As Donald Trump\u2019s allies double down on Trump\u2019s failed foreign policy vision at the RNC convention today, <\/em>DNC Rapid Response Director Alex Floyd released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDonald Trump spent four years weakening our national security, and he\u2019s still hellbent on praising dictators, threatening to abandon our allies, and undermining American leadership on the world stage. No amount of spin from MAGA loyalists taking the RNC stage today changes the fact that Trump put our security and our allies last and allowed dictators to gain influence at the expense of Americans\u2019 safety. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s no surprise that so many military leaders \u2014 including Trump\u2019s own former chief of staff \u2014 have spoken out against his reckless record as commander in chief. Now, Trump has chosen a far-right MAGA running mate in JD Vance who shares his dangerous views, railing against NATO, pushing to abandon Ukraine, and threatening to undercut our national security. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs Trump doubles down on his foreign policy failures with Vance on the ticket, it\u2019s clear that neither he nor Vance can be trusted to lead on the world stage.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Donald Trump \u2014 who has repeatedly praised Putin \u2014 said he would have let Russia \u201ctake over\u201d parts of Ukraine and threatened to let them \u201cdo whatever the hell they want\u201d to our NATO allies.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cTrump says he would encourage Russia to \u2018do whatever the hell they want\u2019 to any NATO country that doesn\u2019t pay enough\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington Post<\/a>: \u201cFormer president Donald Trump has privately said he could end Russia\u2019s war in Ukraine by pressuring Ukraine to give up some territory\u2026 <\/strong>Some foreign policy experts said Trump\u2019s idea would reward Russian President Vladimir Putin and condone the violation of internationally recognized borders by force\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTrump has consistently complimented Putin, expressed admiration for his dictatorial rule and gone out of his way to avoid criticizing him, most recently for the death in jail of political opponent Alexei Navalny.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ABC News<\/a>: \u201cTrump spent his latest rally in New Hampshire praising multiple authoritarian leaders and quoting Russian President Vladimir Putin to try and discredit the criminal indictments against him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Numerous military leaders and former Trump advisers \u2013 including those closest to him while he made reckless foreign policy decisions \u2013 have slammed him as a grave threat to our national security. Trump\u2019s former chief of staff and retired Marine general John Kelly said Trump called veterans \u201csuckers\u201d and \u201closers\u201d and has \u201cno idea what America stands for,\u201d and retired four-star Army General Barry McCaffrey slammed Trump\u2019s failure to protect American interests from Russia.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Axios<\/a>: \u201cFormer President Trump didn\u2019t want to visit a cemetery near Paris for Americans who fought and died in World War I because it was filled with \u2018suckers\u2019 and \u2018losers,\u2019 <\/strong>John Kelly, his longest-serving chief of staff, said in a statement to CNN on Monday.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Atlantic<\/a>: \u201cTrump said, \u2018Why should I go to that cemetery? It\u2019s filled with losers.\u2019 In a separate conversation on the same trip, Trump referred to the more than 1,800 marines who lost their lives at Belleau Wood as \u2018suckers\u2019 for getting killed.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
