Yesterday, Trump told General Motors workers who are about to be laid off that \u201cit doesn\u2019t really matter\u201d and promised that their jobs would be replaced \u201cin like two minutes.\u201d Ohio workers have heard Trump\u2019s empty promises before, and they aren\u2019t buying it anymore.<\/p>\n

Trump said \u201cit doesn\u2019t really matter\u201d that more than 14,000 GM employees were losing their jobs because his \u201cleadership\u201d meant \u201cOhio\u2019s going to replace those jobs in like two minutes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cIt doesn’t really matter because Ohio is under my leadership from a national standpoint. Ohio’s going to replace those jobs like in two minutes\u2026 She’s [Mary Barra is] either going to open fast or somebody else is going to go in.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2026but Ohio voters have heard these empty promises from Trump before.<\/p>\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cThose jobs have left Ohio. They\u2019re all coming back. They\u2019re all coming back. Don\u2019t move, don\u2019t sell your house. We\u2019re going to fill up those factories or rip them down and build new ones.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cWe have empty factories. that\u2019s going to end. That\u2019s going to end, so easy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cStarting in 2017, jobs are going to start leaving other countries, and coming back to us. Believe me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cWe\u2019re going to have our jobs come back. There will be consequences when a company fires all of its people, moves to Mexico, makes product and thinks they\u2019re going to sell this product back into Ohio and other places.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cJobs will return, don’t you like the sound of that? Incomes will rise and new factories will come rushing onto our shores.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, Ohioans feel betrayed by Trump\u2019s broken promises.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe said to the crowd, he said, don\u2019t sell your homes.\u00a0 Well, I bought a house two miles away from where I worked.\u00a0 He said, jobs are going to be pouring back in. I lost my job.\u201d – Recently laid off GM worker<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI thought he was going to do miracles for us, so did a lot of other autoworkers. He needs to step up to the plate and do what he said.\u2019\u201d – 26-year GM Lordstown employee<\/a><\/p>\n
