacky Rosen, who is challenging Republican Sen. Dean Heller.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn 141 hours and 10 minutes, early voting starts,\u201d Sisolak, the chairman of the Clark County Commission who is facing off against Republican candidate Attorney General Adam Laxalt, said just before 10 a.m. \u201cThat\u2019s how close it is, and we\u2019re not waiting until Nov. 6. We\u2019re starting next Saturday. We have to start next Saturday. We have to turn out the voters.\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The volunteers clapped and cheered as Sisolak introduced the next speaker. Perez, the DNC chairman, had a hop in his step as he made his way to the front of the room.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cWe need Steve Sisolak. We need Jacky Rosen. We need Aaron Ford. We have an opportunity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Perez paced back and forth as he thanked the volunteers for their work while also reminding them of what they are fighting for: \u201cA party that leaves no ZIP code behind. A party that\u2019s fighting for health care. A party that is fighting for a brighter future for our immigrant children. A party that understands that we are all dreamers.\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cNuestro voto es nuestra voz,\u201d he yelled. \u201cOur vote is our voice.\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The pep talk was over by 10:20 a.m. Immediately after, Hoffman set out on her 200-door goal, but not before telling the Las Vegas Review-Journal, \u201cThis election is important, especially for the east side \u2014 the Latino community, really.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople who can vote need to vote for the 15- and 16-year-olds who can\u2019t vote yet but who will be affected by the outcome of this election in a few years,\u201d she said. \u201cOne vote is a vote for a student or person who can\u2019t vote.\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Then Hoffman left, with a handful of pens and a clipboard.<\/p>\n
