Trump oversaw the worst first 100 days for the stock market<\/a> since the 1970s as manufacturing plunges<\/a>, farmers sound the alarm on a \u201cfull-blown crisis,\u201d<\/a> and economists warn<\/a> of looming unemployment and empty store shelves. In his first 100 days, Trump has made America less competitive<\/a> and more expensive<\/a> \u2014 and the American people are paying the price. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here\u2019s a look at how Trump\u2019s reckless economic agenda is hurting Americans:<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNN<\/a>: \u201cTrump took the US economy to the brink of a crisis in just 100 days\u201d<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDonald Trump spent his first 100 days back in the Oval Office driving an economy that the world envied to the brink of crisis, risking America\u2019s reputation as a financial safe haven and fostering fear among voters who\u2019ve lost confidence in his leadership. \u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut the president deliberately and singlehandedly adopted policies that are almost certain to spike prices even more<\/strong>; that could lead to shortages; and that have CEOs and small businesses dealing with chaos and the possibility of a recession. \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEven if Trump succeeds, his approach almost certainly means higher prices<\/strong> for Americans across the board \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd while he insists he has lowered prices<\/strong> for basic goods since taking office, that\u2019s mostly untrue.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNBC<\/a>: \u201cTrump\u2019s first 100 days are the worst for the stock market since Nixon\u201d<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reuters<\/a>: \u201cRisks are high that the global economy will slip into recession this year, according to a majority of economists in a Reuters poll<\/strong>, in which scores said U.S. President Donald Trump\u2019s tariffs have damaged business sentiment. \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShowing unusual unanimity, none of the more than 300 economists polled April 1-28 said tariffs had a positive impact on business sentiment,<\/strong> with 92% saying \u2018negative\u2019.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNBC<\/a>: \u201cU.S. agriculture isn\u2019t nearing a trade war tariff crisis, it\u2019s in a \u2018full-blown crisis already,\u2019 farmers say\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cData released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture on Thursday revealed China made its biggest cancellation of pork orders since 2020, halting a shipment of 12,000 tons of pork. \u2026 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAgricultural exporters warned that there are no other markets<\/strong> that can quickly replace China\u2019s demand and absorb the volume, and that is already affecting prices.\u201d<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bloomberg<\/a>: \u201cTariff \u2018Chaos\u2019 Drags Key Texas Manufacturing Gauge to Worst Since 2020\u201d<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA general gauge of business activity plunged to its worst reading since May 2020<\/strong> based on recent survey responses from 87 Texas manufacturers, the Dallas Fed said Monday.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scott Lincicome, Cato Institute<\/a>: \u201cNew Goldman-Sachs analysis estimates<\/strong> that<\/strong> US tariffs<\/strong> on imported inputs could raise US manufacturers\u2019 production costs by 5-15%<\/strong>, thus making them less competitive<\/strong> vs foreign producers\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York Times<\/a>: \u201cAs a result, allies are working to strike trade partnerships and build security alliances that exclude the United States<\/strong>. The European Union and South American countries recently created one of the world\u2019s largest trade zones. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Canadian prime minister, Mark Carney, recently proposed building new transportation networks to ease access to global markets outside the United States. \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSecond, Mr. Trump\u2019s disdain for international institutions only strengthens the influence of China<\/strong>, the principal target of his attempts to use economic pressure.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Business Insider<\/a>: \u201cThe worst is yet to come<\/strong>: Trump\u2019s tariffs could mean even higher prices and empty shelves within weeks\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c[Nine supply chain experts] agreed that, in the coming weeks, Americans can expect major disruptions to the prices and availability of goods<\/strong> \u2014 store shelves may be emptier, prices will rise, and some products will run out sooner than others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd if things continue on the current trajectory, four of them said, by the end of the year, those effects could be compounded, leading to higher domestic unemployment <\/strong>rates, global market instability, and increased geopolitical tensions.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
