He can\u2019t seem to stop complimenting dictators.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elsewhere in the race for the MAGA base, Chris Sununu endorsed Nikki Haley; Vivek Ramaswamy said the Supreme Court should rule against safe, effective abortion medication; and Ron DeSantis\u2019s extreme MAGA agenda was on display at his CNN town hall as he doubled down on his plan to repeal the Affordable Care Act and bragged about signing extreme abortion bans.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Capitol Hill, House Republicans spent the week openly admitting that their baseless impeachment inquiry into President Biden is a political stunt to please Trump, and a new bombshell report revealed James Comer himself is engaged in the same behavior he is falsely accusing President Biden of in his baseless impeachment sham. Meanwhile, the Republican House Freedom Caucus elected far-right extremist Bob Good as chair.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Texas, extreme abortion bans forced Kate Cox to flee the state to receive an abortion for her non-viable pregnancy after the state Supreme Court ruled she didn\u2019t qualify to meet a medical exception.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Donald Trump made a weak attempt to clean up his \u201cdictator on day one\u201d comment but then immediately admitted to getting along with Kim Jong Un.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/newsletters\/playbook\/2023\/12\/10\/trump-doubles-down-on-dictator-desire-00130973\">Politico<\/a>: \u201c\u2018I said I want to be a dictator for one day,\u2019 Trump told the MAGA faithful at Cipriani in Manhattan. \u2018You know why I wanted to be a dictator? The only thing accurate in the story is that I do get along well with Kim Jong Un!\u2019 Trump did not specifically deny he was mulling the freeze-for-relief idea.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BidenHQ\/status\/1735362808898843014?s=20\">Trump<\/a>: \u201cHe asked me a question, \u2018Please say you don\u2019t want to be a dictator.\u2019 I said, \u2018No, I won\u2019t say that. I want to be a dictator for one day.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><br><\/strong><strong>MAGA Mike Johnson once complained that impeaching a president close to an election could cause \u201cirreparable damage\u201d to the country. But now, at Donald Trump\u2019s behest, MAGA Mike and House Republicans are continuing their baseless impeachment inquiry, with some saying the quiet part out loud in admitting it\u2019s a political stunt to boost Donald Trump\u2019s campaign.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/12\/11\/politics\/kfile-johnson-impeachment-strategy-irreparable-damage-invs\/index.html\">CNN<\/a>: \u201cHouse Speaker Mike Johnson is pursuing an impeachment strategy against President Joe Biden that he once said could cause \u2018irreparable damage\u2019 to the country when Democrats sought to oust then-President Donald Trump, according to a CNN KFile review of his past public comments.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHe also complained that the effort derailed Congress from its real work of legislating.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNow Johnson, as the speaker of the House, seems to have abandoned his previous concerns about impeachment, and \u2014 with Republicans in control of the House \u2014 has said he fully supports such an inquiry along party lines and so close to a presidential election.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/news\/2023\/11\/mike-johnson-biden-impeachment-partisan-sham\">Vanity Fair<\/a>: \u201cMike Johnson Basically Admitted That Biden Impeachment Push Is a Partisan Sham: Report\u201d<br><br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2023\/12\/04\/republican-impeach-joe-biden-vote\/71803686007\/\">USA Today<\/a>: \u201cFor what it\u2019s worth, Rep. Troy Nehls, R-Texas, one of Trump\u2019s most vocal supporters in the House, has not shied away from pushing for Biden\u2019s impeachment in part to play politics.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf Trump, who has been impeached twice, is the 2024 Republican nominee, Nehls said he wants to give Trump \u2018a little bit of ammo to fire back\u2019 and say Biden has also been impeached.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/themessenger.com\/politics\/gingrich-warns-that-gop-votes-against-impeachment-will-guarantee-primary-challenges\">The Messenger<\/a>: \u201cFormer GOP House Speaker Newt Gingrich on Monday suggested moderate Republicans may go along with a new attempt to launch a presidential impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden because they could face primary threats if they don&#8217;t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2018If you\u2019re a Republican, do you really want to guarantee a primary opponent by voting against looking into [Biden]?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bombshell reporting undercut James Comer\u2019s baseless impeachment inquiry \u2014it turns out Comer has his own shell company and a long record of shady business partnerships with convicted criminals.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/comer-shell-company-biden-hunter-impeachment-6fde28673d5dced307b95cab8425c7ba\">Associated Press<\/a>: \u201cInterviews and records reviewed by The Associated Press provide new insights into the financial deal, which risks undercutting the force of some of Comer\u2019s central arguments in his impeachment inquiry of President Joe Biden. The court froze a lower court\u2019s ruling that would have allowed Kate Cox, who sued the state seeking a court-ordered abortion, to obtain the procedure. \u2018Without regard to the merits, the Court administratively stays the district court\u2019s December 7, 2023 order,\u2019 the order states.