In response, <\/em><strong><em>DNC Senior Spokesperson Marcus W. Robinson released the following statement:&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOn this anniversary of the signing of the landmark Civil Rights Act, the best that Donald Trump\u2019s VP contenders can do is make excuses for Trump\u2019s racist rhetoric while lying about President Biden and Vice President Harris\u2019 record. Trump\u2019s MAGA Veepstakes contenders have defended Jim Crow, backed a tax giveaway for the rich at the expense of working- and middle-class Black families, and stood behind Trump while he talks about \u2018Black jobs\u2019 and repeats the same racist vitriol. While Trump and his MAGA lackeys insult Black Americans after failing our community every year while he was in office, the Biden-Harris administration has put the fight for equality front and center since day one, standing up for voting rights, fighting for greater economic opportunity, and working to fulfill the promise of equality for all Black Americans.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Donald Trump\u2019s VP contenders stood by him after his racist, insulting reference to \u201cBlack jobs\u201d and \u201cHispanic jobs.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/6993862\/trumps-debate-black-jobs-hispanic-jobs-anger\/\">TIME<\/a>: \u201cTrump\u2019s Debate References to \u2018Black Jobs\u2019 and \u2018Hispanic Jobs\u2019 Stir Anger\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDonald Trump warned during his debate with Joe Biden and again at a Friday rally that migrants were taking \u2018Black jobs\u2019 and \u2018Hispanic jobs\u2019 from Americans, angering critics who called it <strong>a racist and insulting attempt to expand his appeal beyond his white conservative base.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[&#8230;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAsked to clarify what Trump meant in describing a \u2018Black job\u2019 during an interview with NBC News, Republican <strong>Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, who is Black and is under consideration to be Trump\u2019s vice presidential nominee, sidestepped the question<\/strong>, instead discussing homeless veterans.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/elections\/2024\/06\/29\/ben-carson-black-jobs\/74255185007\/\">USA Today<\/a>: \u201cCarson told CNN Friday that the former president was referring to \u2018people at the lower end of the economic scale, and that those frequently unskilled jobs are taken by people who come in here illegally, making them unavailable for our people.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[&#8230;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cCarson also dismissed concerns that Trump\u2019s remarks came off as offensive. <\/strong>\u2018What we really have to do is start not picking apart what people say but actually asking what is the meaning of what they\u2019re saying,\u2019 he said.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Byron Donalds and Wesley Hunt are trying and failing to convince Black voters to vote for Trump\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2024-election\/trumps-black-gop-allies-challenged-tense-discussion-rcna159246\">NBC News<\/a>:<strong> \u201cTrump\u2019s Black GOP allies challenged during tense discussion tailored to Black men\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSeveral repeatedly challenged Donalds and Hunt over their legislative track record, their stances on immigration and reparations, and their unwavering support for Trump. The dialogue at times got contentious, with <strong>several audience members accusing them at various times of repeating generic Republican talking points or deflecting issues of concern.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[&#8230;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDonalds was also called out for a controversial remark he made during the Philadelphia stop of the \u2018Congress, cognac and cigars\u2019 tour, when he asserted the Black family was stronger during Jim Crow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2018You can talk about Black family, talk about the Black father, but when you intertwine Jim Crow into that, you\u2019re going to drive people away,\u2019 Richard Wright said Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[&#8230;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe response did little to quell the palpable frustration among some attendees. Mike M., who declined to give his last name, is a graduate of Emory University and does not affiliate with a specific party. Byron Donalds defends comments about Jim Crow\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/politics\/election\/trump-black-voters-philadelphia-20240604.html\">Philadelphia Inquirer<\/a>: \u201cAt another point, Donalds said he is starting to see the \u2018reinvigoration of Black family,\u2019 which he described as younger people forming nuclear family units and \u2018helping to breathe the revival of a Black middle class in America.\u2019 He went on to say that those family values had previously been eroded by Democratic policies that Black voters embraced after becoming loyal to the party due to the Civil Rights Movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201c\u2018You see, during Jim Crow, the Black family was together. During Jim Crow, more Black people were not just conservative \u2014 Black people have always been conservative-minded \u2014 but more Black people voted conservatively,\u2019<\/strong> he said. \u2018And then H.E.W., Lyndon Johnson \u2014 you go down that road, and now we are where we are,\u2019 he added, referring to the former U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Trump\u2019s VP contenders have praised his MAGAnomics tax scam and supported Trump\u2019s push to make it permanent\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DNCWarRoom\/status\/1650554193470697473?s=20\"><strong>Tim Scott<\/strong><\/a>: \u201cWe make the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act tax cuts permanent.