South Florida Sun-Sentinel<\/a>: \u201cGov. Ron DeSantis\u2019 decision to sign one of the most restrictive abortion laws in the country could cost him votes if he runs for president, political operatives said Friday, and doing it in a private event late at night suggests he\u2019s well aware of that. \u2026 The bill bans most abortions after six weeks before most women even know they\u2019re pregnant. It provides exceptions for victims of rape or incest for up to 15 weeks but requires they prove it by providing a copy of a restraining order, police report, medical record, or other documents.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DeSantis refused to rule out signing a national abortion ban and vowed to use federal authority to limit reproductive freedoms.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

DeSantis<\/a>: \u201cI’m a pro-life governor. I’ve signed pro-life legislation. I’ll be a pro-life president. \u2026 Of course, there’ll be executive actions.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

DeSantis<\/a>: \u201cWe were able to sign legislation protecting unborn child with a detectable heartbeat. And we think that that’s a humane thing to do. \u2026 Dobbs<\/em> returned the issue to the elected representatives of the people. And so I think that there’s \u2014 there’s role for both the federal and the states.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