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/opinion\/columnist\/2023\/12\/10\/texas-abortion-case-judge-permission-healthcare-decisions\/71851981007\/\">USA Today: Opinion<\/a>: \u201cTexas is showing Americans the dark future women face if Republicans have full control of abortion rights. The state\u2019s abortion laws are so draconian, a 31-year-old woman had to ask a judge to grant her and her doctors permission to end a nonviable pregnancy that is putting her health and future ability to have children at risk.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2023\/09\/18\/donald-trump-ken-paxton-impeachment-trial\/\">Texas Tribune<\/a>: \u201cDonald Trump claims credit for saving Ken Paxton\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.msnbc.com\/morning-joe\/watch\/mika-texas-ag-is-so-desperate-to-mimic-trump-he-s-behaving-in-a-cruel-brutal-fashion-199912005843\">MSNBC<\/a>: \u201cMika: Texas\u2019 AG is so desperate to mimic Trump he\u2019s behaving in a cruel, brutal fashion\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Chris Sununu is in his endorsement flop era, and his latest victim is MAGA extremist Nikki Haley.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/12\/12\/us\/politics\/nikki-haley-chris-sununu-nh.html\">New York Times<\/a>: \u201cBut just how much weight it will carry is an open question in a primary in which nothing \u2014 not endorsements, not debates, not 91 felony charges \u2014 has changed the basic dynamic: Mr. Trump is the overwhelming favorite, and everybody else is fighting for second place.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2023\/12\/12\/chris-sununu-endorse-nikki-haley\/\">Washington Post<\/a>: \u201cSununu\u2019s endorsement means the Republican governors of the first two nominating states, Iowa and New Hampshire, are publicly supporting different Trump opponents. But Trump leads by a wide margin in polls of both states, underscoring the stark disconnect between many Republicans and their state elected leaders.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In New Hampshire, Nikki Haley refused to comment on state Republicans\u2019 proposed extreme abortion ban after vowing to sign any national abortion ban that landed on her desk and throwing her support behind extreme abortion bans.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/entry\/new-hampshire-15-day-abortion-ban_n_656f66dee4b0f3e5f44b124c\/amp\">HuffPost<\/a>: \u201cRepublicans in New Hampshire filed one of the most extreme abortion bans in the country on Tuesday.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BidenHQ\/status\/1734756296526610465\">Haley<\/a>: \u201cThe question asked in Iowa was, \u2018If you were governor of South Carolina and they sent you a six-week bill, would you sign it?\u2019 And I said yes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BidenHQ\/status\/1734751943870886057\">Haley<\/a>: \u201cI think a wrong was made right when [Roe v. Wade was overturned].\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BidenHQ\/status\/1734746245426495518\">Haley<\/a>: \u201cIs there a place for a federal law [banning abortion]? I think there is.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/nikki-haley-beliefs-opinion-republican-2024-1781155\">Newsweek<\/a>: \u201cHaley described herself as \u2018very pro-life\u2019 and has spent most of her political career fighting for anti-abortion legislation, including signing a law as South Carolina governor in 2016 banning the procedure in most circumstances after 19 weeks of pregnancy unless the mother\u2019s life is at risk.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ron DeSantis doubled down on echoing Donald Trump\u2019s plan to rip away health care and skyrocket costs for millions of Americans by repealing the Affordable Care Act.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1PdVD_3s4PjCMpYWaRk7ABQ6_kEGxPobh\/view\">DeSantis<\/a>: \u201cThat was one of [Trump\u2019s] big promises as president, he had Republican majorities, and didn\u2019t get the job done. \u2026 I opposed Obamacare, I did support the repeal and replace \u2026 What we\u2019ll end up doing is effectively just superseding Obamacare.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.staugustine.com\/story\/news\/local\/2012\/08\/04\/2012-08-04-6\/16169074007\/\">DeSantis<\/a>: \u201cWe must repeal ObamaCare \u2026 I have no desire to \u2018improve\u2019 or \u2018reform\u2019 ObamaCare. I intend to repeal it.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.news-journalonline.com\/story\/news\/2013\/03\/24\/pull-the-plug-on-obamacare-to-protect-consumers-economy\/30616915007\/\">DeSantis<\/a>: \u201cObamacare should never have been passed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/shark-tank.com\/2013\/05\/16\/scandal-plagued-obama-may-have-jump-started-tea-party-movement\/\">DeSantis<\/a>: \u201cThe full and complete repeal of ObamaCare is one of the most critical issues of our time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><br><\/strong><strong>When asked about Texas woman Kate Cox having to flee her state to access critical abortion health care, DeSantis bragged about the extreme abortion bans he has signed in Florida.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/05\/02\/health\/florida-abortion-term-pregnancy\/index.html#:~:text=Florida%20law%20allows%20abortions%20after,the%20abnormality%20was%20truly%20fatal.