If Republicans scrap Medicare drug price negotiations from this historic law, which is already lowering costs for seniors, over<a href=\"https:\/\/www.americanprogress.org\/article\/project-2025-prescription-drug-plan-would-increase-costs-for-as-many-as-18-5-million-seniors-and-others-with-medicare\/\"> 18 million<\/a> Americans are expected to see price hikes and it will cost Medicare Part D enrollees a total of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.americanprogress.org\/article\/project-2025-prescription-drug-plan-would-increase-costs-for-as-many-as-18-5-million-seniors-and-others-with-medicare\/\">$7.4 billion<\/a> \u2014 an average cost increase of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.americanprogress.org\/article\/project-2025-prescription-drug-plan-would-increase-costs-for-as-many-as-18-5-million-seniors-and-others-with-medicare\/\">$399<\/a> per enrollee.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2024\/09\/17\/trump-drug-prices-gop-concerns\"><strong>Axios<\/strong><\/a><strong>: Hill GOP sets sights on scrapping drug price talks<\/strong><br>By Peter Sullivan<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Key Point: \u201c<\/em><\/strong><em>Multiple high-ranking Republicans told Axios they want to repeal the Inflation Reduction Act&#8217;s Medicare drug price negotiations next year if they prevail in the elections. [&#8230;] \u201cBy the numbers: The Congressional Budget Office found that the negotiation provisions would save about $100 billion over 10 years.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The big picture: <\/strong>The tension surfaced this week when <strong>multiple high-ranking Republicans told Axios they want to repeal the Inflation Reduction Act\u2019s Medicare drug price negotiations next year if they prevail in the elections.<\/strong><br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>[Trump] could still be open to repealing the IRA drug price measures, <\/strong>and his campaign isn&#8217;t elaborating.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>What they\u2019re saying: \u201cI would try to remove that <\/strong>and replace it, but I can&#8217;t tell you the exact, you know, what it would be yet,\u201d Sen. Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), who&#8217;s in line to be the next chair of the Senate Finance Committee if Republicans flip the chamber, told Axios when asked about the drug price talks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Sen.
