This share has grown 4 percentage points since 2021 \u2013 the year prior to the 2022 decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization that overturned Roe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSince before Roe was overturned, both parties have seen a modest uptick in the share who say abortion should be legal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAmericans say medication abortion should be legal rather than illegal by a margin of more than two-to-one (54% vs. 20%).\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Trump ally Ben Carson called for a national abortion ban without any exceptions for rape or incest.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/donald-trump\/ben-carson-national-abortion-ban-trump-rcna152106\">NBC News<\/a>: \u201c\u2018What is needed is legislation that guarantees the right to life for all American citizens, including those still in the womb,\u2019 Carson \u2014 a noted pediatric neurosurgeon who was the Trump administration\u2019s secretary of housing and urban development \u2014 writes in \u2018The Perilous Fight,\u2019 which was released Tuesday. \u2018Therefore, we must be boldly vocal about saving our fellow human beings through the legislative process. They are counting on us!\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCarson has long been conservative on the issue of abortion. When he was running for president in 2015, he likened women who terminate pregnancies to \u2018slave owners\u2019 on NBC News\u2019 \u2018Meet the Press.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCarson also said that he was open to considering allowing women to terminate pregnancies to save their lives but that he did not believe in exceptions for rape and incest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>MAGA Mike Johnson desperately dodged a question on the MAGA Republicans\u2019 proposal to defund law enforcement and make communities less safe.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DNCWarRoom\/status\/1790761131302162485\">Reporter<\/a>: \u201cThe Republican Study Committee budget cuts the main federal grant program that local departments use to hire officers. How is that not proposing to defund the police?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Johnson: \u201cI haven&#8217;t looked into the details.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/opinion\/story\/2024-04-30\/opinion-republicans-budget-proposal-tells-you-how-they-really-feel-about-crime-and-cops\">Los Angeles Times<\/a>: \u201cThe Republican Study Committee just released a new budget proposal for 2025 that actually cuts funding meant for local police departments. The proposal would defund the Community Oriented Policing Services program, or COPS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf you dig deeper into the RSC\u2019s budget proposal, you\u2019ll find that Republicans also target the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, passed with GOP votes in 2022, which has, among other things, helped keep guns out of the hands of people with felony convictions, and those with serious mental illness.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hern.house.gov\/uploadedfiles\/final_budget_including_letter_web_version.pdf\">Republican Study Committee FY 2025 Budget Proposal<\/a>: \u201cCOPS was created in the 1990s as a means to support state and local law enforcement agencies with expenses like salaries, court programs, and juvenile justice programs. \u2026 the RSC Budget would support a reduction to this program.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Trump praised puppy-killing Kristi Noem as \u201cloyal\u201d and \u201cgreat\u201d and said he\u2019s \u201ccurious\u201d about her dog.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2024-election\/trump-kristi-noem-really-curious-dog-fundraiser-rcna152444\">NBC News<\/a>: \u201c\u2018I&#8217;m really curious about the dog\u2019: Trump weighs in on Kristi Noem at a private fundraiser\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2018What a week!\u2019 Trump said when he got to Noem, adding, \u2018The dog, the dog!\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2018I\u2019m really curious,\u2019 Trump said, \u2018about the dog.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTrump riffed on Cricket\u2019s story \u2014 a tale that has prompted a fierce public backlash \u2014 before sounding a positive note as he returned to talk about longtime ally Noem and touted her steadfast support for him over the years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2018She\u2019s been there for us for a long time,\u2019 Trump said. \u2018She\u2019s loyal, she\u2019s great.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOne of the sources in the room said Trump was more bemused than critical about the dog controversy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/campaign\/4665229-trump-noem-killing-dog-bad-week\/\">The Hill<\/a>: \u201cFormer President Trump responded to the backlash against South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R)\u2019s anecdote about killing her dog several years ago, saying in a new interview it was a \u2018tough story\u2019 but that \u2018we all have bad weeks.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018I think [Noem\u2019s] terrific. A couple of rough stories, there\u2019s no question about it,\u2019 Trump said to conservative podcast hosts Clay Travis and Buck Sexton in an interview aired Tuesday. \u2018And when explained \u2014 the dog story, people hear that and people from different parts of the country probably feel a bit differently, but that\u2019s a tough story.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2018She had a bad week.
