In the latest show of Democrats\u2019 momentum and continued overperformance in elections, voters have spoken loud and clear: they don\u2019t want Republicans who will simply bend the knee to Trump\u2019s disastrous agenda to hike prices, rip away health care, and attack Social Security. As Trump and Republicans\u2019 approval ratings continue to tank, Democrats are offering voters a powerful alternative to protect their rights and their pocketbooks. We have the momentum and we\u2019ll continue to compete and win power everywhere we can.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Last night, Nebraska voters elected a slate of Democratic candidates, from the city council to the school boards, further extending Democrats\u2019 overperformance streak in 2025.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nebraskapublicmedia.org\/en\/news\/news-articles\/lincoln-residents-cast-votes-in-general-election\/\">Nebraska Public Media<\/a>: \u201cSix candidates were competing for three at-large seats on the City Council [&#8230;] The race is officially nonpartisan, so party affiliations do not appear on the ballot, though the three incumbents are Democrats and three challengers are Republicans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs of Tuesday evening, it appears incumbents Tom Beckius, Bennie Shobe and S\u00e4ndra Washington will retain their seats, while challengers Maher Aurang Zeb, Jerry Shoecraft and Stan Parker have come up short.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDemocrats also swept the Board of Education elections, though, like the City Council, the office is nonpartisan and party affiliation does not appear on the ballot.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.1011now.com\/2025\/05\/07\/democrats-claim-wins-lincolns-officially-nonpartisan-city-election\/\">KOLN<\/a>: \u201cAlthough Lincoln\u2019s city election is officially nonpartisan, Democratic leaders are declaring victory after several registered Democrats appeared to win key races, including seats on the City Council, Lincoln Public Schools Board, and Airport Authority.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Over the weekend, Texas Republicans suffered humiliating losses as Democrats swept school board elections across the state as voters flat-out rejected their extreme agenda.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.houstonchronicle.com\/politics\/texas\/article\/winners-losers-houston-bond-elections-school-20305074.php\">Houston Chronicle<\/a>: \u201cIn an upset victory, School Board candidate James Cross defeated incumbent Katy ISD Board President Victor Perez, according to unofficial results.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/school-board-election-defeats-trump-2067993\">Newsweek<\/a>: \u201cConservative School Boards Face Election Defeats in Trump Heartland\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cVoters overhauled the Mansfield Independent School District&#8217;s board in the May 3 election, with challengers unseating three conservative incumbents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn the Fort Bend Independent School District, conservatives lost two board seats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District, voters ousted conservative Tammy Nakamura and chose Matt Faust for the board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn the Keller Independent School District, Randy Campbell, Jennifer Erickson, and appointed incumbent Chelsea Kelley won, filling some seats that were previously held by conservative-backed members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn the Clear Creek Independent School District, voters elected Rebecca Lilley over incumbent Scott Bowen and reelected Jessica Cejka over challenger Joe Machol.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2025\/05\/05\/texas-school-board-races\/\">Texas Tribune<\/a>: \u201cSchool board races across Texas deal losses for many conservatives\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cConservative school board candidates across Texas suffered an array of defeats in Saturday\u2019s local elections, marking a clear setback for the Republican-aligned movement to shape how grade school curriculums and library books confront issues of race, sex and gender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe sweeping losses for conservative school board hopefuls also served as an early sign of potential backlash to the nascent administration of President Donald Trump. \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAll seven school board candidates in contested races who were endorsed by the Tarrant County Republican Party lost their elections.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lonestarleft.com\/p\/magas-very-bad-night-in-texas\">Lone Star Left<\/a>: \u201cMaga&#8217;s Very Bad Night In Texas\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Tarrant County GOP went 0-for-11 in the county\u2019s three largest cities: Fort Worth, Arlington, and Mansfield.
