RE: Trump\u2019s Tax Scam Broke His Promises To Hard Working Americans Across The Country<\/a><\/p>\n During the 2016 campaign Trump said he\u2019d \u201cmassively cut taxes for the middle class\u201d — but two years ago this week Trump and Republicans put forward their tax scam that broke this promise.<\/p>\n His agenda will raise taxes on most hardworking Americans, gives handouts to his wealthy, well-connected friends, and continues Trump\u2019s sabotage of our health care system, increasing premiums and undercutting protections for people with preexisting conditions. In states like Wisconsin<\/a>, Florida<\/a> and Arizona<\/a>, big corporations are pocketing their tax windfall, then laying off workers. And as the nation continues to rack up debt on Trump\u2019s watch, Republicans even say they might cut Medicare and Social Security to help pay for it all.<\/p>\n Polling confirms Trump\u2019s vulnerability on this issue: Monmouth University showed only 34 percent<\/a> approve of the law, CBS News found \u201cmost say new tax law helps corporations and the wealthy, not middle class<\/a>,\u201d and Gallup wrote the law \u201cis not turning out like President Donald Trump and the Republicans hoped it would.<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n In key battleground states, here\u2019s Trump\u2019s record of broken promises on taxes and how he\u2019s hurting middle-class Americans:<\/p>\n AZ: In 2016 in Mesa, Trump said \u201cI\u2019m cutting the hell out of taxes for the middle class,\u201d but his plan will raise taxes on 1.1 million<\/a> middle-class Arizonans. Walmart saved more than $1.6 billion<\/a> under his tax scam — then laid off hundreds of workers in Arizona<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n FL: In 2016 in Miami, Trump said \u201cI\u2019m going to lower your taxes substantially,\u201d but his plan will end up raising taxes on 3.6 million<\/a> middle-class Floridians, while the richest 1%<\/a> of Florida taxpayers receive 40% of the state\u2019s cuts this year. Corporations like AT&T received a $20 billion tax windfall<\/a> — then laid off hundreds of workers<\/a> in Florida.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n PA: In 2016 in Ambridge, Trump said he would cut taxes \u201cbig league,\u201d but his plan will raise taxes on nearly 1.8 million<\/a> middle-class Pennsylvanians.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n MI: In 2016 in Detroit, Trump said \u201cNo one will gain more from tax cuts than low and middle-income Americans,\u201d but his plan will raise taxes on 1.2 million<\/a> lower- and middle-class Michiganders.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n NC: In 2015 in Raleigh, Trump said he\u2019d pass \u201cthe biggest tax cut of anybody by far,\u201d and \u201cthe middle class is getting the biggest part of it.\u201d But his plan will end up raising taxes on 1.3 million<\/a> North Carolinians, while the richest 5 percent of North Carolinans get most of the cuts this year.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n NH: In 2016, Trump declared he was \u201cgiving everybody a tremendous tax cut,\u201d and promised to make \u201cour country really vibrant again,\u201d but his plan will raise taxes on more than 223,000<\/a> Granite Staters.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n NV: In 2016 in Reno, Trump said he would \u201cmassively cut taxes for the middle class,\u201d but his plan will raise taxes on middle-class Nevadans<\/a>. To make matters worse, Trump\u2019s tax scam will raise taxes for over 5 million<\/a> Texans.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n WI: In 2016 in Appleton, Trump said \u201cmy tax plan lowers taxes very substantially for middle class people,\u201d but his plan will raise taxes<\/a> on hundreds of thousands of working families in Wisconsin. And Wisconsin corporations like Kimberly Clark used their tax savings \u201cto pay for layoffs.<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n The bottom line: Two years later, Trump\u2019s tax scam is a major vulnerability for his campaign and a glaring example of how he\u2019s failed to deliver for the middle class. His agenda helps the wealthy and well-connected, while Americans who actually work for a living are paying the price.
