In response to new <\/em>reporting<\/em><\/a> on JD Vance railing against abortion access, <\/em>DNC Spokesperson Aida Ross released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJD Vance has shown us exactly who he is over and over again: An anti-choice extremist who will stop at nothing to ban abortion nationwide with Donald Trump. It\u2019s disgusting that Vance \u2014 who wants abortion to be \u2018illegal nationally\u2019 and attacked exceptions for rape and incest by saying \u2018two wrongs don\u2019t make a right\u2019 \u2014 is dismissing reproductive health care as a ploy for \u2018cheap labor.\u2019 The more Trump and Vance attack our basic freedoms, the more the American people see them for the dangerous anti-choice MAGA extremists they truly are.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ON THE RECORD: JD Vance said companies supporting abortion rights really just want a pool of \u201ccheap labor.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christian Science Monitor<\/a>: \u201cIn the same 2021 speech, Mr. Vance argued that companies supporting abortion rights really just want a pool of \u2018cheap labor,\u2019 with workers unburdened by the cost and time commitment of caring for children\u2026 he said: \u2026 \u2018When the big corporations come against you for passing abortion restrictions, when corporations are so desperate for cheap labor that they don\u2019t want people to parent children, she\u2019s right to say that abortion restrictions are bad for business.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

REMINDER: Vance has previously encouraged attacks on corporations that defend abortion access.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

ProPublica<\/a>: \u201cHe argued that conservatives needed to take action against corporations that, say, defended abortion rights or punished employees who spoke out against abortion access.<\/strong> \u2018If we\u2019re unwilling to make companies that are taking the side of the left in the culture wars feel real economic pain, then we\u2019re not serious about winning the culture war,\u2019 he said.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance\u2019s anti-choice record includes saying he wants abortion to be \u201cillegal nationally,\u201d attacking exceptions for rape and incest, comparing abortion to slavery, and more.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cJD Vance said in 2022 he \u2018would like abortion to be illegal nationally\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJD Vance said he \u2018certainly would like abortion to be illegal nationally\u2019 and was \u2018sympathetic\u2019 to the view that a national ban was necessary to stop women from traveling across states to obtain an abortion.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daily Beast<\/a>: \u201cJ.D. Vance suggested he would support prohibiting abortion even in cases of rape and incest\u2014and dismissed those catalysts as \u2018inconvenient.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vice<\/a>: \u201cJD Vance Compared Abortion to Slavery\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hill<\/a>: \u201cVance has a strong anti-abortion record and was given an A+ ranking by Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, a prominent anti-abortion group. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe campaigned against Ohio\u2019s 2023 ballot measure that guaranteed the right to abortion, and previously said he\u2019d vote for a nationwide abortion ban at 15 weeks.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDuring his campaign for Senate, Vance applauded the overturning of Roe v. Wade and supported Texas\u2019s ban on abortion, which does not allow exceptions other than cases where the mother\u2019s life is at risk. <\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018Two wrongs don\u2019t make a right,\u2019 he said in 2021 when asked whether abortion laws should allow for exceptions for rape and incest.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NBC News<\/a>: \u201cSenate Republicans block Democratic bill codifying Roe v. Wade abortion protections\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSenate Republicans on Wednesday blocked legislation led by Democrats to revive the protections of Roe v. Wade in the wake of the Supreme Court eliminating the nationwide right to abortion.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Republicans who voted against include: JD Vance.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance also celebrated when Donald Trump overturned <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong> and paved the way for extreme abortion bans across the country (which Trump says are \u201cworking very brilliantly\u201d).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

JD Vance<\/a>: \u201cI think that what I really think on \u2013 so first of all, the <\/strong>Dobbs<\/em><\/strong> decision, everybody knows, overruled <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 I think that was the right decision.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cI was proudly the person responsible for the ending of \u2026 <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cWe broke Roe v. Wade and we did something that nobody thought was possible. We gave it back to the states, and the states are working very brilliantly \u2026 But they\u2019re working, and it\u2019s working the way it\u2019s supposed to.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If given the chance, Trump and Vance will enact their Project 2025 agenda, which includes a national abortion ban.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance<\/a>: \u201cI\u2019ve reviewed a lot of [Project 2025]. There are some good ideas in there.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Axios<\/a>: \u201c[Project 2025] is undeniably a Trump-driven operation.<\/strong> The biggest tell: Johnny McEntee \u2014 one of Trump’s closest White House aides, and his most fervent internal loyalty enforcer \u2014 is a senior adviser to Project 2025. One of the most powerful architects is Stephen Miller, a top West Wing adviser for the Trump administration.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
