In case you missed it: Trump once again called for cuts to Social Security and Medicare; Trump met with and once again praised another dictator; and the RNC hired an election denier and self-described \u201cconspiracy theorist\u201d\u2026 to lead their \u201celection integrity\u201d unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, MAGA Republican senators blocked IVF protections; anti-abortion extremists with ties to Trump are pushing to ban IVF access; Republicans have decided they want to talk more about their cruel anti-choice agenda; and Trump\u2019s MAGA minion Elise Stefanik bragged about bringing federal infrastructure money home to her district despite the fact that she voted against the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This week, Donald Trump doubled down on his plans to gut Social Security and Medicare, which voters <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dataforprogress.org\/blog\/2023\/6\/28\/voters-overwhelmingly-oppose-the-creation-of-a-commission-to-cut-social-security-and-medicare\"><strong>overwhelmingly don\u2019t want<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bidenhq\/status\/1767158825063153721?t=ls87QPbTuOCOdDfWvWTC1Q\">Joe Kernen, CNBC<\/a>: \u201cHave you changed your outlook on how to handle entitlements, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump: \u201cSo first of all, there is a lot you can do in terms of entitlements, in terms of cutting.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/politics\/2024\/3\/12\/24098773\/trump-social-security-medicare-cuts-entitlements-position-2024\">Vox<\/a>: \u201cTrump just opened the door to Social Security cuts. In Europe and around the world, they respect him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/03\/11\/politics\/trump-despots-advisers-sound-alarm\/index.html\">CNN<\/a>: \u201cTrump former advisers sound the alarm that he praises despots in private and on the campaign trail\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTo Donald Trump, Hungarian strongman Viktor Orb\u00e1n is \u2018fantastic,\u2019 Chinese leader Xi Jinping is \u2018brilliant,\u2019 North Korea\u2019s Kim Jong Un is \u2018an OK guy,\u2019 and, most alarmingly, he allegedly said Adolf Hitler \u2018did some good things,\u2019 a worldview that would reverse decades-old US foreign policy in a second term should he win November\u2019s presidential election, multiple former senior advisers told CNN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2018He thought Putin was an OK guy and Kim was an OK guy \u2014 that we had pushed North Korea into a corner,\u2019 retired Gen. John Kelly, who served as Trump\u2019s chief of staff, told me. \u2018To him, it was like we were goading these guys. \u2018If we didn\u2019t have NATO, then Putin wouldn\u2019t be doing these things.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The RNC\u2019s Trump-led extreme MAGA shakeup is officially underway, and one of their first orders of business was to hire election denier Christina Bobb to lead their \u201celection integrity\u201d efforts.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/entry\/rnc-gop-republican-party-leadership-election-denial_n_65f21339e4b01707c6d2e3ac\">HuffPost<\/a>: \u201cElection Deniers Have Taken Over The RNC After A Trump Shake-Up\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2024\/03\/12\/rnc-trump-firings-takeover\/\">Washington Post<\/a>: \u201cLaCivita is installing Christina Bobb \u2014 a former OAN reporter who has espoused false claims that the 2020 election was stolen \u2014 as senior counsel for election integrity. Bobb is the author of a book called \u2018Stealing Your Vote: The Inside Story of the 2020 Election and What It Means for 2024\u2019 and promoted the audit of Arizona elections.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediamatters.org\/qanon-conspiracy-theory\/trump-attorney-christina-bobb-goes-qanon-show-tour-promote-her-book-while\">Media Matters<\/a>: \u201cWithin a two-week span, Christina Bobb, an attorney for former President Donald Trump, has gone on multiple online shows affiliated with the QAnon conspiracy theory movement to promote her new book about supposed election fraud. During her appearances, Bobb has discussed being part of Trump\u2019s 2024 presidential campaign, pushed false claims of election fraud, and floated new conspiracy theories, while calling herself \u2018a conspiracy theorist.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/entry\/rnc-christina-bobb-election-integrity_n_65f18477e4b09953f2f83fe0\">HuffPost<\/a>: \u201cChristina Bobb, who spouted election falsehoods as a host for ultra-conservative One America News Network, not only embraced Trump\u2019s big lie that he was robbed of victory in the 2020 election but also wrote a book about it, \u2018Stealing Your Vote: The Inside Story of the 2020 Election and What It Means for 2024.\u2019\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>MAGA Senate Republicans blocked a bill that would help service members and veterans access IVF.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/alannavagianos\/status\/1767659893945725078\">Alanna Vagianos, HuffPost<\/a>: \u201cJust now: Senate Republicans block a bill to protect IVF &amp; other fertility services for veterans &amp; service members.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/va-expand-ivf-policies-include-single-same-sex\/story?id=108055239\">Sen. Patty Murray<\/a>: \u201c&#8230;It&#8217;s pretty clear Republicans do not support IVF despite their language &#8212; not even for wounded service members and for veterans.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI will not stop working on this &#8212; it&#8217;s the right thing to do.