\u201cAfter planting himself firmly in an echo chamber of anti-choice extremism, election conspiracies, and hateful rhetoric, JD Vance is now campaigning with Lance Wallnau \u2013 a conspiracy theorist whose record includes accusing women of \u2018witchcraft,\u2019 calling abortion \u2018apocalyptic,\u2019 and being at the Capitol on January 6. This shameless pandering to the far-right is exactly what the American people have come to expect from Vance, and it\u2019s why he\u2019s the least popular VP nominee in modern American history whose disastrous reputation will be yet another drag on the Trump-Vance ticket this November.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TODAY: JD Vance is campaigning today with far-right conspiracy theorist Lance Wallnau, an anti-choice extremist who called abortion \u201capocalyptic,\u201d accuses women of \u201cwitchcraft,\u201d and celebrated Trump\u2019s overturning of <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rolling Stone<\/a>: \u201cBoth Wallnau and Vance have described the right to abortion care in apocalyptic terms. \u2026 In December, Wallnau expressed frustration with the fact that the overturning of Roe v. Wade had allowed some states to enshrine reproductive rights into state law.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wallnau<\/a>: \u201cIt\u2019s a great day in Texas \u2026 because <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong> has been overturned.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2010<\/a>: Wallnau claimed that \u201cabortion activity\u201d was \u201can apocalyptic confirmation<\/strong> that when you remove god from public discourse, when you don\u2019t line up your thinking with kingdom principles, you inevitably hit an iceberg like the titanic and you go down.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wallnau is an extreme election denier who was at the Capitol on January 6 and has since tried to whitewash the insurrection with unhinged conspiracy theories. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NBC News<\/a>: \u201cAfter denying Trump\u2019s 2020 election defeat and telling followers that God had a plan to keep him in office, Wallnau joined pro-Trump protestors in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 6, 2021.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington Post<\/a>: \u201cIn December [of 2020], Wallnau said on a prayer call that God would \u2018overturn\u2019 the election because Trump\u2019s \u2018assignment\u2019 from God has not yet been completed.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Republic<\/a>: \u201cA prominent voice within a Christian nationalist movement that has been elevating Trump, who has met with the former president, and who mobilized his supporters to \u2018stop the steal\u2019 on January 6<\/strong>\u2014Lance Wallnau.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rolling Stone<\/a>: \u201cOther evangelical leaders sought to deny reality, blaming the violence of that day on antifa or Black Lives Matter protesters who they falsely claimed had posed as Trump supporters. \u2026 Lance Wallnau, a popular evangelical author, speaker and Trump loyalist who attended the January 6th protest, echoed that same theme.<\/strong> \u2018This is not your typical evangelical, I\u2019m telling you right now,\u2019 he told Metaxas on his radio program the day after the insurrection, \u2018and they\u2019re banging on the hoods of the police and they\u2019re creating a scene, I said, \u2018This is the local antifa mob and this is like from the playbook 101.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rolling Stone<\/a>: \u201cLance Wallnau, a self-styled \u2018prophet\u2019 and one of America\u2019s most strident Christian Nationalists, and Doug Mastriano, the GOP candidate who casts his bid for governor of Pennsylvania as a mission from God, are birds of a feather.  They each fired up the faithful at the Jericho March \/ \u2018Let the Church ROAR!\u2019 event in Washington, D.C., in December 2020, a Christian protest seeking divine intervention to keep Donald Trump in office. And both men were on the ground in Washington a few weeks later on Jan. 6 \u2014 each billed as speakers at Stop the Steal\u2019s \u2018Wild Protest\u2019 event in the shadow of the Capitol.<\/strong> (The speeches were preempted by the insurrection that overran the Halls of Congress.)\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wallnau<\/a>: \u201cJan. 6 was not an insurrection<\/strong>\u2026 It was an election fraud intervention.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDuring a podcast interview in January 2022, then-candidate JD Vance said he \u2018certainly would like abortion to be illegal nationally\u2019 and was \u2018sympathetic\u2019 to the view that a national ban was necessary to stop women from traveling across states to obtain an abortion.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance<\/a>: \u201cI am 100 percent pro-life<\/strong>, and believe that abortion has turned our society into a place where we see children as an inconvenience to be thrown away rather than a blessing to be nurtured. Vance has said he would not have certified the 2020 election, continues to whitewash the violent January 6 insurrection, and won\u2019t commit to accepting this November\u2019s election results.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance<\/a>: \u201c\u2018I believe that marriage is between one man and one woman.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hill<\/a>: \u201cVance last year introduced a bill that would make providing gender-affirming care to minors a felony with a 10 to 25-year prison sentence.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe bill mirrors state bans on the procedures, but also would block taxpayer funding for it, including banning coverage of gender-affirming care from ObamaCare plans.<\/strong> It banned universities from providing instruction on \u2018gender-affirming care.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
