In response to Donald Trump\u2019s desperate attempt to <\/em>hide<\/em><\/a> his deep ties with Project 2025, <\/em>DNC Spokesperson Aida Ross released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDonald Trump and Project 2025 are one big MAGA operation, coordinating on an extreme blueprint to rip away freedoms and undermine democracy \u2014 and they\u2019ve made it clear themselves. Many of Trump\u2019s closest former White House aides are leading the project and his campaign’s own press secretary starred in one of their recruitment videos. On the heels of a Supreme Court decision helping pave the way for Trump to lead as a dictator on \u2018day one\u2019 and his ally openly calling for a violent revolution to destroy democracy, the stakes couldn\u2019t be higher. Trump can\u2019t hide his ties to the dangerous, unhinged MAGA loyalists at Project 2025, and the American people will stop them at the ballot box in November.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Donald Trump and his campaign are working hand in hand with Project 2025 \u2014 but don\u2019t just take it from us. Project 2025 and Trump have made their ties clear:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Politico<\/a>: \u201cOn Tuesday, the Trump campaign sent a letter to pro-Trump, external organizations asking them to attend an \u2018entirely off-the-record, private,\u2019 and \u201cinvite-only\u201d meeting with senior campaign officials, according to a copy of the letter obtained by POLITICO. The sit-down, which the letter describes as a \u2018meeting of the political minds,\u2019 is aimed at discussing \u2018collaborat[ion]\u2019 and \u2018priorities and plans\u2019 for the general election<\/strong>. […]<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBy holding the meeting, the Trump operation and the third-party entities could conceivably get on the same page about their plans. Two people familiar with the planning for the event said Heritage Action and Turning Point Action were among the pro-Trump groups invited<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Axios<\/a>: \u201cThis is undeniably a Trump-driven operation.<\/strong> The biggest tell: Johnny McEntee \u2014 one of Trump’s closest White House aides, and his most fervent internal loyalty enforcer \u2014 is a senior adviser to Project 2025. One of the most powerful architects is Stephen Miller, a top West Wing adviser for the Trump administration.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Politico<\/a>: \u201cMany of the authors of the blueprint are former Trump officials, and the Heritage Foundation has spent the past year-plus recruiting people to implement the plans within the administration<\/strong>, Scott said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018So they don\u2019t just have a long, sprawling policy document,\u2019 he said, \u2018they also have a growing list of staff who are being tested to see if they are loyal to Trump and if they are willing to administer this in his potential administration.\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhile groups like Heritage have put forward conservative policy proposals in the past, Scott said Project 2025 is distinct in that it\u2019s so comprehensive and far-reaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018It has so many groups contributing to it. It\u2019s the whole conservative policy movement gathered together,\u2019<\/strong> he said.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ABC News<\/a>: \u201cRoberts\u2019 remarks shed light on how a group that promises to have significant influence over a possible second term for former President Donald Trump is thinking about this moment in American politics. The Heritage Foundation is spearheading Project 2025, a sweeping road map for a new GOP administration that includes plans for dismantling aspects of the federal government and ousting thousands of civil servants in favor of Trump loyalists who will carry out a hard-right agenda without complaint.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York Times<\/a>: \u201cThe two driving forces of this effort to reshape the executive branch are Mr. Trump\u2019s own campaign policy shop and a well-funded network of conservative groups, many of which are populated by former senior Trump administration officials who would most likely play key roles in any second term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMr. Vought and Mr. McEntee are involved in Project 2025, a $22 million presidential transition operation that is preparing policies, personnel lists and transition plans to recommend to any Republican who may win the 2024 election. The transition project, the scale of which is unprecedented in conservative politics, is led by the Heritage Foundation, a think tank that has shaped the personnel and policies of Republican administrations since the Reagan presidency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat work at Heritage dovetails with plans on the Trump campaign website to expand presidential power that were drafted primarily by two of Mr. Trump\u2019s advisers, Vincent Haley and Ross Worthington, with input from other advisers, including Stephen Miller, the architect of the former president\u2019s hard-line immigration agenda.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vox<\/a>: \u201cMany of the authors of Mandate are members of the first Trump administration who would likely have roles in a second.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRoger Severino, the author of the HHS chapter, was the director of the HHS Office for Civil Rights under Trump, a role in which he oversaw the removal of nondiscrimination protections for LGBTQ Americans in health care settings. Gene Hamilton, the author of the Justice Department chapter, served in Trump\u2019s DOJ and Department of Homeland Security and worked on the \u2018zero tolerance\u2019 immigration policy that separated children from their parents at the border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018These are all people that, in theory, Trump listens to,\u2019<\/strong> Ziegler told Vox.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Week<\/a>: \u201cFormer Trump staffers involved with Project 2025 include former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and Trump’s former senior adviser Stephen Miller<\/strong>, the latter of whom has been described as a white nationalist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHowever, as New York Magazine said, many of Trump’s indicated plans for a second term fall in line with the Project 2025 outline. <\/strong>This includes giving the president unchecked power over federal agencies and the total ability to bypass Congress. He has also pledged to appoint a special prosecutor to go after the Biden family and other political opponents, as well as the installation of loyalists throughout the government.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Republic<\/a>: \u201cJohnny McEntee, who is helping lead the Heritage Foundation\u2019s Project 2025<\/strong>\u2014an especially ambitious initiative that has already published a 920-page \u2018manual\u2019 for Trump\u2019s second term\u2014had come to be known as \u2018deputy president\u2019 by late 2020.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
