MAGA Republicans continue to carry water for Trump\u2019s dangerous agenda as Trump drags the GOP deeper and deeper into dysfunction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Take a look at the latest:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Donald Trump and his MAGA allies continue their assault on women\u2019s fundamental freedoms, even as women suffer the potentially lethal consequences of Trump\u2019s extreme abortion bans.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/opinion\/articles\/2024-05-07\/im-a-doctor-who-swore-a-hippocratic-oath-florida-is-forcing-me-to-break-it\">U.S. News &amp; World Report<\/a>: \u201cI\u2019m a Doctor Who Swore a Hippocratic Oath. Florida Is Forcing Me to Break It.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLast week, the strictest ban on abortion in Florida\u2019s history went into effect. It\u2019s now illegal to terminate a pregnancy after six weeks \u2013 before many people even realize they\u2019re pregnant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFloridians now have fewer than 14 days after a missed period to confirm if they have an unintended \u2013 or potentially dangerous \u2013 pregnancy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs a board-certified physician specializing in reproductive health and family planning at Planned Parenthood of South, East and North Florida, I swore a Hippocratic oath to my patients to protect their interests, to do no harm and to give them the best care possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFlorida\u2019s new six-week abortion ban will force me to break that oath. Contrary to what its supporters say, this law endangers lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNot every person has a straightforward pregnancy \u2013 far from it. Draconian restrictions like Florida\u2019s ignore just how quickly things can go from bad to worse in pregnancy-related emergencies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/abortion-incest-rape-louisiana-exception-846480b677fbc6fbe60d18ca13572899\">Associated Press<\/a>: \u201cLouisiana lawmakers reject adding exceptions of rape and incest to abortion ban\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDespite pleas from Democrats and gut-wrenching testimony from doctors and rape survivors, a GOP-controlled legislative committee rejected a bill Tuesday that would have added cases of rape and incest as exceptions to Louisiana\u2019s abortion ban.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe bill attracted dozens of people to testify, including rape survivors who shared their own stories and doctors who argued that their hands are tied by the current law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOB-GYN Dr. Neelima Sukhavasi told lawmakers that since the abortion ban has gone into effect, she and other colleagues have delivered babies who are birthed by teenagers who have been raped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2018One of these teenagers delivered a baby while clutching a Teddy Bear \u2014 and that\u2019s an image that once you see that, you can\u2019t unsee it,\u2019 Sukhavasi said.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.13newsnow.com\/article\/news\/health\/floridas-6-week-abortion-ban-putting-strain-on-virginia-clinics\/291-7fcb7f3c-901a-44d4-8066-820e81b18c25\">WVEC<\/a>: \u201cFlorida&#8217;s 6-week abortion ban putting strain on Virginia clinics\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2018In Virginia, over the last seven to ten days, we have seen about a 10% increase in out-of-state patients. The bulk of which are coming from Florida,\u2019 explained Pickett. \u2018That brings our total out-of-state total to about 30% of our patients.\u2019&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAbbey says her clinics have seen a similar trend. \u2018Really, almost all our patients are from out of state,\u2019 she said.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTo cope with the influx, Pickett says Planned Parenthood has expanded telehealth services for primary care and gender-affirming care to create more space in its clinics. Also, patient navigators help those from outside Virginia with funding and travel arrangements.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2018It\u2019s an incredible strain on all abortion providers in Virginia,\u2019 said Pickett. \u2018It also puts people who live here in an additional predicament because care just might look differently.\u2019\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/michiganadvance.com\/2024\/05\/08\/after-being-denied-health-care-women-detail-emotional-and-psychological-toll-of-abortion-bans\/\">Michigan Advance<\/a>: \u201cAfter being denied health care, women detail \u2018emotional and psychological toll\u2019 of abortion bans\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cJoshua told Nessel about finding out she was pregnant weeks after Louisiana enacted its near total abortion ban. \u2026 But from the start, she was denied reproductive health care, having been told she\u2019d have to wait a month before getting a prenatal appointment at more than two months pregnant.