One day after the election, he finalized a new rule that would further reduce access to care.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Health care was a defining issue in the Democrats\u2019 Senate victory in Arizona, and it was the top issue for voters in the midterms that led to Democrats flipping control of the House.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Trump administration just finalized a rule to roll back the ACA\u2019s requirement that employers provide birth control coverage.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/hhs-to-let-some-employers-opt-out-of-birth-control-mandate-1541634002\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wall Street Journal<\/a>: \u201cThe Trump administration will allow religious groups, nonprofits, small businesses and some other employers to opt out of a requirement under the Affordable Care Act to provide birth-control coverage for their employees, a victory for religious conservatives who mounted a yearslong legal battle to eliminate the mandate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Health care was a \u201cdefining issue\u201d in the Arizona Senate race.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.azcentral.com\/story\/news\/politics\/arizona\/2018\/11\/12\/5-takeaways-arizonas-martha-mcsally-kyrsten-sinema-senate-race\/1973977002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Arizona Republic<\/a>: Especially for women \u2014 who tend to be primary caregivers for children and aging parents \u2014 health care was a defining issue. Sinema made it the centerpiece of her campaign from the outset. Everywhere she went, she reminded people of her votes to maintain the Affordable Care Act, the eight-year-old federal law commonly referred to as Obamacare, which Republicans have tried to repeal or roll back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Voters ranked health care as their #1 issue, according to exit polls.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/policy-and-politics\/2018\/11\/7\/18070152\/midterm-elections-2018-results-trump-obamacare-repeal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vox<\/a>: \u201cDemocrats campaigned hard against Republicans for backing legislation last year that would unwind the law\u2019s protections for preexisting conditions, and health care came in as the No. 1 issue for voters, according to exit polls.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Health care voters preferred Democratic House candidates by a 52-point margin.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sahilkapur\/status\/1062050805505839106\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bloomberg\u2019s Kapur<\/a>: \u201cHealth care ranked as the top issue for 2018 House voters with 41% citing it. Those voters preferred Democrats by a 52-point (!) margin, per exit polls.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Three states voted to expand Medicaid, and three more could soon follow.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2018\/11\/07\/health\/medicaid-expansion-ballot.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New York Times<\/a>: \u201cVoters in Idaho, Nebraska and Utah, which President Trump won easily in 2016, approved ballot initiatives to expand the government insurance program under the Affordable Care Act.
