As President Biden fights to expand health care access while Trump pushes to terminate the ACA and gut coverage for millions of Americans, <\/em>DNC spokesperson Aida Ross released the following statement:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLet\u2019s be clear: Donald Trump wants to \u2018totally kill<\/a>\u2019 the Affordable Care Act and its protections for 100 million Americans with preexisting conditions, all while gutting access to health care for working families and rolling back President Biden\u2019s cuts to prescription drug costs for seniors. Trump\u2019s anti-health care agenda is toxic to voters and a loser at the ballot box. Americans want nothing to do with Trump\u2019s out-of-touch attacks on our health care, and will choose President Biden\u2019s historic leadership in expanding health care access and driving down costs over Trump\u2019s MAGA extremism in November.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Biden has strengthened the Affordable Care Act while in office \u2013 including by lowering premiums and expanding access to health care for hardworking American families.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cThe president has taken several steps to enhance Obamacare\u2019s appeal, including beefing up federal premium subsidies through 2025 and allowing more families to qualify for assistance.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cSoon after taking office in 2021, Biden moved to bolster Obamacare after years of the Trump administration\u2019s efforts to chip away at the program.<\/strong> In one the most significant moves, the president and congressional Democrats beefed up federal subsidies for Obamacare policies as part of the 2021 American Rescue Plan Act and renewed the more generous assistance as part of last year\u2019s Inflation Reduction Act. The enhanced subsidies \u2013 which enable four out of five people to find a plan for less than $10 a month \u2013 continue through 2025.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCongress, the White House and new players in the market have increased pressure on insulin manufacturers to lower their prices. Eli Lilly and Sanofi announced that they would institute $35 caps shortly after President Joe Biden called on drugmakers to do so in his State of the Union address last year. Medicare enrollees now pay no more than $35 a month for each of their insulin prescriptions, thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, which Democratic lawmakers pushed through Congress in 2022.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
