In response to JD Vance doubling down on Donald Trump\u2019s baseless, election-denying lies and refusing to commit to accepting November\u2019s results, <\/em>DNC Spokesperson Aida Ross released the following statement:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAfter a \u2018damning non-answer<\/a>\u2019 and refusing to acknowledge Donald Trump\u2019s 2020 loss at the debate, JD Vance is cashing in on election lies by fundraising today with a fellow election-denying conspiracy theorist. Voters are sick and tired of this kind of dangerous extremism that puts our democracy at risk for Trump\u2019s pathetic ego. Vance was picked because Trump knows he\u2019ll do what his last VP wouldn\u2019t, and he has proven again and again he\u2019s willing to put the rule of Trump over the rule of law.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JD Vance is <\/strong>fundraising<\/strong><\/a> with Scott Taylor, who has spread baseless conspiracies about the 2020 election, after he refused to admit that Donald Trump lost the 2020 election and whitewashed January 6 at the debate.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NBC News<\/a>: \u201c\u2018Damning non-answer\u2019: Vance refuses to acknowledge Trump lost the 2020 election\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJD Vance refused to acknowledge that Donald Trump lost the 2020 presidential election<\/strong> during the vice presidential debate Tuesday and downplayed the seriousness of the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol<\/strong>, which injured more than 140 law enforcement officers. He also declined to say whether he would seek to challenge the results of this year’s election.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance<\/a>: \u201cPresident Trump has said\u2026 there were problems in 2020 and my own belief is that we should fight about those issues.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance<\/a>: \u201c[Trump] peacefully gave over power on January the 20th.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance<\/a>: \u201cDonald Trump and I think that there were problems in 2020.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scott Taylor<\/a>: \u201cLook, as I said before, there are tons of irregularities in the 2020 election that never happened before, right? There are people that have problems with it \u2026 There\u2019s tons of things out there that changed in 2020 that are still there now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance has proven himself a loyal, extreme election denier who dutifully echoes Trump\u2019s election conspiracies and refuses to commit to accepting this November\u2019s results.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance<\/a>: \u201cI think the entire post-2020 thing would have gone a lot better if there had actually been an effort to provide alternative slates of electors<\/strong>, and to force us to have that debate. I think it would\u2019ve been a much better thing for the country. \u2026 [Trump] was trying to take a constitutional process to its natural conclusion.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think it would\u2019ve been extraordinarily disappointing to a whole host of people that I care a lot about if Trump had just taken it [and conceded the 2020 election before January 6].\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

ABC News<\/a>: \u201cJD Vance says [he] wouldn\u2019t have certified 2020 race until states submitted pro-Trump electors\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York Times<\/a>: \u201c[Vance] has said that, unlike Vice President Mike Pence in 2020, he would have helped Mr. Trump overturn the results<\/strong>, by accepting Trump electors that had not been elected by voters.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HuffPost<\/a>: \u201c[Vance] said he would accept a Biden win only if he considered the election to be legitimate. \u2026 Vance\u2019s comments illustrate a new tactic by Republican lawmakers, who are now placing conditions on accepting election results.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kristen Welker, NBC<\/a>: \u201cWell, here we are, about a week before the Republican convention. Before I let you go, can you say unequivocally, unequivocally, here and now, that you will accept the results of the 2024 election no matter what they are?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance: \u201cSo long as it\u2019s a free and fair election, Kristen, of course, we will.<\/strong> We will use constitutional processes to challenge issues if we think there are issues, but if it\u2019s a free and fair election, we will do what the constitution requires, we will respect the results and I expect those results are gonna be to reelect Donald Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Welker: \u201cIt was a free and fair election in 2020, Donald Trump took his concerns to court, he lost in court, but he still has not conceded.<\/strong> Do you understand that when you refuse to commit unequivocally, that feeds into people\u2019s concerns, skepticism about the nation\u2019s electoral process?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance: \u201cWell, Kristen, I don\u2019t agree with that, actually.<\/strong> I think that feeding into people\u2019s concerns about our electoral process is that one half of America\u2019s political segment, they won\u2019t support legislation that makes it harder for illegal aliens to vote, they won\u2019t support universal voter I.D. in our elections, even though you have to present I.D. to do almost anything in this country. I think taking people\u2019s concerns seriously about election fraud is the way to reinforce security and confidence in our elections.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump has also doubled down on his denial of the 2020 results. He continues to push baseless lies about his loss by over seven million votes, and refuses to commit to accepting this November\u2019s results.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interviewer<\/a>: \u201cThere have been other close races and men have said, \u2018listen, for the betterment of the country, we\u2019re going to move on, we\u2019re going to accept the results of the election.\u2019 Would that have been the right course of action?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
