As JD Vance continues to push his anti-choice extremism that includes <\/em>comparing abortion to slavery<\/em><\/a>, <\/em>DNC Spokesperson Aida Ross released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJD Vance is an anti-choice MAGA extremist who wants to help Donald Trump make abortion \u2018illegal nationally\u2019 because he thinks abortion is \u2018comparable\u2019 to slavery. Vance \u2014 who has criticized exceptions for rape and incest and voted to block legislation to codify abortion access protections \u2014 is fully on board with the Project 2025 agenda to further rip away reproductive freedoms as women suffer under draconian abortion bans Trump made possible. The Trump-Vance ticket is running on a cruel, dangerous, and wildly unpopular anti-choice agenda that the American people will reject this November.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cJD Vance said in 2022 he \u2018would like abortion to be illegal nationally\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJD Vance said he \u2018certainly would like abortion to be illegal nationally\u2019 and was \u2018sympathetic\u2019 to the view that a national ban was necessary to stop women from traveling across states to obtain an abortion.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance, the Ohio GOP senator, says Republicans need to shift their approach on abortion and begin to embrace federal legislation \u2026 \u2018We can\u2019t give into the idea that the federal Congress has no role in this matter,\u2019 he told us.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daily Beast<\/a>: \u201cJ.D. Vance suggested he would support prohibiting abortion even in cases of rape and incest\u2014and dismissed those catalysts as \u2018inconvenient.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Associated Press<\/a>: \u201cVance said that he would vote for the national abortion ban at 15 weeks introduced by Republican U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham \u2026 He did not explicitly say he supports a rape exception \u2026 He said the issue is too complex for him to name all the exceptions he might support on a debate stage.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance<\/a>: \u201cOhio has a heartbeat bill [banning abortion before many women know they\u2019re pregnant], I think that\u2019s a good bill.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance<\/a>: \u201cI think that what I really think on \u2013 so first of all, the <\/strong>Dobbs<\/em><\/strong> decision, everybody knows, overruled <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 I think that was the right decision.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hill<\/a>: \u201cVance has a strong anti-abortion record and was given an A+ ranking by Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, a prominent anti-abortion group. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe campaigned against Ohio\u2019s 2023 ballot measure that guaranteed the right to abortion, and previously said he\u2019d vote for a nationwide abortion ban at 15 weeks.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDuring his campaign for Senate, Vance applauded the overturning of Roe v. Wade and supported Texas\u2019s ban on abortion, which does not allow exceptions other than cases where the mother\u2019s life is at risk. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018Two wrongs don\u2019t make a right,\u2019 he said in 2021 when asked whether abortion laws should allow for exceptions for rape and incest.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

ProPublica<\/a>: \u201c[Vance] argued that conservatives needed to take action against corporations that, say, defended abortion rights or punished employees who spoke out against abortion access.<\/strong> \u2018If we\u2019re unwilling to make companies that are taking the side of the left in the culture wars feel real economic pain, then we\u2019re not serious about winning the culture war,\u2019 he said.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018It\u2019s idiotic for us to take the bait,\u2019<\/strong> Senator JD Vance told Politico, as though the measure were some kind of political trap. (He also noted that he had not actually read the bill yet.)\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance and Project 2025 both want to ban abortion nationwide with or without Congress \u2013 Vance has deep ties to the extremists that produced the MAGA blueprint and has praised it as including \u201cgood ideas.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington Post<\/a>: \u201cVance urged DOJ to enforce Comstock Act, crack down on abortion pills\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The New Republic<\/a>: \u201cOn January 20, 2025, conservatives plan to resurrect a 150-year-old defunct law to ban abortion across the nation.<\/strong> This is not a secret plan\u2014far from it. It\u2019s part of the 180-Day Playbook produced by Project 2025, detailing priorities for an incoming conservative president on day one. These 900 pages lay out a Christian nationalist vision of the United States, one in which married heterosexuality is the only valid form of sexual expression and identity; all pregnancies would be carried to term, even if that requires coercion or death; and transgender and gender-nonconforming people do not exist\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe playbook says the president should enforce a 150-year-old law, the Comstock Act, which right-wing groups see as a way to ban abortion nationally because it outlaws the use of the mail for the purposes of sending or receiving any object that could be used for an abortion.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gram Slattery, Reuters<\/a>: \u201cVance is very close to Heritage and even wrote the forward for a book from the think tank\u2019s president. Project 2025 is of course organized by Heritage.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vox<\/a>: \u201cKevin Roberts, the president of the right-wing Heritage Foundation and the driving force behind Project 2025, told Ward that \u2018[Vance] is absolutely going to be one of the leaders \u2014 if not the leader \u2014 of our movement.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance<\/a>: \u201cI want to thank especially Kevin Roberts and all the Heritage Foundation for 50 years of incredible work on conservative policy.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance<\/a>: \u201cI think that what Trump should do, like if I was giving him one piece of advice, is fire every single civil servant\u2026 replace them with our people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to ripping away reproductive freedoms, Vance is in lockstep with Trump.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
