As Donald Trump returns to the Midwest \u2013 a region that bled jobs under his presidency \u2013 to cozy up to his wealthy friends, <\/em>DNC spokesperson Stephanie Justice <\/em><\/strong>released the following statement:\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOn the campaign trail, Donald Trump vows to revitalize America\u2019s manufacturing industry \u2013 however, working families suffered under his presidency as factory after factory shut down under his watch as he created incentives for companies to ship jobs overseas. The industrial Midwest deserves better than more of Trump\u2019s broken promises. President Biden\u2019s record of bringing tens of thousands of manufacturing jobs back to the region and delivering for our workers is a harsh split screen with Trump\u2019s history of only looking out for himself and his billionaire buddies that he\u2019ll be cozying up to today.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump never delivered on his promises to workers and oversaw the closing of multiple manufacturing plants across the Midwest.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rolling Stone<\/a>: <\/strong>\u201c[Trump] came to Youngstown in 2017 for one of his rallies and promised an economic renaissance in the area, urging Youngstown residents to stick around, the jobs were all coming back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe exact opposite happened. In April 2018, GM cut the second shift. Shortly after the midterm elections, GM delivered the death sentence: The plant would close for good in the spring of 2019.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PBS<\/a>: \u201c\u2018He lied<\/strong>,\u2019 said Trish Amato, who worked at a General Motors plant in the area that stopped production earlier this year. \u2018He told everybody it\u2019s all coming back,\u2019 said Amato. \u2018It\u2019s not. It\u2019s harder and harder to find a job<\/strong>.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
