In response to Donald Trump clinching the Republican nomination on an extreme and unpopular MAGA platform, <\/em>DNC Rapid Response Director Alex Floyd released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo one can pick a loser like the Republican Party. After falling short in election after election since their colossal failure in 2020, they\u2019re once again entering the general election with Donald Trump as their standard bearer, saddled with an unpopular and dangerous agenda that voters keep rejecting at the ballot box. They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results \u2013 so we know that the Republicans have really lost it when they once again back a proven loser who is pushing to ban abortion nationwide, rip away health care coverage from millions, rig the economy for the ultra-wealthy, slash hard-earned benefits for our seniors, and threaten our democracy by pledging to be a \u2018dictator on day one\u2019 while promising to pardon violent insurrectionists. Trump\u2019s out-of-touch ultra-MAGA agenda already lost him one election, and his attempts to double down on the same unpopular policies will make him a loser yet again this November.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump\u2019s unpopular anti-choice platform includes <\/strong>banning abortion nationwide<\/strong><\/a>, <\/strong>bragging<\/strong><\/a> about extreme abortion bans he made possible, and <\/strong>paving the way<\/strong><\/a> for new threats to IVF access for families across America. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

USA Today<\/a>: \u201cAmericans overwhelmingly oppose the next goal of many anti-abortion activists, to enact a federal law banning abortion nationwide. By 80%-14%, those surveyed opposed that idea, including 65% of Republicans and 83% of independents.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Axios<\/a>: \u201cMost Americans support abortion access one year after Roe v. Wade: poll\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cA 64% majority of US adults say they disapprove of last year\u2019s Supreme Court ruling that women do not have a constitutional right to an abortion, with half strongly disapproving \u2013 an assessment that\u2019s almost entirely unchanged from CNN\u2019s poll last July in the immediate wake of the decision.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the Affordable Care Act is decisively popular with the American people, Trump is <\/strong>vowing to repeal<\/strong><\/a> the ACA, telling Republicans to \u201c<\/strong>never give up<\/strong><\/a>\u201d their efforts to rip away health care coverage from millions of Americans. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Axios<\/a>: \u201cThe ACA’s protections for people with pre-existing conditions have proved especially popular, with 79% of Americans \u2014 including 66% of Republicans \u2014 saying in 2020 that they did not want the Supreme Court to overturn those protections.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NPR\/PBS NewsHour\/Marist Poll<\/a>: \u201cThirteen years after the Affordable Care Act was signed into law, more than eight in ten Americans (83%) either agree or strongly agree that all Americans have a basic right to healthcare coverage.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bryan Bennett, Navigator Research<\/a>: \u201cPer our October @NavigatorSurvey research, repealing the ACA (and January 6) remain the top concerns about Trump\u2019s first term as president\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington Post<\/a>: \u201cWhat\u2019s clear is that an effort to \u2018terminate\u2019 Obamacare is not something Americans are pining for. Not only were the GOP\u2019s efforts to repeal and replace Obamacare during Trump\u2019s term historically unpopular, but the law also appears to have gotten more popular since then.<\/strong> \u2026 And when politicians talk of ending health insurance for tens of millions of Americans, dropping coverage of preexisting conditions and cutting Obamacare\u2019s Medicaid funding, things get even dicier.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump is running on his failed MAGAnomics agenda of <\/strong>gifting tax breaks<\/strong><\/a> to the ultra-wealthy while <\/strong>gutting<\/strong><\/a> hard-earned benefits for our seniors like Social Security and Medicare.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fox News<\/a>: \u201cFox News Poll: 71% choose funding Social Security, Medicare over budget cuts\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sahil Kapur, NBC News<\/a>: \u201cDigging deeper into this @FoxNews finding. Support for funding entitlements like Social Security & Medicare over reducing deficits is overwhelming with the GOP base:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conservatives 60-36%<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cNearly 67 million Americans have received monthly Social Security benefits this year, and more than 66 million people are enrolled in Medicare. Polling shows little support for major changes to the programs themselves<\/strong> to help shore up their finances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA March CNN\/SSRS poll of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents, for instance, found that 59% said it was \u2018essential\u2019 that the GOP nominee for president \u2018pledges to maintain Social Security and Medicare as they are.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump is vowing to be a \u2018<\/strong>dictator on day one<\/strong><\/a>\u2019 and promising to <\/strong>pardon violent January 6 insurrectionists<\/strong><\/a> while doubling down on his <\/strong>election denialism<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 all of which is alarming to the American people.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hill<\/a>: \u201cJust over two-thirds of registered voters in a new poll said they do not believe that those who participated in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot should be pardoned, an idea that has been floated by former President Trump.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hill<\/a>: \u201cMore than half of all voters believe former President Trump will act like a dictator if reelected to office, according to a new poll.<\/strong> The Harvard CAPS-Harris poll found that 56 percent of those surveyed at least somewhat agree that Trump \u2026 will act like a dictator if given a second term, including almost 40 percent who strongly agree.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quinnipiac<\/a>: \u201cA majority of voters (53 percent) say they are concerned by a recent comment former President Donald Trump made saying he wants to be a dictator for one day if he wins the 2024 presidential election.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

YouGov<\/a>: \u201cMost Americans are supportive of democracy and think dictatorship would be bad for the United States. \u2026 Only 4% of Americans say it would be a good thing for the U.S. to have a dictator in charge<\/strong>, while 80% disagree. That includes 89% of 2020 Biden voters and 87% of 2020 Trump voters.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington Post<\/a>: \u201c71 percent of Americans say they\u2019re not confident Trump will accept the 2024 results if he loses<\/strong> \u2014 at which point the many people who viewed what happened after the 2020 election as being very bad could be made to fear some kind of repeat.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike Trump<\/strong><\/a>, voters want to see Congress take action to secure the border: Two-thirds of Americans support the bipartisan border security deal that Trump directed MAGA Republicans to reject.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Navigator Research<\/a>: \u201cTwo in Three Americans Support the Bipartisan Immigration Deal\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTwo in three Americans supported the bipartisan immigration deal reached in the Senate, but that will not be taken up for a vote in the House. \u2026 On the Republican approach to the recent immigration package, Americans\u2019 greatest concerns are that they are focused on the wrong issues and playing politics.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe immigration deal earns support across party lines, including among three in four Republicans (net +58; 74 percent support \u201316 percent oppose), two in three independents (net +48; 64 percent support \u2013 16 percent oppose), and three in five Democrats (net +32; 59 percent support \u2013 27 percent oppose).\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Third Way<\/a>: \u201cVoters like the deal, both as a whole and individual components. \u2026 <\/strong>Across the board, both swing and base voters are remarkably aligned in favor of the big security components of the deal. \u2026 It\u2019s not just the tough on the border policies that voters like\u2014they also understand that a major piece of restoring order must be providing orderly pathways for people to come to this country in other ways.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Trump tells gun violence victims to \u201c<\/strong>get over it<\/strong><\/a>\u201d and <\/strong>cozies up<\/strong><\/a> to the NRA, voters overwhelmingly support commonsense gun safety reform.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fox News<\/a>: \u201cFox News Poll: Voters favor gun limits over arming citizens to reduce gun violence\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pew Research<\/a>: \u201cOther gun policy proposals, including banning high-capacity magazines (66%) and banning assault-style weapons (64%), continue to draw majority support.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
