Wade<\/em><\/strong><strong>, Arizona Republicans\u2019 abortion ban immediately went into effect \u2013&nbsp;and now they are attempting to reinstate a near-total abortion ban from the 1860s.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/politics\/elections\/arizona-is-the-next-abortion-battleground-afae13a3\">Wall Street Journal<\/a>: <strong>\u201cThe state Supreme Court is set to hear arguments on Tuesday about whether to allow a near-total abortion ban dating back to 1864 to take effect.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2023\/dec\/12\/arizona-abortion-ban-supreme-court\">The Guardian<\/a>: <strong>\u201cArizona court weighs 1864 abortion ban that risks \u2018conditions of misery\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cIn the months after the US supreme court overturned Roe v Wade, abortion flickered in and out of legality in Arizona as state courts attempted to interpret a long-dormant 19th-century abortion ban that was suddenly relevant again.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.azmirror.com\/2023\/12\/12\/arizona-supreme-court-weighs-the-future-of-legal-abortion\/\">Arizona Mirror<\/a>: <strong>\u201cIn June 2022, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, eliminating the constitutional right to abortion and giving the ability to restrict or outright ban the procedure back to the states. Just two months before that landmark decision, Arizona Republicans, who hold a majority in the state legislature, had approved a 15-week ban in anticipation of the federal court\u2019s ruling. Without the protection of Roe, the ban was upheld as lawful where before it might have been struck down via a constitutional challenge.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BidenHQ\/status\/1745277154236260693\">Trump<\/a>: <strong>\u201cFor 54 years they were trying to get <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/roe-v-wade\"><strong><em>Roe v. It was a low point for the Republican Party, but <strong>we should never give up!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Trump owns his extreme record of proposing cuts in every single one of his budgets to Social Security programs that Arizonans rely on.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/states.aarp.org\/arizona\/az-monthly-social-security-content-series-june#:~:text=Nearly%20one%20in%20five%20Arizona,least%20half%20of%20their%20income.\">AARP<\/a>: <strong>\u201cNearly one in five Arizona residents \u2013 1,468,715 million people \u2013 receive Social Security benefits, and 45 percent of residents 65 and older rely on the program for at least half of their income.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kff.org\/medicare\/state-indicator\/total-disabled-social-security-disability-insurance-ssdi-beneficiaries-ages-18-64\/?currentTimeframe=0&amp;sortModel=%7B%22colId%22:%22Location%22,%22sort%22:%22asc%22%7D\">KFF<\/a>: 140,421 people in Arizona are SSDI beneficiaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2023\/02\/09\/trump-desantis-biden-social-security-medicare\/\">Washington Post<\/a>: \u201cHis avowed stance, however, is at odds with Trump\u2019s own record as president: <strong>Each of his White House budget proposals included cuts to Social Security and Medicare programs.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/policy-and-politics\/2019\/3\/12\/18260271\/trump-medicaid-social-security-medicare-budget-cuts\">Vox<\/a>: <strong>\u201cTrump said he wouldn\u2019t cut Medicaid, Social Security, and Medicare. His 2020 budget cuts all 3.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/newshour\/politics\/winners-losers-trumps-budget-proposal\">FY18<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/policy-and-politics\/2018\/2\/6\/16735966\/social-security-disability-insurance\">FY19<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/03\/11\/us\/politics\/trump-budget.html\">FY20<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/medicare-medicaid-social-security-trumps-proposed-budget-slashes-entitlements-campaign-1486595\">FY21<\/a> budgets each proposed billions of dollars in cuts to Social Security programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Trump repeatedly proposed billions in cuts to Medicaid \u2013 even though it provides health coverage for one in five Arizonans.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/story\/2017\/05\/22\/trump-budget-cut-social-programs-238696\">FY18<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/business\/lazarus\/la-fi-lazarus-trump-drug-prices-20180212-story.html\">FY19<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/national\/health-science\/trump-proposes-big-cuts-to-health-programs-for-poor-elderly-and-disabled\/2019\/03\/11\/55e42a56-440c-11e9-aaf8-4512a6fe3439_story.html?utm_term=.d9d38f12e9f7\">FY20<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/02\/10\/business\/economy\/trump-budget-explained-facts.html\">FY21<\/a> budgets, <strong>Trump repeatedly proposed hundreds of billions in cuts to Medicaid.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/files.kff.org\/attachment\/fact-sheet-medicaid-state-AZ\"><strong>KFF<\/strong><\/a><strong>: 21% of Arizona\u2019s population is covered by Medicaid\/CHIP.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/files.kff.org\/attachment\/fact-sheet-medicaid-state-AZ\">KFF<\/a>: Five of every nine nursing home residents in Arizona are covered by Medicaid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Trump\u2019s MAGAnomics tax scam \u2013 which he wants to double down on \u2013&nbsp;rigged the economy for the ultra-wealthy and big corporations at the expense of Arizona\u2019s middle class.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/business\/2024\/01\/12\/trump-tax-cuts-2024\/\">Washington Post<\/a>: \u201cBehind closed doors, Trump eyes second round of corporate tax cuts\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNonpartisan estimates have found that Trump\u2019s tax cut added more than $2 trillion to the federal debt. In 2018, the richest 20 percent of taxpayers saw an average of $7,600 in savings from the 2017 tax law, compared with just $930 in savings for middle-income households, according to the Tax Policy Center, a nonpartisan think tank. <strong>Making the tax cuts permanent would cost $3 trillion, the center said in 2022.
