Trump\u2019s surrogates today include far-right MAGA allies who, like Trump, have pushed reckless lies about the response to Hurricane Helene and railed against our reproductive freedoms, even calling abortion \u2018the greatest evil in our country.\u2019 Voters are sick of the lies and extremism, and they are ready to reject Trump\u2019s dangerous rhetoric and out-of-touch Project 2025 blueprint at the ballot box in just 15 days.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TODAY: Donald Trump is <\/strong>campaigning<\/strong><\/a> in North Carolina with a MAGA ally who has pushed dangerous hurricane conspiracy theories.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Media Matters<\/a>: \u201cClay Clark is \u2018a dear friend\u2019 of Eric Trump who said during an October 3 interview: \u2018Weather manipulation is real, and the town or the area that was most devastated by the flood happens to be in a town that sits on America’s largest lithium deposits.\u201d\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

TRUMP\u2019S PROJECT 2025 AGENDA: Gut the NOAA, restrict FEMA\u2019s ability to deliver aid after disasters, and <\/strong>eliminate<\/strong><\/a> disaster loans for families and small businesses to rebuild after storms \u2014 after inserting politics into natural disasters as president.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

E&E News<\/a>: \u201c[A] review of Trump\u2019s record by POLITICO\u2019s E&E News and interviews with two former Trump White House officials show that the former president was flagrantly partisan at times in response to disasters and on at least three occasions hesitated to give disaster aid to areas he considered politically hostile or ordered special treatment for pro-Trump states.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Center for American Progress<\/a>: \u201cRelatedly, in its section on the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Project 2025 proposes the agency increase the threshold for disaster declarations, thereby making it more difficult for states and localities\u2014and, by extension, the families and businesses that call them home\u2014to qualify for federal aid after disaster strikes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEven still, Project 2025\u2014a far-right road map that would gut the country\u2019s nearly 250-year-old system of checks and balances\u2014proposes, on page 750, an \u2018end to SBA direct lending,\u2019 the only instance of which is the disaster loan program. Project 2025 suggests privatization as one potential solution and claims, without evidence, that loan availability \u2018reduces individuals\u2019 incentives to purchase disaster-related insurance.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TODAY: Trump\u2019s <\/strong>event<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>features<\/strong><\/a> anti-choice extremists whose records include calling abortion the \u201cgreatest evil in our country.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jackson Lahmeyer<\/a>: \u201cI have and will say without apology, \u2018Abortion is the greatest evil in our country with no close 2nd.\u2019 I will support Oklahoma\u2019s Constitutional right to nullify Roe v Wade<\/strong> […] I believe abortion needs to come to an end in America.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Media Matters<\/a>: \u201cSteve Shultz is the host of ElijahStreams, an online streaming outlet that hosts \u2018prophets\u2019 and \u2018prophetic guests\u2019 who have pushed extreme rhetoric on the program, including guests who attributed the Maui wildfires to \u2018demonic attack\u2019 by a fire-breathing dragon upset over the legality of abortion and who invoked QAnon conspiracy theories.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Politico<\/a>: \u201cAnti-abortion advocates worked for five decades to topple Roe v. Wade. They\u2019re now laying the groundwork for a yearslong fight to curb in vitro fertilization.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSince the Alabama Supreme Court ruled last month that frozen embryos are children, the Heritage Foundation and other conservative groups have been strategizing how to convince not just GOP officials but evangelicals broadly that they should have serious moral concerns about fertility treatments like IVF and that access to them should be curtailed.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance<\/a>: \u201cOn the question of defunding Planned Parenthood [\u2026] our view is we don’t think that taxpayers should fund late term abortions. That has been a consistent view of the Trump campaign the first time around, it will remain a consistent view.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHeritage has been a staunchly anti-IVF voice, supporting Alabama\u2019s controversial Supreme Court ruling that frozen embryos cultivated through IVF treatment have the same rights as living children, and that a person can be held liable for destroying embryos.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Nation<\/a>: \u201cProject 2025 Has Bad Medicine for HHS\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd by declaring that life begins at conception, his manifesto appears to commit HHS to finding ways to outlaw IVF<\/strong>, which relies on generating multiple embryos, most of which are not implanted.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 19th<\/a>: \u201cRNC approves platform that would give rights to fetuses, endangering abortion, IVF\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFetal personhood is widely seen as being in conflict with in vitro fertilization (IVF), which creates embryos outside of the uterus that are later implanted. Fetal personhood bestows the same rights currently reserved for people to embryos from the moment of fertilization.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reproductive Freedom for All<\/a>: \u201cThe extensive mandate calls to gut reproductive freedom, including effectively banning medication abortion, ending access to emergency abortion care, attacking contraception, deploying fetal personhood, and undermining IVF in federal policy\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cProject 2025 includes personhood language and policies that propagate the belief that life begins at conception\u2014which could have devastating impacts should it be put into law. This so-called \u201cpersonhood\u201d language could ban not only abortion but also some forms of birth control and assisted fertility treatments like IVF.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
