DNC Chair Tom Perez released the following statement on the recent shooting at the Borderline Bar and Grill in Thousand Oaks, California:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not normal. This was not inevitable. Again our hearts are broken by tragedy. Again, we mourn as a nation for the victims and their families. And again we are grateful to the first responders who put themselves in harm\u2019s way to save lives. But as we seek to offer what comfort we can to those affected with our thoughts and prayers, we must believe that there is more we can do. We can act. We can call upon our elected leaders to work together to end the bloodshed and prevent anything like this from happening \u2013 again and again and again.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery American should be able to live their entire life free from the fear of experiencing a massacre like this. But early reports have indicated that among the patrons at the Borderline Bar last night were survivors of last year\u2019s Las Vegas massacre. Enough is enough.
