\u201cInstead of taking responsibility for his behavior and apologizing to the millions of Americans without children who JD Vance has callously insulted and ridiculed, he is instead doubling down on his view that they are \u2018psychotic\u2019 and should be discounted in our democracy. Vance\u2019s induction on Donald Trump\u2019s ticket continues to be an utter catastrophe \u2013 no wonder he is the most unpopular VP nominee in decades. Even Trump knows he\u2019s an absolute weirdo who isn\u2019t ready<\/a> for primetime.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance has a history of insulting childless adults as \u201csociopathic,\u201d \u201cderanged,\u201d and \u201cpsychotic.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cRepublican vice presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance has a history of making disparaging remarks toward people without children, a CNN KFile review of his comments shows, including fundraising off his now-infamous \u2018childless cat lady\u2019 remarks in a series of emails that called Democratic leaders \u2018childless sociopath\u2019 who \u2018don\u2019t have a direct stake in this country.\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn November 2020, Vance said on a conservative podcast that childless Americans, especially those in the country\u2019s \u2018leadership class,\u2019 were \u2018more sociopathic\u2019 than those with children and made the country \u2018less mentally stable.\u2019 <\/strong>Vance added that the \u2018most deranged\u2019 and \u2018most psychotic\u2019 <\/strong>commentators on Twitter \u2013 now known as X – were typically childless.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance has repeatedly attacked and disparaged Americans who don\u2019t have children, and wants to undermine their role in our democracy.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pat Rynard, Courier Newsroom<\/a>: \u201cJD Vance says Americans without children should \u2018face the consequences<\/strong> and the reality\u2019 and not get \u2018nearly the same voice\u2019 in democracy\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Federalist<\/a>: \u201cJ.D. Vance, a U.S. Senate candidate from Ohio, called out the \u2018childless left\u2019 whom he said have \u2018no physical commitment to the future of this country\u2019 in a fiery speech given to the Intercollegiate Studies Institute\u2019s conference on the Future of American Political Economy\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018Why is this just a normal fact of\u2026  life, for the leaders of our country to be people who don\u2019t have a personal and direct stake in it via their own offspring?\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018The Democrats are talking about giving the vote to 16-year-olds,\u2019 Vance noted. \u2018Let\u2019s do this instead. Let\u2019s give votes to all children in this country, but let\u2019s give control over those votes to the parents of the children<\/strong>.\u2019 He continued, asking, \u2018Doesn\u2019t this mean that nonparents don\u2019t have as much of a voice as parents? Doesn\u2019t this mean that parents get a bigger say in how democracy functions?\u2019 He answered with a simple \u2018yes\u2019 after saying \u2018the Atlantic and the Washington Post and all the usual suspects\u2019 would criticize him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ABC News<\/a>: \u201c[Vance] suggested that the country needed to \u2018reward the things that we think are good\u2019 and \u2018punish the things that we think are bad<\/strong>\u2019 — before suggesting that individuals without children should be taxed at a higher rate than those with children.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance also has an anti-choice record that includes saying he\u2019d like \u201cabortion to be illegal nationally,\u201d celebrating when Trump overturned <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>, and attacking exceptions for rape and incest.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cJD Vance said in 2022 he \u2018would like abortion to be illegal nationally\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJD Vance said he \u2018certainly would like abortion to be illegal nationally\u2019 and was \u2018sympathetic\u2019 to the view that a national ban was necessary to stop women from traveling across states to obtain an abortion.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daily Beast<\/a>: \u201cJ.D. Vance suggested he would support prohibiting abortion even in cases of rape and incest\u2014and dismissed those catalysts as \u2018inconvenient.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance<\/a>: \u201cI think that what I really think on \u2013 so first of all, the <\/strong>Dobbs<\/em><\/strong> decision, everybody knows, overruled <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 I think that was the right decision.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance suggested women should stay in violent marriages.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance<\/a>: \u201cThis is one of the great tricks that I think the sexual revolution pulled on the American populace, which is the idea that like, \u2018well, OK, these marriages were fundamentally, you know, they were maybe even violent, but certainly they were unhappy. And so getting rid of them and making it easier for people to shift spouses like they change their underwear, that\u2019s going to make people happier in the long term.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance<\/a>: \u201cIt turns out that normal Americans care more about their families than their jobs, and want a family policy that doesn\u2019t shunt their kids into crap daycare so they can enjoy more \u2018freedom\u2019 in the paid labor force.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump refused to say if JD Vance is ready to lead on day one.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a CNN survey taken after the Republican National Convention, Vance has an approval rating of -6 points, making him the first vice presidential nominee to enter the general election with a negative rating since 1980.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Newsweek<\/a>: \u201cNearly four in 10 people do not believe Donald Trump\u2019s running mate, JD Vance, is ready for the presidency if necessary, according to a new survey.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe poll also found that one-third (33 percent) were not sure if Vance was ready for the presidency or not. This is a possible sign that the Hillbilly Elegy author, who has been a senator for less than two years, still needs to raise his national political profile since being named as the Republican vice presidential nominee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
