As JD Vance prepares to spin his failed record on border security, <\/em>DNC Rapid Response Director Alex Floyd released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJD Vance already had the chance to get serious about securing the border \u2013 but instead he attacked the toughest bipartisan border deal in decades that would have funded more border patrol agents, provided equipment to detect fentanyl coming over the border, and helped fix our immigration system. Vance put Donald Trump\u2019s self-serving political interests ahead of our border security, and the American people aren\u2019t falling for his pathetic and desperate spin today.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JD Vance admitted just two weeks ago that he opposed efforts to <\/strong>improve our immigration system, secure our border, and detect fentanyl<\/strong><\/a> coming into our country.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance<\/a>: \u201cThe border deal was a disaster. <\/strong>I would not have voted for it if Donald Trump told me you have to vote for this thing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance has made it clear he does not support critical bipartisan efforts to secure our border and combat drug trafficking.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York Times<\/a>: \u201cRepublicans Against Border Enforcement\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vox<\/a>: \u201cTrump made this clear when he reportedly urged Republicans in Congress to turn against the bipartisan Senate border security bill scheduled for a vote Wednesday so that he could keep the issue alive through the presidential election.<\/strong> His supporters have largely fallen in line.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cTrump, who is hoping to make immigration a key plank of his presidential campaign, has suggested on Truth Social that approving additional resources for the border would make Republicans \u2018look bad.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two-thirds of Americans support the bipartisan border security deal that Vance fell in line with Trump to oppose.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance has defended Trump\u2019s racist immigration rhetoric and shares Trump\u2019s extreme and cruel Project 2025 immigration agenda that includes ripping away children from their parents, rounding up people into detention camps, and using the military to carry out mass deportations.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York Times<\/a>: \u201cMr. Vance\u2019s views on immigration largely echo Mr. Trump.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hill<\/a>: \u201c\u2018[Trump] said illegal immigrants were poisoning the blood of this country, which is objectively and obviously true\u2019 … Vance said.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTo ease the strain on ICE detention facilities, Mr. Trump wants to build huge camps to detain people<\/strong> while their cases are processed and they await deportation flights. And to get around any refusal by Congress to appropriate the necessary funds, Mr. Trump would redirect money in the military budget<\/strong>, as he did in his first term to spend more on a border wall than Congress had authorized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSuch camps could also enable the government to speed up the pace and volume of deportations of undocumented people who have lived in the United States for years and so are not subject to fast-track removal.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Politico<\/a>: \u201cIf he wins the 2024 election, Trump intends to reimplement many of his first-term policies, including the so-called Muslim ban and the use of Title 42 to turn away asylum seekers.<\/strong> He also wants to deport migrants by the millions per year, detaining them in large camps while they await expulsion. \u2026 The former president further wants to end birthright citizenship for children born to undocumented immigrants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cStephen Miller, a senior aide who crafted many of Trump\u2019s first-term policies, is once again heavily involved in the planning.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Donald Trump\u2019s senior adviser Stephen Miller led the meeting<\/strong>, and, according to the two officials, he was angry at what he saw as defiance by Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen. \u2026 At the meeting, Miller accused anyone opposing zero tolerance of being a lawbreaker and un-American<\/strong>, according to the two officials present.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
