Ahead of Donald Trump, JD Vance, and congressional GOP leadership\u2019s appearances at the March for Life rally today, <\/em>DNC Spokesperson Aida Ross released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOnly one week into Donald Trump\u2019s administration, he\u2019s proving he\u2019ll follow through on his dangerous and unpopular anti-choice agenda. Trump\u2019s Day One executive orders already laid the groundwork to rip away reproductive freedoms \u2014 and today, he and MAGA Republicans are making clear they will try to take Trump\u2019s draconian abortion bans nationwide. As women continue to face extreme danger and even death as a result of Republican abortion bans, Democrats will fight back every step of the way.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After laying the groundwork to rip away reproductive freedoms on Day One, Donald Trump is rallying to ban abortion nationwide and rip away reproductive freedoms. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington Post<\/a>: \u201cMarch for Life \u2026 [calls] the Supreme Court\u2019s [<\/strong>Dobbs<\/em><\/strong>] decision a \u2018wonderful blessing\u2019 <\/strong>on its website <\/strong>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThough the March for Life began in response to Roe v. Wade<\/em>, the antiabortion movement predated the court\u2019s decision, abortion movement historian Mary Ziegler said in an interview. The ultimate goal of the movement has always been to guarantee \u2018the recognition of fetal personhood,\u2019<\/strong> she said. \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c[Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America] agreed. \u2018The job is not done in the pro-life movement,\u2019 she said. \u2018The mission is not done. Seeing <\/strong>Roe<\/em><\/strong> fall was the beginning of the end, not the end.\u2019\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBy describing a fetus as a person from conception, Trump has legitimized fetal personhood.<\/strong> \u2026 The legal language employed by fetal personhood also effectively categorizes any person receiving an abortion at any stage as a murderer.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut the concept of fetal personhood is not only weaponized to limit abortion access<\/strong>\u2014it\u2019s also been leveraged at the state level to restrict in vitro fertilization access<\/strong> for intended parents in places such as Alabama, and <\/strong>even used to limit access to forms of birth control.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York Times<\/a>: \u201cThe House on Thursday passed legislation that could subject certain doctors to criminal penalties if they perform abortions<\/strong>, Republicans\u2019 first attempt to restrict reproductive rights since the party has secured its governing trifecta under President Trump. \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was the second time in two years that the Republican-lead House has passed the legislation.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

REMINDER: Trump \u201cproudly\u201d overturned <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong> and \u201cclaimed credit\u201d for extreme abortion bans across the country \u2014 something Vance has celebrated.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump<\/strong><\/a>: \u201cI was proudly the person responsible for the ending of \u2026 <\/strong>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/strong>.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
