This development comes on the heels of two independent recounts which have confirmed Justice Riggs won the election. As his appeal now moves to the Wake County Superior Court, <strong>the DNC is calling on Judge Griffin to stop his anti-democratic attempts to overthrow the will of the voters and concede this race today.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>DNC Chair Jaime Harrison issued the following statement:<\/strong><strong><br><\/strong><br>\u201cNorth Carolinians have spoken: Justice Allison Riggs is the clear and rightful winner in the North Carolina Supreme Court race. We\u2019ve known this for months, and no attempts by Griffin to disqualify lawfully cast votes, including votes from active-duty military, will change that fact. But with the North Carolina Supreme Court ruling yesterday, this process could drag out even longer, costing North Carolinians valuable tax dollars and denying voters the certainty \u2013 and the system of justice \u2013 they deserve. Today, the DNC calls on Judge Griffin to finally respect the will of the voters and concede this race that he lost.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Read more about the decision:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.democracydocket.com\/news-alerts\/north-carolina-supreme-court-dismisses-gop-candidates-election-challenge-lower-courts-must-review-first\/\"><strong>Democracy Docket:<\/strong><\/a><strong> <\/strong>\u201cIn an unexpected move last night, the North Carolina Supreme Court dismissed GOP candidate Jefferson Griffin\u2019s petition challenging over 60,000 ballots cast in his November 2024 race for a seat on the bench, which he lost to incumbent Democratic Justice Allison Riggs by over 700 votes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the ruling does not mark the end of Griffin\u2019s ongoing legal dispute over his recent election loss.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wednesday\u2019s order specified that the Wake County Superior Court must hear Griffin\u2019s protests concerning three separate categories of ballots \u2014 all of which were previously rejected by the state board of elections \u2014 before the state\u2019s highest court ultimately weighs in.
