Ahead of the Arizona Republican Party convention this weekend, DNC spokesperson Cameron Niven<\/strong> released the following statement:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTrump\u2019s MAGA minions in Arizona are gathering for a closed-door convention this weekend, but we already know what\u2019s on their agenda: ripping away reproductive freedom and putting the health of women at risk across the state. The only question is if they\u2019ll keep their craven contempt aimed at women in Arizona or if they will once again turn on each other and resort to physical fights this year.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Arizona Republican party is in shambles \u2013 with allegations, physical assault charges, blackmail and bribery, and an office closure because of their lack of donations and their mismanagement of funds.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arizona Mirror<\/a>: \u201cA fellow Republican accused former Arizona Republican Party Chairwoman Kelli Ward of assault during the state party\u2019s January meeting at a Phoenix church<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

KOLD<\/a>: \u201cEx-Republican Party Chair Kelli Ward<\/strong> is now facing assault charges, according to authorities<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arizona Republic<\/a>: \u201c\u2018Lots of liars out there,\u2019 Ward said in a text on Monday. \u2018Sadly inside the party. Not new. Just sad.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The New Republic<\/a>: \u201cJeff DeWit, chair of the state\u2019s Republican Party, accused Lake of blackmailing him<\/strong>, after she released a recording of a private phone conversation between the two, in which he can be heard attempting to bribe the Senate candidate.<\/strong> Lake also allegedly threatened DeWit with a \u2018more damaging\u2019 recording if he refused to step down.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

USA Today<\/a>: \u201c\u2018I’ll tell you what I’m offering you,\u2019 DeWit told her, saying there would be companies that could put her on the payroll. He repeatedly told her not to tell anyone about the conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018I can\u2019t be bought,\u2019 Lake responded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018C’mon,\u2019 DeWit urged her.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arizona Capitol Times<\/a>: \u201cDeWit\u2019s resignation follows a leaked audio recording where he offered Lake employment or a \u2018number\u2019 to step out of politics.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

AZ Mirror<\/a>: \u201cIn particular, there were mounting concerns about the party\u2019s sagging finances, which were so bad that some had begun openly wondering if he was steering the AZGOP into bankruptcy.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AZ Mirror<\/a>: <\/strong>\u201cThings were so bad in August that the party had just $14,000 <\/strong>in the bank account, far less than it needed to cover its bills<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA day after former President Trump thought he’d tamped down the GOP’s exposure on abortion, it popped back up in the key 2024 battleground of Arizona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhy it matters: Trump ushered in the end of Roe vs. Wade<\/strong> and its national protection of abortion rights, and now his party is suffering a massive voter backlash.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Associated Press<\/a>: \u201c\u2018Make no mistake, Arizonans are living in 1864 now because Donald Trump dismantled Roe v. Wade<\/strong>,\u2019 Democratic state Sen. USA Today<\/a>: \u201cThe 2022 Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization <\/strong>that overturned Roe v. Wade is cited <\/strong>22 times<\/strong> in the Arizona Supreme Court’s 4-2 ruling<\/strong>, which upheld <\/strong>a law that predates Arizona’s statehood that requires two to five years in prison for anyone aiding an abortion<\/strong>, except if the procedure is necessary to save the life of the mother.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roll Call<\/a>: \u201c<\/strong>In the 4-2 ruling Tuesday, the Arizona Supreme Court said that the U.S. Supreme Court\u2019s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization makes the 1864 law enforceable,<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe 160-year-old law<\/strong>, which predates Arizona\u2019s existence as a U.S. state and women\u2019s right to vote in the United States, makes abortion a felony punishable by two to five years in prison<\/strong> for anyone who performs an abortion or helps a woman obtain the procedure.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arizona Republic<\/a>: \u201cOn Thursday, the Democratic National Committee will launch a billboard campaign in the Phoenix and Tempe areas alleging that Trump is responsible for Tuesday\u2019s ruling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018Abortion is banned in Arizona thanks to Donald Trump.<\/strong> He won\u2019t stop until it\u2019s banned nationwide,<\/strong>\u2019 five billboards will read, some in English and others in Spanish.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump backed a national ban in his first term and has made clear that if reelected, he\u2019d sign a national abortion ban if it landed on his desk.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