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wisconsinexaminer.com\/2024\/03\/13\/gop-u-s-sen-lankford-of-oklahoma-blocks-bill-expanding-ivf-for-vets-service-members\/\">Sen. Patty Murray<\/a>: \u201cIf Republicans really do now want to support IVF, if they really do want to help people trying to grow their family \u2014 why not start with our veterans and our service members? These are the men and women who fought to protect our families. Why don\u2019t we make sure they have the support they need to grow theirs?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Extreme MAGA anti-abortion groups with ties to Donald Trump are openly pushing Republicans to restrict IVF access \u2013 and their ultimate goal is banning IVF.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2024\/03\/12\/anti-abortion-advocates-gop-ivf-00146369\">Politico<\/a>: \u201c\u2018License to kill\u2019: Anti-abortion groups rage against the GOP\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs many politicians raced in recent weeks to get to the right side of public opinion on IVF, some of the country\u2019s biggest and most influential anti-abortion groups are pushing back.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn Alabama, the anti-abortion movement resoundingly condemned a bill shielding IVF providers from criminal and civil charges, and pressured GOP Gov. Kay Ivey to veto it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn Congress, anti-abortion groups are vowing to penalize GOP members if they support pro-IVF bills they believe go too far.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis week, leaders of two of the country\u2019s biggest groups \u2014 Susan B. Anthony List and March for Life \u2014 will attend House Republicans\u2019 annual policy retreat. \u2026 They want lawmakers to seize the moment created by the Alabama decision to impose restrictions on the way IVF is commonly practiced in the U.S.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSome Republicans lawmakers are heeding the anti-abortion movement\u2019s concerns. In Iowa, House GOP lawmakers voted last week to advance legislation that would give embryos and fetuses personhood rights, despite concerns from Democrats and others that the legislation would hamper IVF access. And GOP lawmakers in Tennessee recently rejected legislation proposed by their Democratic colleagues to protect IVF access, saying that such legislation was unnecessary.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Republicans have a new losing strategy \u2013&nbsp;talking MORE about their cruel and unpopular anti-abortion agenda that is ripping away women\u2019s freedoms.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/politics\/policy\/republicans-new-abortion-strategy-talk-about-it-more-not-less-d68d80ef?mod=politics_lead_pos3\">Wall Street Journal<\/a>: \u201cRepublicans\u2019 New Abortion Strategy: Talk About It More, Not Less\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRepublicans leading the party\u2019s effort to defend the House in this fall\u2019s elections are pushing GOP colleagues to openly discuss their positions on abortion, rather than try to sidestep the issue like many did in the previous campaign, arguing that doing so will be critical to winning competitive races.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAbortion has weighed on the party\u2019s success in recent years. Republicans won back the House in 2022 but by a narrower-than-expected margin, a far cry from the \u2018red wave\u2019 they had hoped would sweep them to a big majority in the chamber. Lawmakers from both parties say the Supreme Court\u2019s decision that year ending the right to an abortion revved up abortion-rights voters and helped Democrats defend seats.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMore than a dozen GOP-controlled states have enacted a near ban on abortion, many of those with few exceptions for rape or incest. Others, like Florida, have banned abortion after six weeks of pregnancy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhile some congressional Republicans do support near-complete bans on abortions or restrictions that kick in at six weeks, others have backed bans after 15 weeks of pregnancy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIssues around reproductive rights are already causing headaches for Republicans in this election cycle.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Trump\u2019s MAGA minion Elise Stefanik got caught in a bold-faced lie after taking credit for water infrastructure funding, provided in part by President Biden&#8217;s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that she voted against.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.msnbc.com\/rachel-maddow-show\/maddowblog\/stefanik-latest-republican-tout-funding-voted-rcna143366\">MSNBC<\/a>: \u201cStefanik is the latest Republican to tout funding she voted against\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGOP lawmakers have a habit of voting against Democratic legislation, only to turn around and take credit when the Democratic legislation makes investments in their states and districts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTake this week, for example. House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik issued this press release touting news in her upstate New York district.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA day later, there was some discussion about the funding for the local project coming by way of the Inflation Reduction Act, which Stefanik opposed and condemned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBut that apparently wasn\u2019t quite right: The funding came from a different Democratic bill \u2014 which Stefanik also opposed and condemned.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/briantylercohen\/status\/1767951622209224905?s=20\">Brian Tyler Cohen, MSNBC<\/a>: \u201cYou voted against it, @RepStefanik.
