In response to Donald Trump\u2019s <\/em>latest grift <\/em><\/a>\u2013 a picture book trying to whitewash January 6 and threatening to jail his opponents \u2013 <\/em>DNC Rapid Response Director Alex Floyd released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhile Donald Trump is whining about his January 6 crowd sizes and threatening to jail his opponents, Vice President Harris and Governor Walz have been talking about the issues that actually matter to the American people. Trump is a grifter who puts himself first at every turn, attacks our democracy, and disrespects the law enforcement officers who protect our nation\u2019s capital. Voters will show him they\u2019re sick of listening to his endless lies and petty grievances at the ballot box this November.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NEW: Trump\u2019s latest scam is a picture book that includes him bragging about how many of his supporters violently attacked the Capitol on January 6.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York Times<\/a>: \u201cTrump\u2019s Latest Photo Book Offers Gossip, Boasting and a Threat\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMr. Trump does allude to the day his supporters stormed the Capitol \u2014 but only to make a point about the size of crowds he can command.<\/strong> \u2018THIS IS THE REAL JANUARY 6TH,\u2019 he writes, referring to the rally he held before the riot. \u2018They never captured the size of the Crowd.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump also lobs threats in the picture book as he continues to seek power to go after his opponents \u2014 as he is vowing to be a dictator on \u201cday one,\u201d won\u2019t stop echoing dictators, and has warned of a \u201cbloodbath\u201d if he loses in November.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York Times<\/a>: \u201cThe book includes at least one menacing threat.<\/strong> Mark Zuckerberg, the head of Meta, is shown sitting across the Resolute Desk from Mr. Trump, a tall glass of soda in front of him. \u2018He told me that there was nobody like Trump on Facebook,\u2019 the former president writes. \u2018But at the same time, and for whatever reason, steered it against me. We are watching him closely, and if he does anything illegal this time he will spend the rest of his life in prison.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rachel Scott, ABC News<\/a>: \u201c140 police officers were assaulted [on January 6].<\/strong> Their injuries included broken bones, at least one officer lost an eye, one had two cracked ribs, two smashed spinal discs, another had a stroke. Were the people who assaulted those 140 officers, including those I just mentioned, \u2018patriots\u2019 who deserve pardons?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scott: \u201cBut sir, my question is on those rioters who assaulted officers. Would you pardon those people?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Donald Trump: \u201cOh absolutely I would. <\/strong>If they\u2019re innocent, I would pardon them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scott: \u201cThey\u2019ve been convicted.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cThose people were treated very harshly\u2026 nobody was killed on January 6. But I think that the people of January 6 were treated very unfairly<\/strong>\u2026 they were there to complain about an election, and you know it\u2019s very interesting, the biggest crowd I\u2019ve ever spoken to.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

TIME<\/a>: \u201cTrump has sought to recast the insurrectionist riot as an act of patriotism. \u2018I call them the J-6 patriots,\u2019<\/strong> Trump tells TIME. When asked whether he would consider pardoning every one of them, he says: \u2018Yes, absolutely.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cJanuary 6, it was the largest crowd I\u2019ve ever spoken to. And they were there proud, they were there with love in their heart. That was an unbelievable \u2014 and it was a beautiful day.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2026while his running mate JD Vance downplays the violence on January 6.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hill<\/a>: \u201cJD Vance says he is \u2018skeptical\u2019 Pence\u2019s life was in danger on Jan. 6\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Politico<\/a>: \u201c[Vance] downplayed the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol<\/strong>, when Pence was forced to evacuate the building as rioters called for his hanging.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump is still pushing lies about his loss by over 7 million votes in the 2020 election. Vance is right there with him \u2013 they are both casting doubt on this November\u2019s results.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York Times<\/a>: \u201c[Trump] <\/strong>has baselessly and publicly cast doubt about the fairness of the 2024 election about once a day, on average, since he announced his candidacy for president.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Associated Press<\/a>: \u201c[Trump] is flooding the airwaves and his social media platform with distortions, misinformation and unfounded conspiracy theories about his defeat.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NBC News<\/a>: \u201cRe-litigating the 2020 election, repeating false claims it was stolen and casting aspersions on the security of mail voting remain major fixtures for [Trump] on the stump.<\/strong> \u2026 He regularly refers to the 2020 election as \u2018rigged\u2019 on his social media channels.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
