MAGA Republicans stooped to new lows this week with their extremism, hypocrisy, chaos, and \u2014 as President Biden would call it \u2014 malarkey. In case you missed it: Trump went off the rails as he met with his MAGA minions in Congress to further discuss their extreme 2025 blueprint in his first visit to Capitol Hill since January 6; Trump called Milwaukee \u2014 the site of the 2024 GOP convention \u2014\u00a0 a \u201chorrible city\u201d; he then said he would work \u201cside by side\u201d with an anti-choice extremist group that wants abortion \u201ceradicated entirely\u201d; some of Trump\u2019s VP contenders voted against protecting access to IVF; VP contender Marco Rubio defended Trump\u2019s horrifying comments that immigrants are \u201cpoisoning the blood\u201d of our nation; Trump told voters he doesn\u2019t care about them, only their votes; Trump and MAGA Republicans doubled-down on slashing the corporate tax rate for big corporations while letting hardworking families suffer; and a bunch of Republicans voted against new investments for their constituents, but took credit for it anyway.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump returned to Capitol Hill for the first time since a mob of his supporters stormed the Capitol and attacked our democracy on January 6, and met with his MAGA minions to conspire<\/strong> on an extreme blueprint for 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NBC News<\/a>: \u201cDNC to tail Trump with mobile billboard of Jan. 6 attack during visit to Capitol Hill\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe billboard will play a loop of an 11-minute video montage from the riot and Trump\u2019s speech before it. The video was released by the House committee that investigated the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDNC spokesperson Alex Floyd said: \u2018Donald Trump is on Capitol Hill for the first time since the American people watched him rally his supporters to storm the Capitol, launching a violent insurrection to overturn our democracy. Trump has only doubled down on his dangerous record since then.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington Post<\/a>: \u201cThursday marked Trump\u2019s first trip back to Capitol Hill since he urged his supporters on Jan. 6, 2021, to head to the joint congressional meeting to try to prevent the certification of Joe Biden\u2019s victory. Since then, Trump and many GOP lawmakers have tried to revise the history of that day and suggested that some of the rioters are political \u2018hostages,\u2019 some of whom he plans to pardon, baselessly labeling them \u2018warriors\u2019 and \u2018victims\u2019 last weekend in Las Vegas.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Axios<\/a>: \u201cThe Democratic National Committee went so far as to deploy a mobile billboard outside Trump’s Business Roundtable meeting calling him \u2018unfit\u2019 for office.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump then called Milwaukee \u2014 the site of the 2024 GOP convention \u2014 a \u201chorrible city.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wisconsin Examiner<\/a>: \u201cIn a closed door meeting with Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives, Donald Trump reportedly called Milwaukee, the location of this summer\u2019s Republican National Convention, a \u2018horrible city.\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTrump\u2019s comments were reported by Punchbowl News\u2019 Jake Sherman. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018Milwaukee, where we are having our convention, is a horrible city,\u2019 Trump is reported to have said on Thursday.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York Times<\/a>: \u201cIn a closed-door meeting with G.O.P. House members, the former president disparaged the city where his party\u2019s convention will be held, according to people in the room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDemocrats, likely eager for an edge in a battleground state, immediately seized on the comments. \u2018Let\u2019s be clear: Milwaukee is not a horrible city \u2014 and Wisconsinites should remember what Donald Trump thinks of them when they vote in November,\u2019 Alex Floyd, a spokesman for the Democratic National Committee, said in a statement.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump vowed to work \u201cside by side\u201d with an anti-choice extremist group that calls abortion \u201cchild sacrifice\u201d and wants abortion to be \u201ceradicated entirely.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFormer president Donald Trump pledged Monday to walk \u2018side by side\u2019 with the Danbury Institute, a coalition of Christian groups that opposes abortion, even in cases of rape or incest, and has called the procedure \u2018child sacrifice.\u2019\u201d

\u201cThe Christian group has also asserted in statements that \u2018abortion is never medically necessary to save the life of a mother\u2019 and that \u2018aborting an innocent child conceived in rape or incest only compounds the injustice and pain caused by the initial crime.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, some of Trump\u2019s MAGA VP contenders voted against protecting access to IVF, in yet another move to rip away reproductive freedoms.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThursday\u2019s vote comes a week after Republicans blocked a similar bill from Democrats that would have guaranteed the right to contraception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRepublicans who voted against include: <\/strong>J.D. Vance, Marco Rubio, Tim Scott, Tom Cotton, Bill Hagerty, Katie Britt, Marsha Blackburn, Joni Ernst, and Mike Lee.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

VP contender Marco Rubio defended Trump\u2019s horrifying comments that immigrants are \u201cpoisoning the blood\u201d of our nation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CBS News<\/a>: \u201cFlorida Sen. Marco Rubio, a possible vice presidential pick for former President Donald Trump, defended Trump’s previous remarks on immigrants \u2018poisoning the blood of our country\u2019 in a Spanish-language interview Wednesday with Telemundo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Democratic Party sharply criticized Rubio for defending Trump’s characterization of immigrants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018Donald Trump’s statement that immigrants are ‘poisoning the blood of our country’ is the kind of dangerous language used by the likes of Hitler and Mussolini \u2014 and Marco Rubio is willing to defend him just for the chance to be Trump’s running mate,\u2019 DNC spokesperson Kenia Guerrero said after Rubio’s interview. \u2018Rubio has lost his last shred of dignity just to compete in a race to the bottom to be on an extreme MAGA ticket this November that is wildly out-of-touch with voters who will decide this election.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump reminded voters exactly how little he cares about the political issues and problems affecting their everyday lives last weekend. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Independent<\/a>: \u201cTrump tells rally-goers not to die in searing Vegas heat: \u2018I don\u2019t care about you, I just want your vote\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump and his MAGA allies are planning to put big business ahead of the American people by making Trump\u2019s expensive \u201cMAGAnomics\u201d tax scam permanent.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York Times<\/a>: \u201cTrump Vows to Lower Prices. Some of His Policies May Raise Them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd several of [Trump\u2019s] policies \u2014 whatever their merits on other grounds \u2014 would instead put new upward pressure on prices, according to interviews with half a dozen economists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMr. Trump says he plans the \u2018largest domestic deportation in American history,\u2019 which would most likely increase the cost of labor. He intends to impose a new tariff on nearly all imported goods, which would probably raise their prices and those of any domestic-made competitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd he not only wants to make permanent the entire deficit-financed tax cut law he and congressional Republicans enacted in 2017, but also to add some kind of new \u2018big tax cut\u2019 for individuals and businesses, which would stimulate an economy already at full employment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs a matter of textbook economics, each of those three signature Trump policy plans would be likely to raise prices. Some could even cause continued, rather than one-time, price increases \u2014 adding to the possibility of inflation.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRepublicans in Congress are preparing to not just extend former president Donald Trump\u2019s 2017 tax cuts if they win control of Washington in November\u2019s elections, but also lower rates even more for corporations, laying the early groundwork for a ferocious debate over taxes and spending next year and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNow GOP lawmakers and some of Trump\u2019s economic advisers are considering more corporate tax breaks \u2014 which could expand the national debt by roughly $1 trillion over the next decade\u2026  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBillions of dollars in infrastructure funding are flowing into cities and towns nationwide, nearly three years after Congress passed a $1.2 trillion bipartisan bill approving the cash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd some vulnerable House Republicans are tacitly taking credit for the local funds, despite opposing that bill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
