Hundreds of thousands of workers do not know when their next paycheck will come because of the Trump Shutdown. Now, Trump\u2019s temper tantrum could keep money out of the pockets of millions of Americans whose tax refunds could be delayed.<\/p>\n

Washington Post<\/a>: \u201cMore than $140 billion in tax refunds are at risk of being frozen or delayed if the government shutdown stretches into February, widespread disruptions that threaten to hurt the economy.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cA protracted fight between President Donald Trump and Democratic congressional leaders to fund the government could delay payouts of tax refunds to millions of Americans who are owed money.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Americans sorting out tax problems won\u2019t be able to get help from the IRS during the Trump Shutdown.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

CBS News<\/a>: \u201cThe agency is not issuing refunds, updating tax forms or answering phone help lines, according to its shutdown plans.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

CBS News<\/a>: \u201cFar greater challenges face Americans who are in the midst of sorting out tax problems with the IRS, like audits, or those who have questions about tax returns.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This tax filing season is complicated even more because of the Trump tax law, but businesses won\u2019t be able to get advice on changes.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

CBS News<\/a>: \u201cThe shutdown complicates an already complex tax season due to the myriad new regulations created by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, the sweeping bill signed into law by President Donald Trump in late 2017.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cBut businesses can’t call the agency for advice on changes, said Alice Jacobsohn at the American Payroll Association. That includes questions about how the new tax law may have changed things for this year’s W-2 forms, which they must send out by the end of January.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Democratic-led House is introducing legislation to fund the Treasury Department and IRS to ensure Americans receive their tax refunds on time.<\/p>\n
