Veronica Escobar (TX-16), Co-Chair of the Biden-Harris Campaign, and Lauren Miller \u2013 a mother who was forced to leave the state of Texas to receive life-saving abortion care and joined other Texas women in suing the state for being denied health care despite serious pregnancy complications \u2013 calling out the Texas Republican Party\u2019s extreme agenda that, if enacted, could lead to dystopian consequences like subjecting women who have abortions to the death penalty.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After overturning <em>Roe<\/em>, opening the door to contraception restrictions, and endorsing states\u2019 prosecution of women, Donald Trump has emboldened Texas Republicans to pursue an extreme anti-freedom agenda that would further criminalize abortion in Texas, as Trump and his MAGA minions in Texas and across the country plot to ban abortion nationwide and punish women for accessing care if Trump returns to the White House in November.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Find highlights from the press call below:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-us.googleusercontent.com\/docsz\/AD_4nXdzYgF4tCUDdgoDKcCbvgUP687UJc-irdEmR_M61VJO0riN0-tVtFezkxgu1HNdvHiQBXGcjvRsYQ1BuJvMVZeHnerQLeMenvD3AXbNuXS94mGLh4sXvmRYZ_d6OWgTvWtlWiXK0jvvLW0a-NsLF_u9qgM?key=6eKHh9iK1ueWaUnpkHV3Xg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s be clear: Texas Republicans did this and it shows their true cruelty. And they could only do it because of one man: Donald Trump,\u201d said <strong>U.S. Rep. Veronica Escobar (TX-16), Co-Chair of the Biden-Harris Campaign.<\/strong> \u201cDonald Trump has repeatedly bragged that he is \u2018proudly\u2019 responsible for overturning <em>Roe<\/em> and ripping away women\u2019s reproductive freedoms. Trump now says that state bans are \u2018working the way they are supposed to.\u2019 When women are suffering, when women can\u2019t make their own decisions, when women\u2019s lives are on the line he claims that this is the way it\u2019s supposed to work.
