In response to the historic, record-breaking ACA enrollment numbers to the tune of 20 million new enrollees, <\/em>DNC National Press Secretary Sarafina Chitika released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA record 20 million Americans enrolled for health coverage under the Affordable Care Act, sending a clear message to Trump and MAGA Republicans that their plans to kill the ACA will cost them come November. President Biden continues to lead the charge to lower health care costs for American families, and today\u2019s news proves that Bidenomics continues to deliver, bringing relief to tens of millions of families who would otherwise not be able to afford care. While Donald Trump and the GOP rail against affordable health care, voters will reject them and their pathetic attempts to rip away coverage from Americans whose lives depend on it.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

NEW: The Biden-Harris administration just announced a record-breaking <\/strong>20 million Americans <\/em><\/strong>enrolled for coverage through the ACA last month. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra<\/a>: \u201cWhen you can say that there are 20 million Americans today who have peace of mind because they have their own health insurance coverage, that’s a success. And I’d say that the Affordable Care Act has proven that millions of Americans want that peace of mind.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Donald Trump and the entire 2024 Republican field are hellbent on getting rid of the ACA and ripping away access to affordable care from tens of millions of Americans. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Messenger<\/a>: \u201cFormer President Donald Trump said he is \u2018seriously looking at alternatives\u2019 to Obamacare in a new post on his social media platform Truth Social. He also called it a \u2018low point for the Republican Party\u2019 that lawmakers failed to \u2018terminate\u2019 the health insurance program established by the Affordable Care Act. According to the latest figures this year, more than 40 million Americans rely on the program for those who can’t afford private plans.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nikki Haley has a years-long record of wanting to rip away health care access under the ACA. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Haley<\/a>: \u201cWe have fought Obamacare in South Carolina as much as we possibly could.<\/strong> We said no to the state exchanges. We said no to the Medicaid expansion.\u2026They just turned around and set every state back with this bill that we know did not work.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Haley<\/a>: \u201cWhen it came to Obamacare, we didn\u2019t just say \u2018no,\u2019 we said \u2018never.\u2019\u2026 And we\u2019re going to keep on fighting until we get people like [Senator Tim Scott] and everybody else in Congress to defund Obamacare.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Haley<\/a>: \u201cWe would end a disastrous health care program<\/strong>, and replace it with reforms that lowered costs and actually let you keep your doctor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And Ron DeSantis wants to \u201cdo a lot more\u201d than just repeal the Affordable Care Act. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Justin Dougherty, Fox Carolina<\/a>: \u201cThe conversation about the Affordable Care Act \u2014 repealing and replacing it \u2014 has come up once again. Republicans failed to repeal it or replace it in 2017. If Republicans get control of Washington, [with] you in the White House, what\u2019s your plan to repeal or replace the Affordable Care Act?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DeSantis<\/strong>: \u201cWell, look, that was a big failure. Obviously, under the Trump administration, that was a core promise \u2014 it didn’t happen. You know, what we’re gonna do is we have this massive health care bureaucracy: pharmaceutical, government, insurance, all this stuff. It’s a total mess. We’re gonna have a comprehensive plan to lower people’s costs, and yes Obamacare hasn’t done it, so we\u2019ll transcend Obamacare, but I think you got to do a lot more than just that.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

MAGA Mike Johnson has pushed to repeal the Affordable Care Act and voted against President Biden\u2019s historic Inflation Reduction Act, which is lowering prescription drug costs. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Press Release, Office of Congressman Mike Johnson<\/a>: \u201cU.S. Rep. Mike Johnson joined 11 other freshman members of Congress in a letter published Tuesday by Fox News urging the U.S. Senate to act on repealing the Affordable Care Act.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hill<\/a>: \u201cAs chair of the conservative Republican Study Commission, he has backed health care proposals that the GOP has espoused for years, including a repeal of the Affordable Care Act.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daily Beast<\/a>: \u201cRep. Mike Johnson (R-LA), a member of House GOP leadership, said \u2018I assume\u2019 Republicans would move to repeal [the Inflation Reduction Act], but indicated it was still early.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s not forget that as many as 135 million Americans with preexisting conditions could lose critical protections if MAGA Republicans repealed the ACA. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spectrum News<\/a>: \u201cThe ACA protects more than 100 million people with preexisting conditions from being denied care, plus it requires insurance plans to cover things like preventive care and limit out-of-pocket costs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

KFF Poll<\/a>: \u201cMajorities of Democrats, Republicans, and independents say it is ‘very important’ to continue each of [the Affordable Care Act\u2019s] protections for people with pre-existing conditions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MAGA extremists\u2019 plan to get rid of the Affordable Care Act is highly unpopular with the American people and would be devastating for the millions of Americans whose lives depend on it. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jon Favreau<\/a>: \u201cIf Trump wins, 40 million people could lose their health care, and insurance companies would get to deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions. If Biden wins, that\u2026won\u2019t happen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

KFF Poll<\/a>: 64% believe it is \u201cvery important\u201d insurance companies continue to be prohibited from charging sick people more \u2013 including 55% of Republicans. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

NPR\/PBS NewsHour\/Marist Poll<\/a>: \u201cThirteen years after the Affordable Care Act was signed into law, more than eight in ten Americans (83%) either agree or strongly agree that all Americans have a basic right to healthcare coverage.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bryan Bennett<\/a>: \u201cPer our October @NavigatorSurvey research, repealing the ACA (and January 6) remain the top concerns about Trump\u2019s first term as president\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington Post<\/a>: \u201cBut what\u2019s clear is that an effort to \u2018terminate\u2019 Obamacare is not something Americans are pining for.
