Ahead of members of the North Carolina Republican Party gathering for their state convention, <\/em>DNC spokesperson Jackie Bush released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTomorrow in North Carolina, MAGA minions will descend on Greensboro, where they will undoubtedly double down on their extreme and unpopular agenda for North Carolinians. Following Donald Trump\u2019s chaotic lead, the state\u2019s GOP has elevated some of the nation\u2019s most extreme and out-of-touch candidates in the country. From Mark Robinson, who spews violent, extreme rhetoric like it\u2019s his job, to Michele Morrow, who has called for the public execution of politicians, the NC GOP continues to put Trump\u2019s MAGA agenda over North Carolinians.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Republicans in North Carolina have struggled financially and their intraparty chaos has alienated North Carolinians.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Newsweek<\/a>: \u201cNorth Carolina GOP Owes $72k in Debt After Burning Through Cash\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WUNC<\/a>: \u201cSo far this election cycle, the state Democratic party has raised $5.26 million for its state and federal campaign accounts. The state Republican Party, meanwhile, has raised over $3.34 million across its accounts.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WUNC<\/a>: \u201cMany of the party\u2019s past donors have decided to spend their money elsewhere. \u2018I know way too many donors that are on the sidelines right now that are not giving to the Republican Party, because they don’t trust its leadership,\u2019 [Lee County Republican Party Chair Jim] Womack said.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDon\u2019t expect the Republican Party to step in just yet to help former President Donald Trump out with his financial woes: They\u2019ve got too many problems of their own.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Arizona, Minnesota, Colorado, North Carolina, Massachusetts and Florida state parties have all reportedly been struggling financially.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump is taking North Carolina voters for granted with virtually no campaign presence on the ground.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Raleigh News & Observer<\/a>: \u201c<\/strong>Harrison will also join the Biden-Harris campaign and the state Democratic Party in opening campaign offices in Rocky Mount and Smithfield, focused on reelecting Democrats up and down the ballot. These are the 11th and 12th offices opened by the Biden campaign in North Carolina, while the Trump campaign, as of last month, remains without, according to WSOC-TV.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WSOC-TV<\/a>: \u201cRight now, President Joe Biden\u2019s opponent, Donald Trump, doesn\u2019t appear to have any campaign offices or ads on NC stations. \u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Axios<\/a>: \u201cBiden campaign opening 10 field offices in North Carolina\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt also comes as the Republican National Committee struggles to boost staffing levels in battleground states, Axios reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLess than eight months before the Nov. 5 election, significant parts of the RNC’s get-out-the-vote operation in states likely to decide the election are playing catch-up after Trump’s team ousted 60 staffers in its recent takeover.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WSOC-TV<\/a>: \u201cThe Biden campaign is going hard in the Tar Heel state, investing millions of dollars, and opening 10 field offices, including one in Uptown, with the goal of flipping the state from red to blue.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charlotte Observer<\/a>: \u201cHarris\u2019 latest visit to Charlotte \u2014 her third since June and second in as many weeks to North Carolina \u2014 marked the opening of 10 campaign field offices across the state. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe RNC\u2019s statement did not directly address questions from an Observer reporter about the campaign\u2019s plans in North Carolina, such as future events, advertising campaigns or field office openings.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Newly elected NC GOP Chair Jason Simmons is a longtime MAGA minion who was handpicked by Trump to replace his fellow North Carolina extremist Michael Whatley and ran on the same <\/strong>election conspiracy platform<\/strong><\/a> as his predecessor.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Simmons<\/a>: \u201cOur ground game and our election integrity efforts will be the national standard.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Carolina Journal<\/a>: <\/strong>\u201cTrump makes endorsement in NCGOP chair race\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPrior to running day-to-day operations at the NCGOP, Simmons served as regional field director for the RNC, and served in the Trump administration prior to that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump-backed candidate for governor, Mark Robinson, a speaker at the NC GOP convention, has a documented record of racist, sexist and dangerous rhetoric that is completely out of touch with North Carolinians. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOn Tuesday, Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson won the GOP primary to become his party\u2019s nominee for North Carolina governor, presumably with the help of female voters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut just four years ago, Robinson<\/strong> invoked a bizarre hypothetical in which he said he\u2019d \u2018absolutely\u2019 like to return to the days when the 19th Amendment didn\u2019t exist \u2015 when women didn\u2019t have the right to vote.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018I absolutely want to go back to the America where women couldn\u2019t vote,\u2019 Robinson said in a newly resurfaced video of his remarks at a March 2020 event hosted by the Republican Women of Pitt County.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington Post<\/a>: \u201cN.C. GOP nominee compared Planned Parenthood, men with saggy pants to KKK\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPlanned Parenthood. Men with saggy pants. People who tore down Confederate flags and monuments. The Rev. Al Sharpton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMark Robinson<\/strong>, the GOP nominee in one of this year\u2019s most competitive governor\u2019s races, has declared them all comparable to or worse than the Ku Klux Klan<\/strong> in social media posts that have drawn little attention. The posts are part of a long record of comments ranging from provocative to bigoted that are getting more scrutiny as the campaign heats up in North Carolina \u2014 and that some Republicans worry will be a liability in a battleground state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRobinson\u2019s references to the KKK, a white-supremacist group that has terrorized Black Americans, underscore the risks Republicans have taken in nominating him<\/strong> \u2014 a longtime factory worker who posted a wide range of insults on Facebook before he became a viral hit on the right with a speech about gun laws in 2018. He was elected lieutenant governor of North Carolina in 2020 and won the gubernatorial primary by landslide this month with former president Donald Trump\u2019s endorsement. At a rally, Trump praised Robinson as \u2018Martin Luther King on steroids<\/strong>.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Michele Morrow, the Republican candidate for North Carolina superintendent, offers another disturbing example of how Trump emboldens dangerous MAGA candidates. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cGOP nominee to run North Carolina public schools called for violence against Democrats, including executing Obama and Biden\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn other comments on social media between 2019 and 2021 reviewed by CNN\u2019s KFile, Morrow made disturbing suggestions about executing prominent Democrats for treason, including Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar, North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Hillary Clinton, Sen. Chuck Schumer and other prominent people such as Anthony Fauci and Bill Gates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018I prefer a Pay Per View of him in front of the firing squad<\/strong>,\u2019 she wrote in a tweet from May 2020, responding to a user sharing a conspiracy theory who suggested sending Obama to prison at Guantanamo Bay. \u2018I do not want to waste another dime on supporting his life. We could make some money back from televising his death.\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn another post in May 2020, she responded to a fake Time Magazine cover that featured art of Obama in an electric chair asking if he should be executed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018Death to ALL traitors!!\u2019 Morrow responded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn yet another comment, Morrow suggested in December 2020 killing Biden<\/strong>, who at that time was president-elect, and has said he would ask Americans to wear a mask for 100 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
