In response to Donald Trump once again <\/em>demanding credit<\/em><\/a> for ending Roe v. Wade and the resulting extreme abortion bans in states across the country, <\/em>DNC spokesperson Aida Ross released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDonald Trump is making it clear: He is loudly claiming credit for the decision to \u2018kill Roe v. Wade<\/em>\u2019 and create a horrifying reality for women across the country living under cruel abortion bans, most of which have no exceptions for rape or incest. Trump is the reason why one-third of American women can\u2019t access reproductive care, and if given the chance, he\u2019ll go even further to rip away basic freedoms from more of us. The American people understand what\u2019s at stake with Trump\u2019s extreme and unpopular anti-choice agenda \u2013 and that\u2019s why they will make him a loser once again this November.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Take it from Donald Trump himself \u2013 he is demanding credit for the reversal of <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong> and the ensuing cruel abortion bans across the country.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cI was proudly the person responsible for the ending of \u2026 <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cAfter 50 years of failure, with nobody coming even close, I was able to kill <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong> \u2026 Without me there would be no 6 weeks, 10 weeks, 15 weeks, or whatever is finally agreed to.<\/strong> Without me the pro Life movement would have just kept losing. Thank you President TRUMP!!!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cFor 54 years they were trying to get <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong><\/a> terminated, and I did it, and I\u2019m proud to have done it. \u2026 Nobody else was going to get that done but me<\/strong>, and we did it, and we did something that was a miracle.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cI’m the one that got rid of <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>, and everybody said that was an impossible thing to do. I put on three Supreme Court justices. Very few people have had that privilege or honor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cGetting rid of <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong> was an incredible thing<\/strong> for pro-life because it gave pro-life something to negotiate with. Pro-life had absolutely nothing, being stuck in Roe v. Wade<\/em>, to negotiate with. \u2026 And look, everybody that was president wanted to get rid and tried to get rid of Roe v. Wade<\/em> … For fifty years, this has been going on. I was able to do it, and I was very honored to do it.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump campaign radio ad<\/a>: “And Trump nominated conservative judges, leading to Roe v. Wade<\/em> being overturned.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FWIW<\/a>: \u201cThis week, we found more evidence that the Trump campaign has no interest in \u2018moderating\u2019 on the issue of abortion. On Monday, his team began running new Facebook video ads targeting voters in Iowa, referring to Trump as \u2018THE MOST Pro-Life President in history.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s not forget: Trump said he would sign a national abortion ban if elected to a second term.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Associated Press<\/a>: \u201cTrump says he will support national ban on abortions around 15 weeks of pregnancy\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cThere of course remains a vital role for the federal government in protecting unborn life. And it\u2019s very important.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump on if he would sign a six-week national abortion ban<\/a>: \u201cI’m looking at all options.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cWe’ll pick something that’s going to be very, very good for pro-life \u2026 I\u2019m going to be in there pushing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump also backed a national abortion ban during his first term and said women should be punished for getting an abortion.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hill<\/a>: \u201cThe Trump administration formally backed a House bill Monday that would ban abortions after 20 weeks. <\/strong>\u2026 It would make it a crime to perform or attempt an abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy, with the possibility of a fine, up to five years in prison or both.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cThere has to be some form of punishment [for women who have an abortion].\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are just some of Trump\u2019s cruel abortion bans that women are forced to suffer under across America \u2013 most of which have no exceptions for rape or incest:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alabama<\/a>: \u201cAbortions became almost entirely illegal in Alabama on June 24. A 2019 state abortion ban took effect making it a felony to perform an abortion at any stage of pregnancy, with no exceptions for pregnancies caused by rape or incest.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arizona<\/a>: \u201cArizona court weighs 1864 abortion ban that risks \u2018conditions of misery\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arkansas<\/a>: \u201cArkansas bans nearly all abortions after Roe v. Wade overturned\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Florida<\/a>: \u201cFlorida\u2019s new restrictions will chip away at the little abortion access left in the South\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Georgia<\/a>: \u201cGeorgia abortion ban remains in effect after state Supreme Court ruling\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kentucky<\/a>: \u201cAbortion is banned in almost all circumstances.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Louisiana<\/a>: \u201cLouisiana abortion ban preserved after lawmakers kill bill to call public vote\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Missouri<\/a>: \u201cRepublicans block attempt to add rape, incest exemptions to Missouri\u2019s abortion ban\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

North Carolina<\/a>: \u201cNorth Carolina\u2019s abortion law may make traveling to end a pregnancy impossible for some in the South\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

North Dakota<\/a>: \u201cNorth Dakota court keeps strict abortion ban in place even in cases of medical emergencies\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oklahoma<\/a>: \u201cAbortion is banned in almost all circumstances.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

South Dakota<\/a>: \u201cAbortions now illegal in South Dakota following Supreme Court\u2019s ruling\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tennessee<\/a>: \u201cAmid uncertainty and anger, Tennessee\u2019s abortion ban takes effect\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Texas<\/a>: \u201cTexas passes law banning abortion after six weeks\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wisconsin<\/a>: \u201cWisconsin Republicans approve bill banning abortions after 14 weeks of pregnancy\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

North Dakota<\/a>: \u201cNorth Dakota governor signs law banning nearly all abortions\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump and MAGA Republicans\u2019 extreme anti-abortion agenda is overwhelmingly unpopular with voters.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

USA Today<\/a>: \u201cAmericans overwhelmingly oppose the next goal of many anti-abortion activists, to enact a federal law banning abortion nationwide. By 80%-14%, those surveyed opposed that idea, including 65% of Republicans and 83% of independents.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
