1. Why do you want to pursue Trump\u2019s Project 2025 plan to ban medication abortion and rip away women\u2019s freedoms nationwide?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington Post<\/a>: \u201cVance urged DOJ to enforce Comstock Act, crack down on abortion pills.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cJD Vance said in 2022 he \u2018would like abortion to be illegal nationally.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Manu Raju, CNN<\/a>: \u201cJ.D. Vance, the Ohio GOP senator, says Republicans need to shift their approach on abortion and begin to embrace federal legislation \u2026 \u2018We can\u2019t give into the idea that the federal Congress has no role in this matter,\u2019 he told us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Why did you vote to block legislation to codify IVF access and praise attacks on the life-changing treatment?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hill<\/a>: \u201cSenate Republicans block legislation to codify IVF access\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Republicans who voted against include: JD Vance.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vanity Fair<\/a>: \u201cOn Wednesday, Senate Republicans are expected to object to Tammy Duckworth\u2019s Right to Build Families Act, because, surprise: They don\u2019t actually care about families and aren\u2019t \u2018pro-life.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018It\u2019s idiotic for us to take the bait,\u2019<\/strong> Senator JD Vance told Politico, as though the measure were some kind of political trap. (He also noted that he had not actually read the bill yet.)\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York Times<\/a>: \u201cYears before he became the Republican vice-presidential nominee, JD Vance endorsed a little-noticed 2017 report by the Heritage Foundation that proposed a sweeping conservative agenda to restrict sexual and reproductive freedoms and remake American families.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn a series of 29 separate essays, conservative commentators, policy experts, community leaders and Christian clergy members opposed the spread of in vitro fertilization and other fertility treatments,<\/strong> describing those treatments as harmful to women.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Why do you continue to whitewash January 6, and do you support Trump\u2019s promise to pardon violent insurrectionists? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Politico<\/a>: \u201c[Vance] downplayed the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol<\/strong>, when Pence was forced to evacuate the building as rioters called for his hanging.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hill<\/a>: \u201cJD Vance says he is \u2018skeptical\u2019 Pence\u2019s life was in danger on Jan. 6\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cThose people were treated very harshly\u2026 nobody was killed on January 6. But I think that the people on January 6 were treated very unfairly<\/strong>\u2026 they were there to complain about an election, and you know it\u2019s very interesting, the biggest crowd I\u2019ve ever spoken to.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Will you commit to accepting the results of November\u2019s election?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

HuffPost<\/a>: \u201c[Vance] said he would accept a Biden win only if he considered the election to be legitimate. \u2026 Vance\u2019s comments illustrate a new tactic by Republican lawmakers, who are now placing conditions on accepting election results.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance<\/a>: \u201cI think the entire post-2020 thing would have gone a lot better if there had actually been an effort to provide alternative slates of electors<\/strong>, and to force us to have that debate. I think it would\u2019ve been a much better thing for the country. \u2026 [Trump] was trying to take a constitutional process to its natural conclusion.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York Times<\/a>: \u201c[Vance] has said that, unlike Vice President Mike Pence in 2020, he would have helped Mr. Trump overturn the results<\/strong>, by accepting Trump electors that had not been elected by voters.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Exactly which of the extreme plans in Project 2025 do you think are \u201cgood ideas?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance<\/a>: \u201cI\u2019ve reviewed a lot of [Project 2025]. There are some good ideas in there.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gram Slattery, Reuters<\/a>: \u201cVance is very close to Heritage and even wrote the forward for a book from the think tank\u2019s president. Project 2025 is of course organized by Heritage.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Do you still stand by your insulting attacks on Americans without children, including suggesting they should not get \u201cnearly the same voice\u201d in democracy?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cRepublican vice presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance has a history of making disparaging remarks toward people without children, a CNN KFile review of his comments shows, including fundraising off his now-infamous \u2018childless cat lady\u2019 remarks in a series of emails that called Democratic leaders \u2018childless sociopath\u2019 who \u2018don\u2019t have a direct stake in this country.\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn November 2020, Vance said on a conservative podcast that childless Americans, especially those in the country\u2019s \u2018leadership class,\u2019 were \u2018more sociopathic\u2019 than those with children and made the country \u2018less mentally stable.\u2019 <\/strong>Vance added that the \u2018most deranged\u2019 and \u2018most psychotic\u2019 <\/strong>commentators on Twitter \u2013 now known as X – were typically childless.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. Why did you suggest women should stay in violent marriages?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. Why do you stand against working Americans and want to help Trump rig the economy for the ultra-wealthy at the expense of the middle class?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance<\/a>: \u201cThe left attacked Donald Trump for those tax cuts said they would make the deficit worse<\/strong> when in reality we took in more revenue because the government got out of the way on the regulatory side and the tax cuts spurred a lot of growth which means more people working, which meant more economic production which meant the entire economy was healthier\u2026 I think we have a pretty common sense regulatory and tax agenda.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York Times<\/a>: \u201cThe 2017 corporate tax cuts signed into law by Mr. Trump have not increased government revenue\u2026 In fact, they have had the opposite effect.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cPrivately, Trump\u2019s campaign acknowledges this isn\u2019t the entrance it envisioned for Vance<\/strong>\u2026 the resurfaced clips have so far generated distractions and have forced Trump himself to defend Vance.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
