Trump promised taxpayers they would take home more money because of his tax law. Now, millions of Americans who have filed their taxes are receiving refunds that are less than they expected.<\/p>\n

Millions of Americans who have filed\u00a0their 2018 taxes are learning their refunds are less than expected\u2014or that they actually owe the IRS money.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Washington Post<\/a>: \u201cMillions of Americans filling out their 2018 taxes will probably be surprised to learn that their refunds will be less than expected or that they owe money to the Internal Revenue Service after years of receiving refunds.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Americans\u2019 tax refunds are hundreds of dollars less than last year, and millions fewer taxpayers are getting refunds at all.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

USA Today<\/a>: \u201cThe average tax refund issued so far fell to $1,865, down 8.4 percent from $2,035 at the same time last year, according to IRS statistics. The number of refunds issued also dropped by 24.3 percent.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Taxpayers are angry about the GOP tax scam. They blame Trump for breaking his promises, and say they wouldn\u2019t vote for him again.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201c@realDonaldTrump just did my taxes and thanks for increasing mine!! No change in income and got back $400 less than last year. That campaign promise was one of the only two reasons I voted for you. Rethinking that decision now<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cIt totally feels like a scam.<\/a> I did still get a small refund, but compared to what I was expecting from previous years, it was shock.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cI got screwed<\/a>. Widow with two young children and I try to owe $100 or less, because who likes loaning money to the government. And this year I owe $1,000.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cI am really frustrated with my refund this year.<\/a> I was expecting good chunk of change.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cIt looks like it was a bunch of gimmicking. I didn\u2019t know how badly it was actually going to hurt<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cAs active as I got in the last election cycle and as active as I plan to be in 2020, this put more urgency behind it<\/a> than almost any other thing that has happened.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cMy jaw hit the floor<\/a>. I just started paying back my student loans. If I\u2019d gotten the $6,000, I\u2019d have paid off all my credit cards. I could\u2019ve really used that money to eliminate it all.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLast year I got a $750 refund. And this year I owe $4,600<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n
