In response to Donald Trump\u2019s support for punishing <\/em>women<\/em><\/a> who have abortions and <\/em>doctors<\/em><\/a> who provide them while once again <\/em>demanding credit<\/em><\/a> for ending Roe v. Wade, <\/em>DNC spokesperson Aida Ross released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDonald Trump says he\u2019s \u2018proudly responsible\u2019 for the reversal of Roe v. Wade<\/em>, but he\u2019s not stopping there \u2013 he thinks \u2018there has to be some form of punishment\u2019 for women who access reproductive care and would allow states to punish doctors who provide abortions. Women across America are hearing Donald Trump\u2019s message loud and clear: He is endorsing every single cruel abortion ban across the states, and would let his MAGA allies threaten women and doctors with jail time if he has his way.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just yesterday, Donald Trump said states should be able to punish doctors for providing abortions.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington Post<\/a>: \u201cTrump says states should determine whether to punish doctors\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington Post<\/a>: \u201cAsked whether doctors who provide abortions should be punished, Trump allowed that certain states could do that.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump has also said women should be punished for having an abortion\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cThere has to be some form of punishment [for women who have an abortion].\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2026 and is responsible for the horrifying reality that women are living in \u2013 including cruel abortion bans with no exceptions for rape or incest such as the one in Arizona.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cArizona Supreme Court rules state must adhere to century-old law banning nearly all abortions\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Business Insider<\/a>: \u201cArizona’s abortion ban from 1864 \u2014 which would jail doctors for years<\/strong> \u2014 reinstated\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cArizona shows that punting to the states will not alleviate Trump\u2019s abortion problem\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump is demanding credit for the reversal of <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong> and the ensuing cruel abortion bans across the country.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cI was proudly the person responsible for the ending of \u2026 <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cMany states will be different. Many [states] will have a different number of weeks, or some will [be] more conservative than others, and that\u2019s what they will be.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cAfter 50 years of failure, with nobody coming even close, I was able to kill <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong> \u2026 Without me there would be no 6 weeks, 10 weeks, 15 weeks, or whatever is finally agreed to.<\/strong> Without me the pro Life movement would have just kept losing. Thank you President TRUMP!!!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cFor 54 years they were trying to get <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong><\/a> terminated, and I did it, and I\u2019m proud to have done it. \u2026 Nobody else was going to get that done but me<\/strong>, and we did it, and we did something that was a miracle.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cI’m the one that got rid of <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>, and everybody said that was an impossible thing to do. I put on three Supreme Court justices. Very few people have had that privilege or honor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cGetting rid of <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong> was an incredible thing<\/strong> for pro-life because it gave pro-life something to negotiate with. Pro-life had absolutely nothing, being stuck in Roe v. Wade<\/em>, to negotiate with. \u2026 And look, everybody that was president wanted to get rid and tried to get rid of Roe v. Wade<\/em> … For fifty years, this has been going on. I was able to do it, and I was very honored to do it.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump campaign radio ad<\/a>: “And Trump nominated conservative judges, leading to Roe v. Wade<\/em> being overturned.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FWIW<\/a>: \u201cThis week, we found more evidence that the Trump campaign has no interest in \u2018moderating\u2019 on the issue of abortion. On Monday, his team began running new Facebook video ads targeting voters in Iowa, referring to Trump as \u2018THE MOST Pro-Life President in history.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s not forget: Trump said he would sign a national abortion ban if elected to a second term.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
