South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham has become one of Donald Trump\u2019s greatest enablers. So much so, that Graham is backing Trump\u2019s national emergency declaration over a manufactured crisis. Graham, once considered an even-handed Senator who would hold Trump accountable, is now trying to sell the American people on the president\u2019s dangerous power grab, and in doing so, he\u2019s even selling out school kids.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cI would say it\u2019s better for the middle school kids in Kentucky to have a secure border,\u201d said Graham to Face the Nation<\/a>, as he tried to justify Trump\u2019s illegal push to redirect funds from federal construction projects — including for a military middle school in Kentucky — to build his unnecessary, unpopular and ineffective wall.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Let\u2019s be clear: there is no national emergency:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Trump said it himself: “I didn’t need to do this.”<\/a> He then spent the next three days on the golf course.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Americans overwhelmingly disapprove of a national emergency declaration, despite what Trump and Graham say:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

NPR<\/a>: \u201cMore than 6-in-10 Americans disapprove of President Trump’s decision to declare a national emergency so he can build barriers along the U.S border with Mexico, a new NPR\/PBS NewsHour\/Marist poll<\/a> finds.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Despite Trump\u2019s claims that other presidents have done this, no president in history has declared a national emergency to overrule Congress and the will of the people:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

New York Times<\/a>: \u201cThe suit, filed in Federal District Court in San Francisco, argues that the president does not have the power to divert funds for constructing a wall along the Mexican border because it is Congress that controls spending.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