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.valleynewslive.com\/content\/misc\/Governor-Doug-Burgum-on-Vice-President-Pence-478179103.html\"><strong>Doug Burgum<\/strong><\/a>: \u201cI believe in these economic policies, I believe the tax bill is a great thing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/2018\/05\/corporate-tax-cuts-must-help-working-families-marco-rubio\/\"><strong>Marco Rubio<\/strong><\/a>: \u201cOverall, the Republican tax-cut bill has been good for Americans. That is why I voted for it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TomCottonAR\/status\/1794006605295419566\"><strong>Tom Cotton<\/strong><\/a>: \u201cTrump&#8217;s tax cuts helped deliver the strongest economy in recent history.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2017\/12\/20\/ben-carson-leads-prayer-for-tax-cuts-at-trump-cabinet-meeting.html\">CNBC<\/a>: \u201c<strong>Ben Carson<\/strong> leads prayer for tax cuts at Trump Cabinet meeting\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kotatv.com\/content\/news\/Noem-comes-to-Rapid-City-to-discuss-the-tax-bill--467939743.html\">KOTA<\/a>: \u201cRepublicans are calling President Trump\u2019s tax plan the biggest tax overhaul in history. \u2026 Representative <strong>Kris[ti] Noem<\/strong> was a big part in pushing this bill.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/video\/6351751490112\">Fox Business<\/a>: \u201cTrump\u2019s tax policies have worked out for all of America: Rep. <strong>Byron Donalds<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DNCWarRoom\/status\/1684928904539283456\"><strong>Vivek Ramaswamy<\/strong><\/a> on a suggestion to make permanent or expand the Trump tax cuts: \u201cI\u2019d go a little further, Larry, than that, to be honest with you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alreporter.com\/2022\/04\/05\/katie-britt-releases-memo-on-reducing-the-size-scope-and-reach-of-government\/\">Alabama Political Reporter<\/a>: \u201c<strong>Katie Britt<\/strong> on Monday released a memo with her policy positions \u2026 [including] a bill to make permanent the individual tax cuts and extend the expanded standard deduction contained in President Trump\u2019s 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. \u2026 a pro-growth tax reform bill reducing business tax rates, repealing the Death Tax, and making the expensing of capital assets permanent. \u2026 a bill to repeal the state and local tax deduction.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20191228210233\/https:\/wesleyfortexas.com\/wesley-on-the-issues\/\"><strong>Wesley Hunt<\/strong><\/a>: \u201cI supported the 2017 Tax Reform bill.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u2026 even though Trump\u2019s tax giveaways for the ultra-wealthy, attempts to repeal the Affordable Care Act, and pushes to gut affordable housing programs disproportionately left behind and threatened working- and middle-class Black communities.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2018\/10\/11\/business\/trump-tax-cuts-white-americans.html\">New York Times<\/a>: \u201cWhite Americans Gain the Most From Trump\u2019s Tax Cuts, a Report Finds\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cAs a result, the average tax cut going to a white American household is more than double one going to a black or Latino one.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhite Americans earn about 77 percent of total income in the United States, but they are getting nearly 80 percent of the benefits of the individual and business tax cuts generated by the new law, the analysis found.<strong> African Americans received about 5 percent of the benefits, despite earning 6 percent of the nation\u2019s income.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kff.org\/uninsured\/state-indicator\/nonelderly-uninsured-rate-by-raceethnicity\/?dataView=1&amp;currentTimeframe=3&amp;sortModel=%7B%22colId%22:%22Location%22,%22sort%22:%22asc%22%7D\">KFF<\/a>: <strong>The number of uninsured Black Americans increased by nearly 300,000 during the first two years of Trump\u2019s administration, which marked the first increase in the Black uninsured rate since 2013.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/12\/16\/us\/politics\/child-tax-credit.html\">New York Times<\/a>: \u201cThe Tax Break for Children, Except the Ones Who Need It Most\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhile Republicans say the increase shows concern for ordinary families, 35 percent of children fail to receive the full $2,000 because their parents earn too little, researchers at Columbia University found. A quarter get a partial sum and 10 percent get nothing. <strong>Among those excluded from the full credit are half of Latinos, 53 percent of [B]lacks and 70 percent of children with single mothers [\u2026]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBy enriching the credit and including the affluent, the Trump expansion itself has brought attention to the poor children it excludes. <strong>While the 2017 law made millions of upper-income families eligible for the $2,000 credit (in part to offset the loss of other tax benefits), it gave a boost of just $75 to most full-time workers at the minimum wage.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/finance\/housing\/484132-housing-advocates-decry-trump-budget-cuts\">The Hill<\/a>: \u201cOverall, Trump\u2019s budget would cut $8.6 billion from housing programs, a 15 percent reduction.