\">CNN<\/a>: \u201cFlorida law allows abortions after 15 weeks if two doctors confirm the diagnosis of a fatal fetal abnormality in writing, but doctors in Florida and states with similar laws have been hesitant to terminate such pregnancies for fear someone will question whether the abnormality was truly fatal. The penalties for violating the law are severe: Doctors can go to prison and face heavy fines and legal fees.\u201d<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/abortion-texas-nikki-haley-ron-desantis-acfa9e03cf7ea3511d3e6a1e746bee4e\">Associated Press<\/a>: \u201cAsked about Cox\u2019s case at a CNN town hall, DeSantis, who signed a six-week ban in his state earlier this year, said that \u2018these are very difficult issues\u2019 and pointed to Florida\u2019s exceptions allowing abortions when the mother\u2019s life is in danger or for a \u2018fatal fetal abnormality.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2018We have to approach these issues with compassion,\u2019 said DeSantis, though there have been reports in Florida of women who have not been able to obtain abortions under the exception because their doctors, facing steep penalties if they are wrong, were unwilling to perform the procedure. The window of time for women to make the wrenching choice is also limited.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCox\u2019s case and others like hers \u2018prove exceptions don\u2019t exist in reality,\u2019 said Angela Vasquez-Giroux, vice president of communications and research for the national group Reproductive Freedom for All.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2018If politicians like DeSantis and Haley really believed in exceptions and in compassion, they would have been fighting to find ways to work with doctors to clarify these laws and to help people facing these nightmarish situations in their own states to access care,\u2019 she said. \u2018They threw compassion out the window the moment they signed these bans.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/fineout\/status\/1734765300539600923?s=20\">Gary Fineout, Politico<\/a>: \u201cThe 6-week ban has not yet taken effect. Fla&#8217;s current 15-week ban does not include an exception for rape and incest. DeSantis signed that measure into law as well.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/floridapolitics.com\/archives\/649278-democrats-deride-ron-desantis-call-for-compassion-for-texas-mother-seeking-abortion\/\">Florida Politics<\/a>: \u201cDeSantis, however, has signed two laws that make it even more difficult than it is in Texas to get a medical exception to Florida\u2019s abortion bans.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Vivek Ramaswamy called on the Supreme Court to strike down the approval of a widely-used safe and effective abortion pill.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/campaign\/4359459-ramaswamy-supreme-court-should-rule-against-fda-approval-of-abortion-pill\/\">The Hill<\/a>: \u201cRamaswamy: Supreme Court should rule against FDA approval of abortion pill\u201d<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2018I believe that the Supreme Court should put the FDA back in its place,\u2019 he said.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/campaign\/4359459-ramaswamy-supreme-court-should-rule-against-fda-approval-of-abortion-pill\/\">Ramaswamy<\/a>: \u201cIt\u2019s my opinion\u2026 that the FDA exceeded its statutory authority in using an emergency approval to approve something that doesn\u2019t fit Congress\u2019s criteria for what actually counts as an emergency approval.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>House Republicans elected far-right extremist Bob Good as House Freedom Caucus chair, a champion in pushing forward their extreme MAGA agenda: chasing a baseless impeachment inquiry for political gain, advocating for ripping away health care and essential benefits, and calling for a government shutdown to score political points.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2022\/09\/30\/biden-impeachment-republicans-trump-comparison\">Axios<\/a>: \u201cRep. Bob Good (R-Va.), in an interview with Axios, floated using impeachment threats as leverage in policy negotiations: \u2018A fair trade off: we won\u2019t pursue impeachment, but you go back to Trump border policies that were working.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepBobGood\/status\/1731766147790295257\">@RepBobGood<\/a>: \u201cThe Bidens believe they are above the law and are relying on the media to run cover for them. No Republican should vote against a formal impeachment inquiry.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2022\/06\/24\/gop-eyes-federal-abortion-restrictions-dobbs\">Axios<\/a>: \u201cRep. Bob Good (R-Va.), who is championing a total abortion ban co-sponsored by more than 160 House Republicans, said, \u2018We need to do what our base sent us here to do and what is the right thing to do, which is to ban all abortion.\u2019\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/dncwarroom\/status\/1634287256436609025\">Good<\/a>: \u201cWe&#8217;re going to end the policies that have been expanded [Medicaid].\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.protectourcare.org\/republicans-push-more-legislation-to-weaken-protections-for-millions-of-people-with-pre-existing-conditions\/\">Protect Our Care<\/a>: \u201cSelf Insurance Protection Act: Introduced by Congressman Bob Good, this legislation will protect access to stop-loss insurance, insurance for employers who self-fund their employee benefit plans, but do not want to assume liability for losses.
