Prosecutors and legal experts are slamming Special Counsel Hur\u2019s \u201centirely inappropriate\u201d and \u201ctotally gratuitous\u201d political cheap shots that came straight from MAGA Republican talking points. One legal expert has flagged that the report \u201cis flatly inconsistent with longstanding DOJ traditions,\u201d with another calling it \u201cexactly what you’re not supposed to do\u201d as a prosecutor, making it clear that Hur was \u201cabsolutely\u201d playing politics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prosecutors and legal experts are calling out the special counsel for gratuitously attacking the president despite concluding his investigation with no prosecution or indictments.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

HuffPost<\/a>: \u201cLegal analysts on Thursday were stunned by special counsel Robert Hur\u2019s decision to release a report attacking President Joe Biden\u2019s age and memory while also clearing him in the classified documents case.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Former Attorney General Eric Holder<\/a>: \u201cSpecial Counsel Hur report on Biden classified documents issues contains way too many gratuitous remarks and is flatly inconsistent with long standing DOJ traditions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Had this report been subject to a normal DOJ review these remarks would undoubtedly have been excised.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andrew Weissmann, MSNBC legal analyst<\/a>: \u201cEntirely inappropriate, that is not the role of the Department of Justice. \u2026 It is gratuitous. It’s also exactly what you’re not supposed to do, which is putting your thumb on the scale that could have political repercussions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Former Acting Solicitor General Neal Katyal<\/a>: \u201cTotally gratuitous. \u2026 It feels like a too-clever move by the special counsel to try and take some swipes at a sitting president, and it doesn’t sit well with me at all.