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cShe was having a miscarriage. But instead of being allowed to technically have an abortion in order to safely pass her pregnancy, Joshua said she was sent home.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNessel said that she\u2019s terrified at the prospect of a Trump presidency. She argued that any cryptic claims that he\u2019s not interested in implementing a federal abortion ban go against what voters know: Trump takes gleeful responsibility for the fall of Roe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAnd with states attacking in vitro fertilization (IVF) and questions being raised surrounding surrogacy, the path to parenthood for many people isn\u2019t clear under Republican leadership.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2018It just really opened my eyes that these laws and the way that they\u2019re written really have no limits. And we know that MAGA Republicans will take them as far as possible to control women up and down the United States,\u2019&nbsp; Zurawski told <em>the Advance<\/em>. \u2018To anyone living in any state where they think they\u2019re safe, they think they\u2019re protected. If Donald Trump is reelected, no one is safe.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>MAGA Republicans continue to spiral into chaos and conspiracy thanks to\u00a0Donald Trump.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/politics\/politics-news\/tim-scott-embraces-trump-election-denial-1235015458\/\">Rolling Stone<\/a>: \u201cTim Scott Embraces Trump\u2019s Election Denialism, Won\u2019t Commit to Accept Results\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSen. Tim Scott declined multiple times to commit to accepting the results of the 2024 election, regardless of who wins. Appearing on Meet the Press<em>,<\/em> the South Carolina Republican repeatedly dodged host Kristen Welker\u2019s attempts to pin him down and get him to agree to accept the results of the election \u2014 a basic tenet of democracy. In doing so, Scott may be currying favor with Donald Trump, who is already pushing the false rhetoric that Democrats \u2018cheat\u2019 in elections, and hoping to be Trump\u2019s VP pick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen Welker asked Scott again if he would accept the 2024 results, he replied: \u2018President Trump himself said he expects this election to be fair, he expects it to be honest, and he expects to win. That\u2019s what the presidential candidate should expect, and I expect the exact same thing. And frankly the American people agree with him. This is an issue that is not an issue, so I\u2019m not going to make it an issue.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWelker gave Scott at least six more opportunities to just say he will accept the results of the election regardless of who wins, and he refused each time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/slate.com\/news-and-politics\/2024\/05\/donald-trump-news-republicans-maga-election-michigan.html\">Slate<\/a>: \u201cEven Donald Trump Doesn\u2019t Know What He Created in the MAGA Swamps of Michigan\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis scene was a small expression of the absurd dysfunction that has characterized the operations of the Michigan GOP for nearly a year. It is also a window into the problems of the current Republican Party writ large\u2014one of many intraparty conflicts at the state and local level that are exploding across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe problem, in short, is that the MAGA activists in charge are eating each other alive. States in which old-guard \u2018establishment\u2019 Republicans were run off\u2014seemingly paving the way for unified efforts on behalf of Trump\u2014are instead beset by resignations, lawsuits, and financial crises. Conflicts are ongoing in Nevada, Idaho, Arizona, and Georgia as well as Michigan, and are tearing apart smaller chapters at even more local levels.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Across states, MAGA Republicans buddied up to dangerous extremists and spewed hateful rhetoric to further their out of touch agenda&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/azmirror.com\/briefs\/anthony-kern-can-no-longer-use-broadcast-facilities-after-using-them-to-join-a-pro-hitler-talk-show\/\">AZ Mirror<\/a>: \u201cAnthony Kern Can No Longer Use Broadcast Facilities After Using Them to Join a Pro-Hitler Talk Show\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA Glendale Republican lawmaker is no longer allowed to access legislative broadcast equipment after the Arizona Mirror reported on May 3 that he used the Senate\u2019s broadcast studio to appear on a far-right talk show last week with a host who has declared Adolf Hitler a \u2018hero.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPeters, a conspiracy theorist, has been increasingly showcasing antisemitism on his social media profiles and on his show. In promotional material, Peters has praised the mass book burning conducted by the Nazis in the lead up to World War II.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cKern, who was present amid the violence at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, said that God was \u2018raising up\u2019 people like himself, Peters and Trump.
