In response to Donald Trump <\/em>doubling down<\/em><\/a> on states monitoring women\u2019s pregnancies, <\/em>DNC spokesperson Aida Ross released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDonald Trump is doubling down on the most extreme parts of his cruel anti-choice agenda, backing states that want to invade women\u2019s privacy by monitoring their pregnancies after endorsing prosecution for women and doctors who perform abortions. Millions of women are already being denied crucial care under the horrifying abortion bans Trump says are \u2018working very brilliantly,\u2019 all while he demands credit for overturning Roe v. Wade<\/em>. Voters have repeatedly made clear that Trump\u2019s anti-freedom agenda has no place in our country, and are ready to stand up for their basic rights against Trump\u2019s dangerous MAGA extremism at the ballot box.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NEW: Donald Trump once again said he would support states monitoring women\u2019s pregnancies.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interviewer<\/a>: \u201cThere are ads running that say that you would support certain states with bans monitoring a woman\u2019s pregnancy.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump: \u201cWell that would be up to the states, again. They will make a decision as to how they do it.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just last week, Trump endorsed monitoring pregnancies AND said states should be allowed to prosecute women who get an abortion.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump on if he would sign a six-week national abortion ban<\/a>: \u201cI’m looking at all options.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cWe’ll pick something that’s going to be very, very good for pro-life \u2026 I\u2019m going to be in there pushing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hill<\/a>: \u201cThe Trump administration formally backed a House bill Monday that would ban abortions after 20 weeks. <\/strong>\u2026 It would make it a crime to perform or attempt an abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy, with the possibility of a fine, up to five years in prison or both.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump is also standing by his allies as they push to ban medication abortion. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interviewer<\/a>: \u201cDo you think women should be able to get the abortion pill mifepristone? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump: \u201cWell, I have an opinion on that, but I’m not going to explain.<\/strong> I’m not gonna say it yet. But I have pretty strong views on that. And I’ll be releasing it probably over the next week.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interviewer: \u201cWell, this is a big question, Mr. President, because your allies have called for enforcement of the Comstock Act, which prohibits the mailing of drugs used for abortions by mail. The Biden Department of Justice has not enforced it. Would your Department of Justice enforce it?\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump: \u201cI will be making a statement on that over the next 14 days.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump will not stop bragging about his role in overturning <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong> and claiming credit for extreme abortion bans across the country.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We gave it back to the states, and the states are working very brilliantly \u2026 But they\u2019re working, and it\u2019s working the way it\u2019s supposed to.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cFor 54 years they were trying to get <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong> terminated, and I did it, and I\u2019m proud to have done it. \u2026 Nobody else was going to get that done but me<\/strong>, and we did it, and we did something that was a miracle.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Monday, his team began running new Facebook video ads targeting voters in Iowa, referring to Trump as \u2018THE MOST Pro-Life President in history.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
