This week, <\/em>Fox and Friends is desperately trying to cover for Donald Trump\u2019s out-of-touch, far-right VP contenders who are as toxic to voters as the extreme MAGA agenda they\u2019re all backing. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With Doug Burgum set to appear on Fox and Friends this morning, <\/em>DNC Rapid Response Director Alex Floyd released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDoug Burgum won\u2019t stop pushing Donald Trump\u2019s dangerous election denialism, siding with his billionaire special interest backers, or standing by his extreme anti-choice agenda, including the draconian near-total abortion ban he signed into law in North Dakota \u2014 and voters deserve to know why. While Burgum desperately tries to out-MAGA Trump\u2019s other lackeys for a spot on a convicted felon\u2019s ticket, the American people are making it clear every day that Trump\u2019s extreme, out-of-touch MAGA agenda is a political loser.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are a few questions Doug Burgum should answer tomorrow \u2013 but that he won\u2019t be asked:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. When will you stop pushing Trump\u2019s baseless election denialism and lies that threaten our democracy?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Kirsten Welker, NBC<\/a>: \u201cCan you commit here and now today to accepting the election results?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Burgum: \u201cThese hypothetical questions that keep coming up\u2026 I\u2019m not going to comment on an election before it happens.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Welker: \u201cYou won\u2019t commit to accepting the election results?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Burgum: \u201cI will commit if they\u2019re free and fair.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Welker<\/a>: \u201cShould [Trump] unequivocally accept the election results?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Burgum: \u201cI heard him on Thursday night say he would accept the results of the election if it was free and fair and secure. \u2026 We had a smooth transition [after the 2020 election].\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Welker: \u201cJanuary 6 was not exactly a smooth transition.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Burgum: \u201cWe have to say that there was a smooth transition.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Welker<\/a>: \u201cTrump made more than 30 false claims during that debate. \u2026 Do you think he should stop saying things that are not true?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Burgum: \u201cEverything Trump said on Thursday he has said before, so this is not news.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Savannah Guthrie, NBC<\/a>: \u201cOne of the last things [voters] remember, of course, is January 6, the president losing the election, but claiming he didn\u2019t, people rioting at the Capitol, here he was again tonight asked point blank, \u2018If you lose the election, will you concede?\u2019 And he just doesn\u2019t answer the question directly. He\u2019s always hedging it with if it\u2019s free and fair. And of course, the implication is it\u2019s not free and fair, if he\u2019s not the winner, why don\u2019t you just come right out and say, of course, I\u2019ll accept the results of this election?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Burgum: \u201cWell, I think you heard him say that at the end, it would be easier for him if everybody thought we had secure elections. But we know in our country, being a democracy, this is a challenge.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Guthrie: \u201cThat\u2019s just a red herring, because I mean, he got to litigate it. He had the advantages of our democracy, and our courts and every other institution, which found that it was a free and fair election, and yet, he\u2019s still on about that. And he won\u2019t say that he\u2019ll accept the results of this election. I just don\u2019t get that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    [\u2026]<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Burgum: \u201cWhen you\u2019ve got unmonitored documents that don\u2019t have any control over the path of that document, you don\u2019t know where it came from, you don\u2019t know where it\u2019s been, that would never pass any kind of audit from, you know, a quarterly audit from a public company. So I think we all want the same thing in America whether it\u2019s the 2000 election, which was challenged to do down in one county in Florida, the \u201816 election, which people claimed there\u2019s Russian interference, the 2020 election, I mean, three of our last five elections, either the different parties had been saying there was concerns.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. You signed a near-total abortion ban with nearly no exceptions after celebrating Trump\u2019s handpicked judges overturning <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>. Why do you support ripping away access to abortion for survivors of rape and incest before most women even know they\u2019re pregnant?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      CBS News<\/a>: \u201cBurgum signed into law one of the strictest anti-abortion laws in the country, <\/strong>an abortion ban that allows limited exceptions up to six weeks’ gestation, and only for medical emergencies at any other point in the pregnancy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Welker<\/a>: \u201cYou said America was an unsafe place for women before Roe v. Wade<\/em>. So by your own standard, Governor, is America unsafe for women as a result of <\/strong>Roe <\/em><\/strong>being overturned?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Burgum: \u201cNo, it\u2019s not.<\/strong> \u2026 I\u2019ve evolved on that position.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The Hill<\/a>: \u201cAs governor of North Dakota, Burgum signed one of the strictest abortion bills in the nation last year, banning abortions in the state after six weeks of pregnancy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Burgum<\/a>: \u201cToday\u2019s landmark Supreme Court decision returns power to the states where it belongs\u2026Our administration has consistently supported pro-life legislation and this decision is a victory for the many North Dakotans who have fought so hard and for so long to protect the unborn in our state.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      New York Times<\/a>: \u201cNorth Dakota became the latest state on Monday to enact a near-total ban on abortion, just one month after the State Supreme Court temporarily blocked a similar ban from taking effect. Under the new law, an abortion in the case of rape or incest would be permissible only in the first six weeks of pregnancy, a time when most women have not yet realized they are pregnant.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      ABC News<\/a>: \u201cNorth Dakota court keeps strict abortion ban in place even in cases of medical emergencies\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      1. When will you finally put the American people first \u2014 instead of your ultra-wealthy special interest backers, who are already favor trading for campaign cash with Trump?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        Burgum<\/a>: \u201cOur state has built a strong and growing economy on reducing individual and corporate income tax rates, common-sense regulations and a business-friendly environment, and this federal tax reform legislation \u2013 combined with the Trump administration\u2019s tremendous progress in rolling back burdensome regulations \u2013 will spread those principles nationwide.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Burgum<\/a>: \u201cHis policies are all in the right direction. If you\u2019re a billionaire\u2026 you should be voting for [Trump].\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        CNBC<\/a>: \u201cTrump VP prospect Doug Burgum and GOP megadonor Harold Hamm are allies in business and politics\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Doug Burgum<\/a>: \u201cI believe in these economic policies, I believe the tax bill is a great thing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Washington Post:<\/a> \u201cTrump makes sweeping promises to donors on audacious fundraising tour\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \u201cAs he closed his pitch at the Pierre Hotel, Trump explained to the group why it was in their interest to cut large checks. If he was not put back in office, taxes would go up for them under President Biden, who vows to let Trump-era tax cuts on the wealthy and corporations expire at the end of 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \u201cSeconds after promising the tax cuts, Trump made his pitch explicit. \u2018So whatever you guys can do, I appreciate it,\u2019 he said.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        The Guardian<\/a>: \u201cDonald Trump\u2019s $1.5tn tax cuts have helped billionaires pay a lower rate than the working class for the first time in history.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Bismarck Tribune:<\/a> \u201cGov. Doug Burgum accepted more than $100,000 in campaign contributions from oil company executives last fall, despite comments he made as a candidate that accepting donations from the oil industry would be a<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        conflict of interest.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        1. Why do you want to repeal the Affordable Care Act, gut protections for people with preexisting conditions, and rollback legislation to lower prescription drug costs?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          HealthInsurance.org<\/a>: \u201cIn late 2017, Burgum and 19 other Republican governors wrote a letter to Congress, urging lawmakers to repeal the ACA.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
