\u201cDonald Trump wants to create a national nightmare where every single woman in America lives under a draconian abortion ban \u2013 and his MAGA minions are already working on a plan to help him make that a reality on day one. MAGA Republicans in Congress are plotting to use their budget as a Trojan horse to further undermine access to life-saving abortion care, even as women are being turned away from emergency rooms thanks to abortion bans Trump made possible. With Trump and the MAGA GOP showing us in real time just how far they\u2019ll go to rip away our basic rights, the stakes for reproductive freedoms are higher than ever this November.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NEW: Donald Trump\u2019s MAGA minions in Congress are already scheming to use their budget to push anti-abortion policies akin to Trump\u2019s extreme, anti-choice Project 2025 agenda.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rolling Stone<\/a>: \u201cRepublican lawmakers are trying to use an unrelated budget bill to allow states to bar patients from having emergency abortions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs they allocate next year\u2019s funding to federal agencies, hard-right legislators on the House Appropriations Committee are taking cues from the right-wing Heritage Foundation, the think tank behind Project 2025<\/a>, as well as the conservative Christian legal advocacy group Alliance Defending Freedom, whose lawyers helped draft the anti-abortion law the Supreme Court used to overturn Roe v. \u201cIt\u2019s not just EMTALA that is coming under fire in the House GOP\u2019s new budget: A separate provision, also proposed by the subcommittee for Labor, Health and Human Services and Education, would block funding for any hospital that trains doctors to perform or assist with abortions if the hospital \u2018provides or requires such training for any participant in such program without the participant first voluntarily electing to opt in to undergo such training,\u2019 or if the hospital \u201csubjects any participant in such program to discrimination\u201d if they decline to opt in. \u201cIn addition to cutting funding for the Office on Women\u2019s Health, this year\u2019s Republican budget would fully eliminate the Title X Family Planning Program, the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program, and Healthy Start, the federal program meant to address infant mortality.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of their proposals would rely on enforcing the Comstock Act, a long-dormant law from 1873, to criminalize the shipping of any materials used in an abortion \u2014 including abortion pills, which account for the majority of abortions in America [\u2026]<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPolicies under consideration include banning the use of fetal stem cells in medical research for diseases like cancer, rescinding approval of abortion pills at the F.D.A. and stopping hundreds of millions in federal funding for Planned Parenthood.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
