Donald Trump said it himself: Without him, none of the extreme abortion bans being pushed by MAGA Republicans across the country would be possible. With Trump now closing in on the Republican nomination, we\u2019re reminding voters of the severe consequences of his anti-choice extremism and what is at stake for women across America in this election, state by state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As MAGA Republicans in North Dakota led by Doug Burgum try to rip away women\u2019s freedoms and throw doctors in jail as a result of Donald Trump\u2019s actions to overturn Roe v. Wade, <\/em>DNC National Press Secretary Sarafina Chitika released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSince Donald Trump\u2019s hand-picked justices overturned Roe v. Wade<\/em>, North Dakota Republicans \u2013 led by Trump\u2019s MAGA minion Doug Burgum \u2013 have pursued a draconian anti-choice agenda that is ripping away women\u2019s freedoms and threatening doctors. Thanks to Trump, Burgum signed into law one of the most extreme abortion bans in the country that severely restricts exceptions for rape and incest and could even throw doctors in jail for performing an abortion to save a woman\u2019s life. Now, Trump is not only demanding credit for cruel abortion bans like this one, but also touting his support from MAGA govenors like Burgum who are leading the charge to push an extreme and out-of-touch agenda \u2013 making it crystal clear what\u2019s at stake for women this November.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

North Dakota Republicans passed one of the most extreme abortion bans in the country with no exceptions for rape or incest after six weeks that is threatening providers with jail time.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

ABC News<\/a>: \u201cNorth Dakota court keeps strict abortion ban in place even in cases of medical emergencies\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Associated Press<\/a>: \u201cA North Dakota judge ruled Tuesday that he won\u2019t block a part of a state law that doctors say puts them at risk of prosecution if they perform an abortion to save a patient\u2019s life or health.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Associated Press<\/a>: \u201cNorth Dakota governor signs law banning nearly all abortions\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York Times<\/a>: \u201cNorth Dakota became the latest state on Monday to enact a near-total ban on abortion, just one month after the State Supreme Court temporarily blocked a similar ban from taking effect. Under the new law, an abortion in the case of rape or incest would be permissible only in the first six weeks of pregnancy, a time when most women have not yet realized they are pregnant.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Associated Press<\/a>: \u201cNorth Dakota no longer has any abortion clinics. <\/strong>Last summer, the state\u2019s only facility, the Red River Women\u2019s Clinic, shut its doors in Fargo and moved operations a short distance across the border to Moorhead, Minnesota, where abortion remains legal.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Donald Trump is demanding credit for the extreme abortion bans that MAGA Republicans have passed around the country and said he is \u201cproud\u201d of his work to help overturn <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cFor 54 years they were trying to get <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong><\/a> terminated, and I did it, and I\u2019m proud to have done it. \u2026 Nobody else was going to get that done but me, and we did it, and we did something that was a miracle.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cAfter 50 years of failure, with nobody coming even close, I was able to kill <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>, much to the \u2018shock\u2019 of everyone \u2026 Without me there would be no 6 weeks, 10 weeks, 15 weeks, or whatever is finally agreed to.<\/strong> Without me the pro Life movement would have just kept losing. FWIW<\/a>: \u201cThis week, we found more evidence that the Trump campaign has no interest in \u2018moderating\u2019 on the issue of abortion. On Monday, his team began running new Facebook video ads targeting voters in Iowa, referring to Trump as \u2018THE MOST Pro-Life President in history.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cI’m the one that got rid of <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>, and everybody said that was an impossible thing to do. I put on three Supreme Court justices. Very few people have had that privilege or honor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cGetting rid of <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong> was an incredible thing<\/strong> for pro-life because it gave pro-life something to negotiate with. Pro-life had absolutely nothing, being stuck in Roe v. Wade<\/em>, to negotiate with. \u2026 And look, everybody that was president wanted to get rid and tried to get rid of Roe v. Wade<\/em> … For fifty years, this has been going on. I was able to do it, and I was very honored to do it.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump supports a national abortion ban and has a yearslong extreme anti-abortion record. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cThere of course remains a vital role for the federal government in protecting unborn life. And it\u2019s very important.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hill<\/a>: \u201cThe Trump administration formally backed a House bill Monday that would ban abortions after 20 weeks. <\/strong>\u2026 It would make it a crime to perform or attempt an abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy, with the possibility of a fine, up to five years in prison or both.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nikki Haley has pledged to sign any nationwide abortion ban that landed on her desk. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Haley: \u201cI’ve said I’m fine with a federal law.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Haley: \u201cI would support anything that would pass.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Haley<\/a>: \u201cWhatever we can get 60 Senate votes on, isn\u2019t that better than what we have now? And if it\u2019s\u2013 if it\u2019s six weeks, that\u2019s great. If it\u2019s 15 weeks, that\u2019s great.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
