In response to reporting that Trump has plans for a national abortion ban in a second term, <\/em>DNC National Press Secretary Sarafina Chitika released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDonald Trump\u2019s hand-picked Supreme Court justices already killed Roe v. Wade<\/em>, and today new bombshell reporting revealed his plans for a national abortion ban in a second term. Today\u2019s reporting is par for the course for a candidate who has called for punishing women who have an abortion and pushed an extreme anti-choice agenda while in office. Now, Trump is making it clear that access to abortion for all women is on the ballot this November \u2013 and voters will once again reject his unpopular and extreme plans for a nationwide ban.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

New reporting says Trump has admitted to supporting a national abortion ban despite falsely claiming he just wanted to send it \u201cback to the states.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York Times<\/a>: \u201cTrump Privately Expresses Support for a 16-Week Abortion Ban\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sahil Kapur<\/a>: \u201cThe Supreme Court justices who overturned Roe v. Wade didn’t just send the issue back to \u2018the states.\u2019 They also sent it back to Congress, which can now restrict or ban abortion nationwide<\/strong>. The president has the power to sign or veto any such bills.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump has claimed credit for every extreme abortion ban passed thanks to his work in overturning <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cFor 54 years they were trying to get <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong><\/a> terminated, and I did it, and I\u2019m proud to have done it. \u2026 Nobody else was going to get that done but me<\/strong>, and we did it, and we did something that was a miracle.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cAfter 50 years of failure, with nobody coming even close, I was able to kill <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>, much to the \u2018shock\u2019 of everyone \u2026 Without me there would be no 6 weeks, 10 weeks, 15 weeks, or whatever is finally agreed to.<\/strong> Without me the pro Life movement would have just kept losing. Thank you President TRUMP!!!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump campaign radio ad<\/a>: “And Trump nominated conservative judges, leading to Roe v. Wade<\/em> being overturned.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FWIW<\/a>: \u201cThis week, we found more evidence that the Trump campaign has no interest in \u2018moderating\u2019 on the issue of abortion. On Monday, his team began running new Facebook video ads targeting voters in Iowa, referring to Trump as \u2018THE MOST Pro-Life President in history.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cI’m the one that got rid of <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>, and everybody said that was an impossible thing to do. I put on three Supreme Court justices. Very few people have had that privilege or honor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cGetting rid of <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong> was an incredible thing<\/strong> for pro-life because it gave pro-life something to negotiate with. Pro-life had absolutely nothing, being stuck in Roe v. Wade<\/em>, to negotiate with. \u2026 And look, everybody that was president wanted to get rid and tried to get rid of Roe v. Wade<\/em> … For fifty years, this has been going on. I was able to do it, and I was very honored to do it.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump has waged a yearslong crusade against women\u2019s reproductive freedom, including supporting a national abortion ban. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cThere of course remains a vital role for the federal government in protecting unborn life. And it\u2019s very important.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
