In response to new extreme attempts by MAGA Republicans to rip away women\u2019s freedoms in Missouri, Texas, and New Hampshire, <\/em>DNC National Press Secretary Sarafina Chitika released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnti-abortion extremists emboldened and enabled by Donald Trump are launching an onslaught against women in Missouri, Texas, New Hampshire, and across the country, from looking to ban abortion before many women know they\u2019re pregnant to threatening to charge them with murder for seeking care. These far-right extremists are following Trump \u2014 the man who brags about \u201ckilling\u201d Roe<\/em> and called for women who have abortions to be punished. Trump\u2019s yearslong anti-abortion crusade has allowed MAGA Republicans across the country to overturn women\u2019s right to make their own health care decisions \u2014 and he won\u2019t stop until abortion is banned nationwide. Since Roe <\/em>was overturned, Americans have repeatedly rejected Republicans\u2019 anti-abortion agenda at the ballot box, and next November, these MAGA extremists will find out once again that Americans want their freedoms protected, not taken away.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anti-abortion extremists in Missouri are pushing legislation that would allow for women to be thrown in jail <\/strong>for murder <\/em><\/strong>for seeking reproductive care. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

St. Louis Post-Dispatch<\/a>: \u201cMissouri Republican lawmakers are pushing a pair of bills that would allow for women to be charged with murder for getting an abortion in the state.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Associated Press<\/a>: \u201cMissouri lawmakers propose allowing homicide charges for women who have abortions\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FOX News<\/a>: \u201cSince the Supreme Court last year overturned the 1973 decision Roe v. Wade that had guaranteed the right to an abortion, most Republican-controlled states have adopted bans or restrictions on the procedure and most Democrat-controlled states have taken steps to protect a woman’s access.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Texas Supreme Court, at the direction of Trump-endorsed MAGA Republican Ken Paxton, blocked a pregnant woman from getting an emergency abortion. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cThe Texas Supreme Court has temporarily blocked a pregnant woman from obtaining an emergency abortion in a ruling issued late Friday. The court froze a lower court\u2019s ruling that would have allowed Kate Cox, who sued the state seeking a court-ordered abortion, to obtain the procedure. \u2018Without regard to the merits, the Court administratively stays the district court\u2019s December 7, 2023 order,\u2019 the order states.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

USA Today Opinion<\/a>: \u201cTexas is showing Americans the dark future women face if Republicans have full control of abortion rights. The state\u2019s abortion laws are so draconian, a 31-year-old woman had to ask a judge to grant her and her doctors permission to end a nonviable pregnancy that is putting her health and future ability to have children at risk.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MSNBC<\/a>: \u201cMika: Texas\u2019 AG is so desperate to mimic Trump he\u2019s behaving in a cruel, brutal fashion\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Hampshire Republicans introduced an extreme abortion ban at <\/strong>15 days<\/em><\/strong>, which would make it one of the most restrictive in the entire country. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Hampshire House Bill 1248-FN<\/a>: \u201cThis bill prohibits abortion, other than for a medical emergency, if the gestational age of the fetus is more than 15 days.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Donald Trump can\u2019t stop bragging about the unique role he played in overturning <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>, opening the door for extreme abortion bans across the country. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cAfter 50 years of failure, with nobody coming even close, I was able to kill Roe v. Wade<\/em>, much to the \u2018shock\u2019 of everyone \u2026 Without me there would be no 6 weeks, 10 weeks, 15 weeks, or whatever is finally agreed to. Without me the pro Life movement would have just kept losing. Thank you President TRUMP!!!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cI’m the one that got rid of Roe v. Wade<\/em>, and everybody said that was an impossible thing to do. I put on three Supreme Court justices. Very few people have had that privilege or honor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cWe’ll pick something that’s going to be very, very good for pro-life \u2026 I\u2019m going to be in there pushing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump on if he would sign a six-week national abortion ban<\/a>: \u201cI’m looking at all [options].\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cGetting rid of Roe v. Wade<\/em> was an incredible thing for pro-life because it gave pro-life something to negotiate with. Pro-life had absolutely nothing, being stuck in Roe v. Wade<\/em>, to negotiate with. \u2026 And look, everybody that was president wanted to get rid and tried to get rid of Roe v. Wade<\/em> … For fifty years, this has been going on. I was able to do it, and I was very honored to do it.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

MAGA Republicans\u2019 anti-abortion extremism is highly unpopular and has been repeatedly rejected by voters, including in last month\u2019s elections.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

USA Today<\/a>: \u201cSupport for legal abortion rises a year after Roe v. Wade overturned-Poll\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAmericans overwhelmingly oppose the next goal of many anti-abortion activists, to enact a federal law banning abortion nationwide. By 80%-14%, those surveyed opposed that idea, including 65% of Republicans and 83% of independents. By 53%-39%, they supported a federal law ensuring access to abortion.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
