The complaint accuses West\u2019s campaign of accepting illegal in-kind contributions from Republican operatives to aid their efforts to gain ballot access in North Carolina and Arizona. This follows reporting from the <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/kennedy-west-third-party-2024-election-10c4c166ad4d41cab73660c33a69a58a\"><em>Associated Press<\/em><\/a><em> exposing how Republican operatives have been propping up the ballot access efforts of West and RFK Jr.\u2019s campaigns.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The DNC\u2019s full letter to the FEC can be read <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/democrats.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/DNC-FEC-Complaint-Against-West-et-al.docx.pdf\"><em>here<\/em><\/a><em>.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ICYMI: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/elections\/2024\/07\/24\/biden-speech-2024-election-campaign-updates\/#link-GS7MBTRMQNBHHIVYGIBDAP62HQ\"><strong>Washington Post<\/strong><\/a><strong>: DNC files FEC complaint against Cornel West<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By: Meryl Kornfield<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Democratic National Committee filed a Federal Election Commission complaint last week against independent presidential candidate Cornel West and several other groups, claiming that they helped contribute to ballot access efforts in Arizona and Georgia.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>DNC accused the groups of having partisan Republican ties, with the significant implication that Republicans are helping West get on the ballot in key battleground states<\/strong> to give Democratic-leaning voters an alternative to President Biden.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00a0The DNC claims the groups \u2014 People Over Party, which offered to collect signatures for West in North Carolina, and the political firms Wells Marketing and Blitz Canvassing\u2014 <strong>provided the work but were not paid as is typical of political groups, indicating these are in-kind donations.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\u201cIn these two battleground states, Cornel West\u2019s campaign has received in-kind contributions well in excess of the limits from Republican leaning entities in violation of federal law,\u201d the complaint reads. \u201cIt is indisputable that the West campaign has accepted the benefits of these services.\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Paul Hamrick, an attorney representing People Over Party, said the group is apolitical in a letter to the state elections board.
