In response to JD Vance <\/em>fundraising<\/em><\/a> with anti-choice extremists in Florida, including Wilton Simpson, who helped pass Florida\u2019s draconian abortion ban and attacked exceptions for rape or incest, <\/em>DNC Spokesperson Aida Ross released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJD Vance has no shame \u2014 women\u2019s lives are on the line because of the abortion bans Donald Trump made possible, but he continues to cozy up to anti-choice extremists for campaign cash. Not only is he fundraising again<\/em> with Wilton Simpson, who helped pass an extreme abortion ban in Florida, but Vance is also schmoozing with MAGA Republicans who have celebrated the overturning of Roe v. Wade<\/em> and are trying to ban abortion nationwide. Today\u2019s fundraiser makes it clear: a vote for the Trump-Vance ticket is a vote for anti-choice extremists pushing a dangerous Project 2025 agenda to rip away our basic rights.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JD Vance\u2019s fundraiser today was full of anti-choice extremists, including Wilton Simpson, who helped pass an extreme abortion ban in Florida made possible by Donald Trump\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tallahassee Democrat<\/a>: \u201cFlorida lawmakers on Thursday voted to approve a 15-week abortion ban<\/strong> that shortens by more than two months the current window available to legally terminate a pregnancy\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018I think it’s a great day,\u2019 Senate President Wilton Simpson said about lawmakers approving Florida’s most restrictive abortion regulations<\/strong> (HB 5) since the U.S. Supreme Court Roe v. Wade decision established abortion as a constitutional right in 1973\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRepublican lawmakers in both the House and Senate defeated amendments that would have made exceptions for rape, incest, human trafficking and mental health. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018After 15 weeks, that is a child. And so the argument is, should you kill a baby after 15 weeks because it was (conceived) under certain circumstances?\u2019 Simpson said.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cI was proudly the person responsible for the ending of \u2026 <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/a>: \u201cFor 54 years they were trying to get <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong> terminated, and I did it, and I\u2019m proud to have done it. \u2026 Nobody else was going to get that done but me<\/strong>, and we did it, and we did something that was a miracle.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kat Cammack<\/a>: \u201cAs we all know abortion is not health care.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aaron Bean<\/a>: \u201cAt the United States Supreme Court on one of the most historic days, where many prayers have been answered with the overturning of Roe v. Wade.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Michael Waltz<\/a>: \u201cThe 1973 Roe v. Wade decision was based on outdated science and a flawed constitutional interpretation.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Life at Conception Act<\/a>: \u201cThis bill declares that the right to life guaranteed by the Constitution is vested in each human being at all stages of life, including the moment of fertilization<\/strong>, cloning, or other moment at which an individual comes into being.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington Post<\/a>: \u201cThe [LCA] has no provisions for processes like IVF, meaning access to the procedure would not be protected. It would ban nearly all abortions nationwide.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

TRUMP DID THIS: Reporting shows that abortion bans across the country \u2014 which Trump said are \u201cworking very brilliantly\u201d \u2014 are delaying emergency medical care and leading to \u201cpreventable\u201d deaths.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NBC News<\/a>: \u201cA dramatic rise in pregnant women dying in Texas after abortion ban\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

ProPublica<\/a>: \u201cAbortion Bans Have Delayed Emergency Medical Care. In Georgia, Experts Say This Mother\u2019s Death Was Preventable.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut ProPublica obtained reports that confirm that at least two women have already died after they couldn\u2019t access legal abortions and timely medical care in their state\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThurman\u2019s case marks the first time an abortion-related death, officially deemed \u2018preventable,\u2019 is coming to public light. ProPublica will share the story of the second in the coming days\u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut since abortion was banned or restricted in 22 states over the past two years, women in serious danger have been turned away from emergency rooms and told that they needed to be in more peril before doctors could help. <\/strong>Some have been forced to continue high-risk pregnancies that threatened their lives. Those whose pregnancies weren\u2019t even viable have been told they could return when they were \u2018crashing.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance\u2019s anti-choice record includes wanting abortion to be \u201cillegal nationally,\u201d criticizing exceptions for rape and incest, comparing abortion to slavery, and more.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hill<\/a>: \u201cDuring his campaign for Senate, Vance applauded the overturning of Roe v. Wade and supported Texas\u2019s ban on abortion, which does not allow exceptions other than cases where the mother\u2019s life is at risk.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018Two wrongs don\u2019t make a right,\u2019 he said in 2021 when asked whether abortion laws should allow for exceptions for rape and incest.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

JD Vance<\/a>: \u201cI think that what I really think on \u2013 so first of all, the <\/strong>Dobbs<\/em><\/strong> decision, everybody knows, overruled <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 I think that was the right decision.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NBC News<\/a>: \u201cSenate Republicans block Democratic bill codifying Roe v. Wade abortion protections\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSenate Republicans on Wednesday blocked legislation led by Democrats to revive the protections of Roe v. Wade in the wake of the Supreme Court eliminating the nationwide right to abortion.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Republicans who voted against include: JD Vance.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Letter Signed by Vance and Other Members of Congress<\/a>: \u201cAbortion is not health care\u2014it is a brutal act that destroys the life of an unborn child and hurts women. Congress did not authorize HHS to extend special provisions for abortion such as these under the guise of \u2018health care.\u2019 The Proposed Rule unlawfully thwarts the enforcement of compassionate laws protecting unborn children and their mothers, and directs health care providers to defy lawful court orders and search warrants.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Trump-Vance ticket is in lockstep, pushing an extreme anti-choice Project 2025 agenda as their allies plot to ban abortion nationwide and rip away reproductive care.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance<\/a>: \u201cI\u2019ve reviewed a lot of [Project 2025]. There are some good ideas in there.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sean Hannity, Fox News<\/a>: \u201cSo you completely agree, are in full, complete agreement with President Trump?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JD Vance: \u201cMy view is that Donald Trump is the leader of the Republican Party and his views on abortion are going to be the views that dominate this party and drive this party forward.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
